The table had already been set up and was waiting for us. I only wished we had the option of eating outside but was told that they wouldn't rearrange the tables outside for groups even though there were several empty tables. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. Our server was fantastic. She was there when we needed something and took the time to explain the menu options. The food was fantastic. We had many different entrees and appetizers with our large group. The presentation was pretty and the serving sizes were plenty big enough- even the appetizers were large enough to share. The table side guacamole is killer and just the chips and salsa alone are enough to make a meal. I felt like I had to order the drink of the day since I didn't have an opportuntiy to look at anything else before she wanted a committment. The food had a gourmet flair but was not down-sized as in some gourmet restaurants. The guacamole was fresh, tasty, prepared at our table. The only slight tarnish to the evening was switching our server halfway through the meal without telling us. The setting was simple, relaxing yet elegant. They hold reservations for 15 minutes past your time just invade you're late. Which worked out for us since parking on a Saturday night can be a bit crazy. The food was amazing and while the menu may seem pricey, you get a lot of food so it's worth it. My only issue is the seating for two. They try to maximize space by having small tables really close together. It's a bit awkward when you start adding the multiplier plates and glasses as well as any bottles of water, wine, or sangria pitchers. I have tried a few places around the Hartford area and haven't really found anything up to par. However, all that changed once I visited Besito! The food was outstanding; very authentic. I had the Swizas enchiladas and the tomatillo sauce on top of it was so good! We also had the tableside guac which was good as well.
The best part about this whole experience? They actually read my little note I put when making a reservation on Open Table that said "birthday dinner :)". My entire party agreed that the food and service were exceptional. I just returned from Mexico, but the delicious fresh tableside guacamole brought me back to that paradise. The restaurant is very cleverly laid out in the former town hall building with beautiful accents and finish work - the chandeliers and wall candles created a nice warm ambiance. This time was a quiet Sunday night when it was very slow. The good news is I finally enjoyed myself. I had the tacos (beef) and they were excellent. It was cooked as requested and came with a delicious marinade. The sauces served with it were unmemorable, but unneccessary with teh taste of the meat any way. The melted cheese and rice along with the salsa were just what I wanted. My wife had the enchiladas mole. She was a bit disappointed, because she was hoping for something with a little more kick to it. Her margarita was a little sweeter than she likes too. Overall we both enjoyed our dinner.
