"This was my second visit to this place, and I was absolutely satisfied with everything.
The service was great, the food is very tasty and delicious, and moreover the ambiance is a very amalgamate mix between romantic/reserved and very friendly.
This is a great spot to enjoy a good meal, with friends or for a special occasion as can be a date."

"Went to Brunch on Easter Sunday. Food came out slow and the salad entree was tiny. They knew they were slow so they comped us some drinks - belinis and the world's most sour lemonade (like face imploding sour).

Probably a better late night joint, but definitely not "Eater NY Hottest Brunch Spots"."

"Great ambience and service, I would train the hostess more, no personality whatsoever.
The food mediocre, as a Chef and also half asian, flavors are very important , I was not impressed . I was looking for the wow factor but just was not there, no passion put into the plate. My sister a news editor for the Wall Street Journal, world traveler was also very disappointed."

"If you don't like coriander, don't eat here. It's a bit of a one-trick pony if you're not a fan of the divisive leaf, which is paired with lime in many of the dishes. One dish - only one - really, really stood out, and it was spectacular and worthy of a second visit. The braised beef had a light, sweet crust on the outside that hid superb, moist, fall-off-the-bone meat within. It really serves two. Possibly the best I've had, anywhere."

"Two of us were forced into doing the tasting menu because the other two wanted to do it. I had really wanted the fish that wasn't on the tasting menu so I ordered it anyway and ended up having a little too much food. Four of us were only served three pieces of short ribs so we alerted our waiter. I had to wait 10 minutes for my piece while the rest ate."

"Skip the lychee martinis and go for the Pimm's tea...muddled cucumber and lychee were refreshing on a warm night. Tasting menu was great, interesting textures and flavors were exciting. Great bar service and waiters were prompt. My biggest complaint? It was early and the restaurant only had 4 people in it, why did the hostess need to seat a couple right NEXT to mine when there were at least a dozen empty tables in the place."

"We love and eat southeastern food every once in a while.but in betel we found the food to be over spicy that you lose the tasta of the main dish.Too much salt and too much spice.I wish the chef was aware of that.The portions was fine but the overpriced for what it is."

"We were visiting from Ireland and wanted somewhere interesting to eat. I saw Betel during the day and we returned that evening. The service was excellent, the waiters really knew their stuff and seemed relaxed and confident. Three of us ordered mains, two of the bites and the corn fritter and dips. There was really too much food for the three of us - and the waiter had said so before we ordered. But the food was really delicious. Every mouthful had some little burst of flavor, sometimes a fresh burst of cilantro against the earthy pork, sometimes a hit of chili. I say visit Betel, listen to the waiters and relax into a very tasty evening."
