A word from Bestia
Ori and Genevieve's signature style shines on the Bestia menu with a plethora of seasonal dishes that have been sourced from local purveyors. The emphasis on nose to tail cooking can be found in dishes such as Coppa di Testa comprised of housemade headcheese and Cassoela Milanese with braised pork, veal ribs and pork sausage. From housemade mustard for the charcuterie to skillfully crafted squid ink bottarga, the menu reflects the attention to detail that the duo pays to only seasonal ingredients. The emphasis on sustainable ingredients and products can be found not only on the menu, but in the design of the space as well. Working with designer Greg Bleier, Genevieve sourced the contemporary elements from local artisans, who rely on reclaimed materials to create the unique elements found within Bestia, from the light fixtures to the stools and tables.Continued

  • "We were there on a very crowded Saturday night. Dinner took 2 hours once we were seated. Waiter would disappear for long stretches of time. Hard to get drinks/wine, the bill, pay the bill, etc. Our duck arrived over 30 minutes later than the rest of our food and it was overcooked. While they removed it from the bill after the chef tasted and agreed, it took away from our overall experience. All four of us agreed that while the majority of the food was quite delicious and the portions are large (the farro salad and the lamb ragu pasta were particularly tasty), there are simply too many great dining options in Los Angeles with better service. I hope our experience was just a fluke."

  • "Every dish was delicious. The bone marrow and grilled octopus and squid were our favorites. Timing of the food could have been better, but maybe we just ate too fast. Our server was attentive and friendly and our glasses were never empty. Great vibe, many different types of people, not a stuffy or pretentious restaurant."

  • "My friend recommended this place. It was not as expected at all.Food was good, but not exceptional. We drove all the way to downtown for it, I think I can go to other places in the West side for better food and better services. The manager came to find out "what's your overall experience?" I had to tell the truth. We had to ask our waitress about our food after waiting for nearly 30 mins. after the appetizers. Really??? A "super" restaurant would let you wait for that long in between the dishes? I don't think so. We took the waitress's recommended dishes, but nothing special. The manager offered to take care of the bill and for us to call him next time whenever we want to go back and experience " the way you should have". We will see."

  • "Never again. They can't decide if they are a body bar, a heavy metal rock arena or a restaurant. No compromise is what the message was. Some of the dishes were good others not fit for human consumption. The clams and mussels were over spiced and our waitperson refused to ask the kitchen to prepare another with less spice. They did comp that item. I see no reason to ever return and it seems unlikely that they can sustain a profitable of business with this business model."

  • "We had an early reservation and waited a few minutes outside for the doors to open. The staff was inside having a pep rally of sorts. Entertaining to listen too. Waiter was patient and knowledgeable. Made recommendations when asked. Cocktails and food were all amazing! But the best part was the timing of the food deliveries. Perfect, not rushed. We enjoyed our time at Bestia and will return."

  • "Food and service were very good but I will not go back unless I become totally deaf, which could happen if I ate there too often. This level of noise is all too common now, restaurants seem to think it is necessary to attract younger diners who have nothing to say to their friends and so don't care that they can't hear each other."

  • "Front desc is not polite, we were party of 3 and my friend arrived 10 min late, very arrogante stuff. Ambiance was cool, but not new, Edisson and Bäco Mercat style. Music is too loud You never say to the paying customer " it's your problem if your friend is going to be late, besides we have no table free right now anyways" that was just 5 min before the reservation time and my friend was going to be 10 min late, and they did not wanted to sit us. It's definitly a no go Location in a bad area, no parkings and only valley parking Not sure if I would go for second time. There are many great places in DTLA"

  • "Took my family to Bestia the other night for dinner. I knew the place was highly rated but didn't expect it to be so well run and welcoming. The wait staff made us feel at home and gave us the best direction to make sure we all found the best options. The food was perfectly crafted and the wine list was a perfect complement to the high quality food options. If you are in LA, make this restaurant part of your plans. It's new, vibrant and delicious."

  • "Great expeince. Food was amazing prepared, presented and most importantly tasted great. Very unique use of flavors and techniques to create memorable dishes such as a "simple" creamy polenta, squid and octopus starter garnished with dandelion greens that added to the overall flavor and texture of the food, to the steak( bone in) for two. Service was excellent.everyone was attentive without being obtrusive. The space is well designed with one exception. Hard to have a conversation. You had to scream to b be heard. This has, unfortunately, become the standard ambience everywhere. Although it does detract from the overall experience it does not overwhelm the excellent quality of the food or the service."

  • "The restaurant is in a trendy (and appears to be growing) part near downtown LA. Driving through the area was interesting because it's definitely not where we would have thought a restaurant existed. The ambience is very laid back and has a rugged/rusted and trendy look inside and outside (which matches the area in general). There is both inside and outside seating. The food is excellent. We ordered a salad, about 3 appetizers, and 2 dishes. All were definitely way above the average mark compared to other Italian restaurants we've been to. There's definitely a lot of thought put into the ingredients and preparation for everything on the menu. If you want an authentic Italian food experience with a trendy atmosphere, this is your place."

  • "The food was fantastic. The pizza, the octopus salad - everything we ate was delicious. The service, not so much. Please don't assume that just because we haven't eaten in this particular restaurant that we are unfamiliar with dining in a restaurant. I know that restaurants think they are doing customers some sort of service when they explain "how a menu works" but in reality, it's condescending and puts us off the whole experience. If we have a question, we'll ask it! We understand that your restaurant is very "hot." But please, don't treat customers like children, especially those of us over 30."

  • "This is my second time coming back after a year when they first opened. Although my first time was less than stellar, this time Bestia lived up to the hype. When I walked into the restaurant and interaction with the hostesses, to our waiter and bus/water boys was TOP NOTCH. No stone left unturned. The food was excellent as well--especially the farro salad. Our waiter Jon was fantastic and really made the experience great. 2 cocktails, 1 beer, a pizza, a salad and the lamb ragu pasta was under $120 with tax and tip and was enough food for 2 persons having a late night dinner."

Walking in, I was impressed by the energy and decor, felt like I was in a hip new restaurant in the meat packing. Like many restaurants in LA, I wish the food would live up to the hype and ambiance. It was very rich, tasty, but nothing outstanding and definitely not worth the wait."

  • "The only complaint I have is that the place is ridiculously noisy. It's enough with the bad acoustics, but then they play very loud music on top of it. Don't get it. And this was at first seating! The ambience, otherwise, along with the food and service was very good. Delicious pasta, pizza and the panacotta was amazing."

  • "There are a lot of great restaurants in LA. Bestia is one of them. What might set them apart, however, is their very interesting choice and combination of ingredients. Definitely not just another great _______ restaurant, but rather quite unique, with a menu that encourages you, even dares you, to expand your horizons. The meal was delicious, the service was helpful, cordial and attentive, making for a truly excellent dining experience. I usually don't think much about desert but Bestia's deserts were especially good. A great, surprising end to a great meal."
