Diner Reviews
  • "For very good local dinning, with fine service and excellent specials, this is the place to be!"

  • "Had a very nice dinner at Biaggi's, one of our local favorites! There are only a few places that "get fish right" in Champaign-Urbana, and Biaggi's is one of them. The swordfish special was great."

  • "We have been eating lunch at Biaggi's for some time now. The food is consistently good here, with a bi-weekly seasonal menu, which is interesting. We had the shrimp in bread crumb from the main menu and the octopus appetizer from the seasonal. Both were very well-done! They also had mussels with some preserved vegetable sauce from an earlier seasonal menu, which were really tasty. And we love their lobster and crab dip!"

  • "The food was very good and the drinks were even better. Nice, friendly staff."

  • "Ambiance was great as always, service was good and bruschetta was spot on! Cioppino special was not very good, had a very fishy flavor and was cold. I told my server I did not like Salmon and she said there wasn't much in it and it was in large chunks si I could avoid it....none of this was true. Overall still love this place but I'll stick to the regular menu."

  • "I have dined at 3 different Biaggi's and have found all of them to be consistently good. This was my 1st time at the Champaign location and I found the food and service to be very good."

  • "Biaggi's is consistently good. The staff are friendly, accommodating of dietary needs and the food is always good."

  • "Biaggi's is a reasonably priced Italian restaurant with very good service."

  • "On the occasion that I dined here, it was my fiance's birthday. Neither of us had ever been to Biaggi's before, and while for me that's because I simply do not go anywhere I must spend more than $10 a plate, my fiance had never been because she is professional chef, and has some distaste for anything that is chain-like. All that said, not only was the food very, very impressive, but our waiter was one of the best that either of us had ever encountered. I had the Osso Buco and she had the Squid Ink Pasta, we ordered a bottle of wine, and we had dessert, all clocking in at under $100. She has been to places in Chicago where $300 a person was reasonable, and she felt that we received food and service at this Biaggi's that easily matched those."

  • "Food was bland and a little too expensive for lunch."

  • "Food was excellent! Service was great! The food was definitely something the kids would enjoy, but going there for dinner might be a little too much for little ones (under 6 or 7) because I think it is more of a place to relax, talk and take your time to enjoy your meal. Our 8 year old loves it though because she thinks of it as a "fancy" restaurant."

  • "I love Biaggis. However, I always order the GF pizza- this was probably the 4th time they accidentally brought out a regular pizza. There has never been any price reduction for their mistake. Not to mention, this is a very serious recurring mistake. If they are going to offer GF dishes, they need to make sure 100% there staff is brining GF dishes. The only way I knew that it was not GF is because it was not circle (thankfully I was able to recognize their mistake and being it to their attention."

  • "We dine at Biaggi's on a regular basis. It is always good food, moderate prices and great service. They do an excellent job of hiring and keeping servers who do a professional job. This is a college town and a lot of restaurants have constant turnover of their staff. Biaggi's has some employees that have been with them a long time!"

  • "We were running a little late because of the weather but our table was still open. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful as usual. We've eaten here several times alone and with a group and have never been disappointed. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "The food was fantastic and all around a really nice place. Unfortunately there was a family there with loud children, which cannot be helped really."

  • "Staff was friendly. Food was good. Took 25 minutes to get food after ordering. Had reservations 5:45 and arrived at 5:40 but didn't get seated until 6:00."

  • "We went for the night before Valentines day. The server, Joseph, was excellent. He was very attentive, and didn't flinch in the slightest at two guys being out together romantically. It was very busy and there was noise but we didn't have any trouble with conversation."
    Dined on 2/13/2014
  • "We dined at Biaggis' Valentine Wine dinner last night and having had great times at previous wine dinners this one missed the mark on several points. First thing it appeared they were not prepared as they had everyone waiting in the bar area instead of in the back room which pushed the start time back 30 mins. The seating was at communal tables instead of individual tables making it so loud and also made the service choppy and uneven...we were one of the last tables to be served and every course was barely lukewarm which was disappointing most of the food was good..just not warm...the intermezzo (sorbetto) had the taste and consistency of apple sauce..and the chef should not be describing accompanying wine without know proper pronuniation.."

  • "I had been to this restaurant once before but was in the small room. I found the dining area to be quite busy (7:15PM Friday reservation), and was surprised to find a number of families with small children. This did not deter from our experience as we were dining with our college daughter and her friend, but if you were seeking a date night, I feel this would have not been a positive experience. Although attentive, the waiter we had an awkward way about him, but the food was great and having a gluten free menu with gluten free bread would make our return very likely."

