A word from Bhatti Indian Grill
Bhatti is an ultra-authentic north Indian restaurant in the heart of New York City that’s refined yet affordable, upscale and still comfortable. Take your pick from a variety of kebabs and curries and watch as our master chefs work their magic at the Bhatti.

Bhatti’s mastermind is Gaurav Anand, who on his first trip to the Big Apple realized that he would have to act on bigger aspirations to make his dream come true. It was with this passion and his extensive knowledge of North Indian cuisine that he decided to open Bhatti Indian Grill in August 2009.

Kebabs are the specialty of the house and they’re anything but typical. The signature dish is Gilauti Kebab, which is steeped in history, originating in the province of Lucknow as a royal meal for a king who had lost his teeth in old age. Anand is one of the few chefs to have learned the secrets to the recipe. The final product lives up to the legend- the rounds of lamb really do melt in your mouth like butter.

Some of the Indian joints around this area lack vitality and polish. Bhatti has both in spades. I've had one meal there which was very good, but I will return to try more menu items. The service was not perfect (no one offered to get my date a second glass of wine and refilling my water glass seemed to be a chore) but I'm willing to over look this as they were quite busy on a Saturday night.

This is my favorite Indian place in the city -- or was, until this visit. The food was so mild as to be bland. The Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka were in the tiniest of pieces. And the waiter forgot our wine.

price point is lower than most of the indian restaurants in the city, but it's still very good. the 3 bottle limit for no-fee byob was also a major draw since we were a large group. the flavor of the naan was great and everything we ordered was also delicious. we had the lamb and chicken kebobs, Methi Chicken Curry, chicken tiki marsala, rogan josh, aloo gobi, chicken biryani, and veggie Biryani. that is a good portion of the menu and no one had complaints, would definitely go again

Prices are higher than their menu online so get ready to pay a little more (as of 8/11/14). I hope they update that. The food was YUMMY! Hands down the best indian restaurant i have eaten at NY. Its kinda small and has a cozy feel to it, customer service is good. Overall, I'd definitely recommend!

Not a con just a fact..... This restaurant is very small and fills up quickly. The tables are close together. This is why I rated the ambience as good. The reason it is so busy is because the food is outstanding.

Excellent, authentic Indian food. Don't forget to order rice--it doesn't just come with your meal. When we arrived it was very crowded and had to wait even though we had a reservation. Had a table basically on top of another couple and couldn't hear each other from across the table so when a quieter spot opened up they graciously allowed us to move! BYOB is great. Will definitely be back!

The restaurant stands out in an area of mediocre Indian restaurants. The food is exceptional, well prepared with enough choices for varied tastes. The lamb vindaloo was exciting with all the spices bursting in your mouth, the lamb was tender and cooked perfectly. The chicken masala was flavorful and complemented the spicier lamb. The restaurant does not have a liquor license, but you can bring your own wine or beer. They don't charge a corking fee and they are happy to serve you. The place is small and it fills up quickly, there were people waiting to get in and they still did not rush us out. A great find!

I'm a big fan of Indian cuisine, and this was by far one of the best places I've found. The food was savory and on point. The service is outstanding - the waitstaff always at the ready. It's also nice to see the manager on the floor pitching in as much as the staff. Only thing I'd recommend is making a reservation because this place is constantly packed. The tables were turned over quickly - amazing in itself since they don't rush you in and out.

After trying several places in NYC and curry hill, Bhatti has become my go-to for date nights, nights out with friends and my seamless orders. I've tried 4-5 other places and I won't eat anywhere other than Bhatti- there isnt a better deal or place that has even come close. The food is by far the best I've had for the price, the wait staff is so friendly, the portions are good and the garlic nann is beyond amazing. It's also BYOB so it's great for date nights or just nights out with your friends! I always end up with two entrees, rice and nann to share–it's enough for my boyfriend and I both to be full and still have leftovers for me to take to lunch. Grab a bottle of wine or order in and enjoy!

Bhatti was the first restaurant we tried when we moved to the neighborhood, and in many ways it has remained our favorite. The Indian food is the best that we've tried on the block, and it's a fun, energetic place to eat. The one big caveat (which may not be one for some people, but it is for us) is that it's not a place that values a relaxed meal. The waitstaff have a habit of rushing you through your meal (especially at the end) to make way for new customers. This is understandable in theory -- the dinner rush can see lines forming out the door -- but their need for you to get done and get out sometimes crosses a line. If you don't mind a great meal on a house-imposed time crunch, then Bhatti is an excellent choice.

The place is cute, and obviously trying to set themselves apart from the normal Indian restaurants in the area by charging a la carte (the rice does NOT come with any entrees). Service staff lacked any personality...the woman was totally lackadaisical as we walked in, and we had to ask her to change our table by the window as it was too cold. It wasn't much better by the wall; there was no heat on! Finally, complaints from other diners made them take action, and heat came on as we were leaving. I don't understand why, with the restaurant almost empty, that she told us we couldn't have a seat by the wall in the first place. With all of this out of the way, the food was very good. Perhaps we'll come back when the weather is warmer!

Bhatti is a small place, we came at 7:30pm and it was full with (local) people. The telephone was ringing constantly, which is a good sign for the chef, but a bit annoying for the guests. However, the food is really great. We had a rogan josh and a lamb tandoori, both excellent. If you like wine, you can bring your own bottle (from a store next door), which happened at the table next to ours. Recommended.

Really great experience overall - place is BYOB with no crok fee - just bring your bottle and they set out the glasses. The food was absolutely delicious. Had a Chicken Xakuti dish with spices and coconut, a Aloo something... with potato (which was the stand out of the evening), Dhaal and the old staple Chicken Tikka misala - all were wonderful and it was a great evening. The service was a little meh... not very engaging etc, but they were solid and got everything right. Tip: Check the wine place on 27th around the corner - Vino - has an excellent bottle of Shiraz from India which was a great compliment to the meal.

The restaurant is ver darkly decorated making it a little depressing. It is BYOB aa they do not have a liquor license. Very pleasant waitstaff. We had a stuffed grilled potato appetizer whic was delicious but it was a snall portion for the price. The entrees, one chicken and one lamb kebab, were only so so with chicken slightly better. Both arrived cool which was sut priding as there was only one other couple in tge room. The naan was far from the best I've had.
