A word from Bhatti Indian Grill
Bhatti is an ultra-authentic north Indian restaurant in the heart of New York City that’s refined yet affordable, upscale and still comfortable. Take your pick from a variety of kebabs and curries and watch as our master chefs work their magic at the Bhatti.

Bhatti’s mastermind is Gaurav Anand, who on his first trip to the Big Apple realized that he would have to act on bigger aspirations to make his dream come true. It was with this passion and his extensive knowledge of North Indian cuisine that he decided to open Bhatti Indian Grill in August 2009.

Kebabs are the specialty of the house and they’re anything but typical. The signature dish is Gilauti Kebab, which is steeped in history, originating in the province of Lucknow as a royal meal for a king who had lost his teeth in old age. Anand is one of the few chefs to have learned the secrets to the recipe. The final product lives up to the legend- the rounds of lamb really do melt in your mouth like butter.

Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent, authentic Indian food. Don't forget to order rice--it doesn't just come with your meal. When we arrived it was very crowded and had to wait even though we had a reservation. Had a table basically on top of another couple and couldn't hear each other from across the table so when a quieter spot opened up they graciously allowed us to move! BYOB is great. Will definitely be back!"

  • "The food was delicious! Everything we ordered was good but the Paneer tikka Masala was outstanding! Highly recommend!"

  • "The restaurant stands out in an area of mediocre Indian restaurants. The food is exceptional, well prepared with enough choices for varied tastes. The lamb vindaloo was exciting with all the spices bursting in your mouth, the lamb was tender and cooked perfectly. The chicken masala was flavorful and complemented the spicier lamb. The restaurant does not have a liquor license, but you can bring your own wine or beer. They don't charge a corking fee and they are happy to serve you. The place is small and it fills up quickly, there were people waiting to get in and they still did not rush us out. A great find!"

  • "The food was very spicy even though we told the staff that we need mild spicy, especially the Gobi curry that we ordered. The bhatti special dal was good."

  • "I'm a big fan of Indian cuisine, and this was by far one of the best places I've found. The food was savory and on point. The service is outstanding - the waitstaff always at the ready. It's also nice to see the manager on the floor pitching in as much as the staff. Only thing I'd recommend is making a reservation because this place is constantly packed. The tables were turned over quickly - amazing in itself since they don't rush you in and out."

  • "This restaurant is the best indian food in the city! The sauces and naan bread are amazing. I highly recommend the chicken korma and chicken tikka. I wish I lived closer I would be there all the time! Great prices as well!!!"

  • "Experience was awful..please teach your employees how to behave with customers..one of your employee..shamelessly asked us to leave the table before we could wear our coats...really..!!! Train them if you can..thank you.."

  • "After trying several places in NYC and curry hill, Bhatti has become my go-to for date nights, nights out with friends and my seamless orders. I've tried 4-5 other places and I won't eat anywhere other than Bhatti- there isnt a better deal or place that has even come close. The food is by far the best I've had for the price, the wait staff is so friendly, the portions are good and the garlic nann is beyond amazing. It's also BYOB so it's great for date nights or just nights out with your friends! I always end up with two entrees, rice and nann to share–it's enough for my boyfriend and I both to be full and still have leftovers for me to take to lunch. Grab a bottle of wine or order in and enjoy!"

  • "We wanted to have a meal that was both entertaining and satisfy our vegetarian friend, and while we only had vegetarian fare to accommodate our friend (so we could share!) it was both delicious and made us want to come back to sample the non-vegetarian food as well! The service was impeccable and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

  • "Reservations highly recommended at this fantastic northern Indian restaurant. Tables fill up fast. Try the salmon kebab; you won't be sorry."

  • "Best Indian Food in NYC. It always reminds us of the best restaurants we ate in in India! Excellent kababs and extremely soft bread. The curries are also delicious and spot on. Service is fine - sometimes excellent, sometimes good."

  • "Bhatti was the first restaurant we tried when we moved to the neighborhood, and in many ways it has remained our favorite. The Indian food is the best that we've tried on the block, and it's a fun, energetic place to eat. The one big caveat (which may not be one for some people, but it is for us) is that it's not a place that values a relaxed meal. The waitstaff have a habit of rushing you through your meal (especially at the end) to make way for new customers. This is understandable in theory -- the dinner rush can see lines forming out the door -- but their need for you to get done and get out sometimes crosses a line. If you don't mind a great meal on a house-imposed time crunch, then Bhatti is an excellent choice."

  • "The food was very tasty. However we were seated in between two extremely loud groups of people (not the restaurant's fault but bc the tables were close together it was hard to hear)."

  • "The place is cute, and obviously trying to set themselves apart from the normal Indian restaurants in the area by charging a la carte (the rice does NOT come with any entrees). Service staff lacked any personality...the woman was totally lackadaisical as we walked in, and we had to ask her to change our table by the window as it was too cold. It wasn't much better by the wall; there was no heat on! Finally, complaints from other diners made them take action, and heat came on as we were leaving. I don't understand why, with the restaurant almost empty, that she told us we couldn't have a seat by the wall in the first place. With all of this out of the way, the food was very good. Perhaps we'll come back when the weather is warmer!"

  • "Could not accommodate on time despite reservation (had to wait 40 minutes). Slow, cold service, food was okay."

  • "All my Indian friends recommended and I am glad they did. The food was great and prices fair. It's a bit small they need to expand since it's popular."

  • "Probably the second best Indian food I've ever had. It wasn't my favorite place in terms of ambiance but everything was delicious."

  • "We've been to Bhatti a few times and are very pleased with the experience every time. The food is absolutely delicious - no matter what you order. The menu has lots of choices for both vegetarians and omnivores. It's BYOB, which helps keep the cost down (the liquor store is just around the corner and gives a special discount to Bhatti customers. Very nice place for a date or dinner with friends."

  • "Should have little more space , can be fast food rather than full resturant"

  • "We really enjoyed this restaurant. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. They do not serve wine, so you can bring your own, which is always great. It's not large, so reservations were a good idea for Saturday night. We will definitely go again."

  • "The restaurant is ver darkly decorated making it a little depressing. It is BYOB aa they do not have a liquor license. Very pleasant waitstaff. We had a stuffed grilled potato appetizer whic was delicious but it was a snall portion for the price. The entrees, one chicken and one lamb kebab, were only so so with chicken slightly better. Both arrived cool which was sut priding as there was only one other couple in tge room. The naan was far from the best I've had."