  • "The food and staff were great as always. This was a busy Saturday night, we had reservations. Salads, meals, desserts and drinks were all great!"

  • "The food here is interesting and "okay good," however I really am wondering if the food is at least in part prepared elsewhere. I finish the meal with a salty processed feeling much like the chain restaurants of the world. Disappointing."

  • "We drove 2 hours to meet our friends half way for a New Year celebration dinner. I have dined at Biaggi's before and the food, atmosphere and service were excellent. We were able to have a couple of drinks and visit over our dinner in a quiet friendly atmosphere. We will absolutely return!"

  • "The food was great, as was the service (even through a brief power outage). I just wish there was less noise, it sounded more like a sports bar during the super bowl than a nice restaurant."
    Dined on 1/4/2014
  • "This is a fine restaurant with excellent food, a welcoming atmosphere and outstanding service. Both of our dishes had crab, lobster, and shrimp, were perfectly prepared and delicious. We split an appetizer and ordered half portions of our entrees, which was an ample amount of food. I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends."

  • "Biaggi's has a staple menu of Italian dishes, some excellent others not so. The roasted beet salad is beautiful and tasty, as is the spinach salad. My husband really likes the capellini Di mare, which a slits of clams, scallops, calamari and shrimp. I often opt for eggplant Parmesan. One disappointment is only one veal dish--osso bucco. The chef has chicken dishes that usually are veal--like veal piccata made with chicken. Good, but not quite authentic. Restaurant tends to be noisy with big groups, so if it is just 2 ask for a booth."

  • "We have been dining at Biaggi's since they opened a restaurant in our hometown years ago. The "polished casual" air of the restaurant is conducive to so many occasions - from a romantic dinner with your spouse to group birthdays and other special events."
    Dined on 12/15/2013
  • "We are three friends who get together a few times a year over lunch to catch up, and we often choose Biaggi's. The noise level is conducive to chatting, the service is good, and the food is always enjoyable. We all had the half and half lunch special. I had Caesar salad and turkey panini, both excellent. Both of my friends also enjoyed their choices as well."

  • "A very enjoyable evening. The items we tried on the feature menu were excellent:, Malbec wine and pumpkin creme brûlée. The salmon is always good. Our server was great."

  • "I love Biaggi's and choose to eat there for many special occasions. Saturday was my wife's 40th birthday. I made reservations on Opentable.com and the arrangements were perfect. I asked for a table, not a booth, in a quiet spot near the back. When we arrive, we were taken to the perfect table. The meal was excellent and the service was very good."

  • "Have a lot of business lunches there and always a good experience."

  • "One of the best places to dine in Champaign County. We had the soup of the day, Roasted Red Pepper & Leak Soup, handmade pizza, pasta, and a calzone. All were excellent! There is a wide variety of fine Italian including pasta, long standard Italian, seafood, and new inventive choices. The service is always outstanding as the must have a great training program. I'm always impressed at the quality."
    Dined on 11/13/2013
  • "we always enjoy Biaggi's in Champaign. The food is well prepared and I love that they have an extended gluten-free menu."
    Dined on 10/30/2013
  • "The noise level on 2 occasions this month was unacceptably high. There is no need for load music at lunch. Both lunch and dinner had unacceptable levels of conversational noise. It was extremely difficult to have a normal conversation during the meal. This is unacceptable. Dinning room needs sound proofing in ceiling and walls."

  • "BIAGGI'S IS ALWAYS HIGHEST ON OUR LIST OF PLACES TO EAT WHEN WE'RE IN CHAMPAIGN,IL OR BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL IL. WE LIKE THE ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE AS MUCH AS THE FOOD."
    Dined on 11/7/2013
  • "I dined here while I was in town for business. The Focaccia was delicious although both the Italian bread and the Focaccia bread were served cold. I had the tour of Italy. For the price, the amount of food was small. It came with chicken Parmesan, lasagna, and tortellini with pesto. The chicken parmesan was burnt so I sent it back. I received a much better piece the second time. The service was pretty good and the noise level was moderate. The wine list looked like there was a lot of selection but I didn't have any. I would go back."

  • "This regional chain does a great job with its Italian fare. The food quality and the service is always top notch. They should, however, stop training customers to dip their bread into olive oil. I think most of their customers know how to do that. This is a bit demeaning."
    Dined on 11/1/2013
  • "Food was good, I tried the pork chops instead of a pasta dish and was impressed. The pork chops were very tender and moist and the side of vegetables were crisp tender. absoutely delicious."
