A word from BG - Bergdorf Goodman
Sophistication on the Seventh Floor of Bergdorf Goodman with afternoon into evening Central Park views. BG is a modern interpretation of the aristocratic social salon. Like a Park Avenue residence from the age of cosmopolitan glamour. Well-appointed and bright, the drawing room atmosphere is an intimate conversational setting for lunch, tea and early supper or cocktails. The light and sparkling menu is a modern take on classic New York fare. Continued

  • "Had never been to Bergdorf's in my life despite growing up in B'klyn (30yrs.) & then moving out of state. Now we come back to Manhattan as 'tourists.' Sort of on my 'bucket list' to visit BG & it surely didn't disappoint. Stunning, captivating to describe the ambience of BG! The "whisper chairs," the view overlooking Central Park, 5th Ave., The Plaza, FAO Schwarz, made for a lovely experience. For people watching this place is a must! The Gotham salad & the Chicken Milanese were quite good. While the cost of 2 salads came to about $60 with tip NOT included was a bit 'over the top,' I truly understand that you are paying for a visit that combined all of the above mentioned. "You only live once!""

  • "My two daughters (13 & 10) and I took their aunt to tea at BG to celebrate her birthday. How fun! We had a table with a view over Central Park and watched the rain come down. The glass of Champagne was excellent and so was the tea. Nice sandwiches, very good scone and lovely macaroons/sweet things. When we couldn't open one of the jam jars, our waiter tried as did the whole staff and all had a good laugh. We had a wonderful time."

  • "My mother and I came here for the high-tea service, which was really disappointing. The service and ambience were nice, but the food served for the high-tea was the bare-minimum and low quality. The tea sandwiches looked like they were made out of Wonder bread, and the scones were really small and boring. Not worth the $35 per person."

  • "BG Bergdorf Goodman is such a fun place to have lunch in NYC! The view from the seventh floor is wonderful, and it is a great place for people watching! The menu is lovely and so is the service! The flat bread crackers are delicious! The mocktails are great if it is too early for cocktails! I normally get the tuna tartare for an appetizer, and it is delicious. However, I tried the deviled eggs this time, and I wasn't disappointed! My husband has a scallop appetizer which was outstanding! He had the salmon entrée, it was moist and flavorful! I ordered the chicken Milanese, but unfortunately, I had to send it back because it was as dry as dust. The waiter gave me the salmon entrée as a substitute upon my request, and I enjoyed it!"

  • "A great spot for both the visitor and the long time New Yorker. It is all done in quintessential Bergdorf style!!! The food, the bubbly and the view are a triple threat!"

  • "I took my daughter to the cafe for lunch during our visit to the city. It was perfect. Every single detail, absolutely perfect!"

  • "Delicious food and nice people in a very attractive setting. The greeter, the waiter and everyone there was so pleasant and helpful. The food offered variety and everything was delicious and beautifully presented. A very nice place to lunch."

  • "This is my second time lunching at BG's. I wanted to make it a special occasion for my daughter-in-law, who has never been to BGs even though she lives in the city, and who is very pregnant with her first child. We were given the table I requested, by the window, which was very nice. But my salad was puny! I ordered the marinated shrimp salad and got 4 tiny shrimp, a couple of pieces of avacado and a few crumbs of feta cheese. This is an $18 salad -- too much lettuce and not even protein. The mustard vinagerette was also a bit overpowering. The people watching and the view were spectacular, as always, and I swore I saw Kelsey Grammer having lunch, but it wasn't he unfortunately."

  • "My wife and I like having Sunday lunch at Bergdorf Goodman. Its a hidden gem, full of character and charm. A little pricy maybe, but well worth the money. Great service, very good food, and a nice place for a Sunday lunch."

  • "I love this place for lunch But service was way off today Server was attentive but just didn't deliver Lunch arrived 20 minutes after placing the order Every restaurant has a bad day now and then and BG is no exception but I am confident BG will bounce back bigger and better than before"

  • "The food was average. I had the milanese and it was light and good, but not that satisfying. I also had the truffle mashed potato, which was lumpy. My mother had the lobster salad, which was very good. I would only recommend this restaurant if you are shopping at Bergdorf's and you want to have lunch, as the cafe in the basement is horrible."

  • "I really wanted to have lunch at Bergdorfs. I ordered the lobster Mac & cheese. It was the best I have ever had. Would defitley go back."

