Great food, generous portions, great ambience, service , crowd and so close to upscale shopping or just looking. Though not inexpensive, being at BG presents the best of everything for a daytime meal, as the restaurant closes when the store does.

BG is certainly not cheap, but what would one expect from a restaurant in Bergdorf's. I've dined here several times before with friends and recommended the Gotham Salad to my mother, which she enjoyed. My friend taught me to order the salad with champagne vinaigrette, which accompanies the salad well. I ordered the Croque Madame again and was satisfied with my choice. The drinks that we ordered were refreshing for the hot day outside: lemonade with vodka and watermelon beer. Can you find the same food and bevarage choices elsewhere at a cheaper price? This is absolutely not the case at BG. It is a gorgeous, crisp, beautiful restaurant. We took my mom-in-law there for lunch for her birthday, along with a day of shopping. It was perfect. The waiter was so sweet and charming, and funny. We had a table with a stunning view. The decor is gorgeous. Really, better than I thought. The food is kind of secondary to the experience, but it was good. Many cities no longer have this option since most of chains are in malls. There is a nice view of Central Park. The food was delicious along with homemade bread and rolls.