  • "Friend's bday with afternoon tea and lobster napoleon. Generous servings of lobster in the napoleon. Unfortunately, after taking our order and serving us the tea tiers, our server disappeared. Every other server we stopped and made a request to, they all very kindly said yes (more ice water, more hot water, replacing a sour clotted cream). However, no one ever actually returned to fulfill our requests. Not sure whether b/c it was a busy afternoon (there were PLENTY of servers, though) or just poor (priority) management. They also "lost" my friend's CC and then "found" it and then had to re-ring our payments. They took the napoleon off our final receipt (personally think it was b/c too difficult for them to ring up then split 3 ways)."

  • "The wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary in NY and she bing'd lunch places near Central Park and Bergdorf Goodman popped up. We loved the lunch at BG. The wife and i did some shopping first to build up an appetite then had lunch. Then more shopping. Better make reservations and get their early."

  • "Although it is expensive, the quality of the experience as a whole makes it worth the price tag"

  • "Great place for lunch during your shopping at BG but also worth a special trip. Elegant dining with a beautiful view of Central Park in NY, and..."elegant " prices (high for fairly small portions), although my seared scallops on a bed of ravioli were worth it (three small scallops for $20!)."

  • "I eat at BG's several times a year. This time I tried the root and squash soup. The garnish of pieces of apple were an outstanding addition to this lovely soup. I always love their lobster salad. The server was especially accommodating by suggesting that he bring two different types of salad dressing to the table because I wasn't sure of my choice. For dessert, I had the fruit plate and found it had a nice variety of fruit and was presented in a manner that was pleasant to see. The green tea is served properly. The teapot has a strainer in it in which the loose green tea is placed. There was also the proper amount of green tea for the amount of water in the pot."

  • "The view is terrific; the bread basket is filled with delicious options; the service good, but both salads we had were awful -- the chicken was bad. I could barely hear what my neighbor was saying across the small table it was so noisy. And it was expensive: $38/person including tip for just a salad."

  • "We had afternoon tea here and it was excellent. The room, on the seventh floor of the formidable department store, is very attractive, overlooking Central Park, and while there were quite a few people the noise level was surprisingly subdued. Afternoon tea, a way of life in the United Kingdom and beyond, is not all that available to New Yorkers and so BG should be cherished. We look forward to a return visit."

  • "I went for tea time with a friend. The view of Central Park is whimsical. The tea selection is great, as well as the little sandwiches. Perhaps the little sweets are way too sweet, but the scones come with this delicious cream that makes your visit worthwhile."

  • "I recently dined at Open Table with my daughter-in-law and granddaughter. The waiter was friendly and helpful and had great knowledge about the menu. The food was nicely presented and very good. All of us agreed we had a very pleasant lunch experience at BG and certainly would dine there again the next time we were in the area."

  • "Nice place to eat in terms of atmosphere. But the food was disappointing for a city that is so vibrant with food. Best for people with old palates. Not very exciting or stimulating."

  • "Really fun restaurant and one that is often forgotten, I think, since it is tucked away inside BG. Fabulous option for a girls night out. We took advantage of John Barrett's salon on the 9th floor before dinner to have our hair braided. Really transitioned well from getting gussied up to indulging in decadent food. They also spoiled us with a complimentary birthday celebration for my friend which I only mentioned when booking the reservation on OpenTable. Highly recommend!"

  • "BG is a lovely place for lunch. Excellent food, good service, lovely views of Central Park. The only caution is that it is sometimes full of gossipy dowagers in between shopping sprees at Bergdorf's. They can be tiresome to be seated next to. I really don't need to hear how hard it is to get good help in NYC. But overall, BG is a terrific place for a real New York experience."

  • "Excellent people watching, good food, great service, and peaceful and tranquil joy in which to converse with people you like. A couple of obnoxious tourists but that's nobody's fault. Lovely everything. Well, except the price, but it doesn't keep it from being worth doing every now and again."

  • "Unfortunately, I was disappointed from the very start. Bread basket was boring and the place itself was nothing special. Service was fine, nothing great. Our lunch was delicious, though, which is why I rated 4 stars for food. Quite inventive and unusual. We had the autumn kale salad and an entree of cauliflower which was delicious. The bathrooms are down the hall and in horrible shape. Something from the 1970's. I guess if you're visiting New York City and want to lunch at an iconic NYC department store, it's a good choice. Otherwise, skip it and try any other place in NYC for lunch. Did not compare at all to lunch at Neiman Marcus, which is a real treat.Fun for people watching, though!"

  • "Wonderful view of Central Park! The food is fair to average (prices too high for what you get, and out of step with quality), but we continue coming back because it is a quintessential NYC experience."
