Diner Reviews
  • "The wine list was great, and the staff was very knowledgeable. The food was very savory and elegant. We both had ribeye steaks and the taste was beyond reproach, however we both had veins and silver skin...unexpected of a high-end eatery such as Besh's Steakhouse. I will certainly visit again, but I will be sure to ask a better cut and trimmed steak."

  • "Told on arrival there was an issue b/c I didn't note reservation w/wine dinner--confusing since I never noted previous reservations. Hostesses said we couldn't sit in dining room, but could sit in lounge; then consulted mgr. Mgr stated AGAIN that reservation should be noted, but she would try to accommodate us. Asked if we could sit in lounge as hostesses offered and was told no. Eventually we were seated in dining room, where there were numerous empty tables. Not the way to start what is always a lovely evening. Bad feelings were completely avoidable. Had manager not made it abundantly clear I'd created my own problem and then overstated how difficult it might be to accommodate us, I'd be praising them for how they handled the situation."

  • "Hostess Judy did it all! She introduced our group to a very friendly and professional bartender Leonard and food server Darren and seated our group at perfectly arranged tables and location. Food was pricey but its Besh and good."

  • "The Bibb salad was fresh and tasty. The snapper entrée was a good presentation. The entree was a good mix of vegetables and sauce with the fish itself. Service was quick and pleasant."

  • "It was not great but at least they cooked a steak well done without an attitude and without burning it. The salads did not have a sufficient amount of dressing to even wet all of the lettuce, needless to say provide sufficient flavor. We drank soft drinks and apparently were charged for refills - the last of which I did not request! Overall, the Besh seems to continuously go down while the prices go up. I would not discourage anyone from eating there but I also do not go around bragging or recommending it as a target location to dine."

  • "Food was excellent as always. One of my favorite places to eat in New Orleans. Good service is still lacking"

  • "My husband and I were celebrating an anniversary. We indicated this at our time of reservation and asked for a quiet table. When we got there, they put us right in the middle of the room at a shared 1/2 table, 1/2 booth which was disappointing and certainly not quiet or private. The service was akin to something you would expect at Applebee's. It was difficult to get the waitress' attention and we spent a lot of time waiting for drinks, more bread, etc. The food was decent but not worth the price; both of our steaks came out overdone. Next time we're in NOLA, we'll avoid this restaurant."

  • "Very good food...wait staff is sometimes rude, sometimes great. Eating at the bar is preferable since the bartenders are great and attentive."

  • "Had the crab shells and shrimp risotto as appetizers. Both were amazing...very rich! I had the filet and my husband had redfish. Steak melted in your mouth...so tender. Fish was equally good. Dessert was sinful....bread pudding. The restaurant is located in a busy casino so it is noisy but we hardly noticed. It was crowded so service was a little slow...little inattentive. Would definitely go back for the delicious food! Like most celebrity chef restaurants...bring your wallet."

  • "I didn't take it as a bad sign when our host was disinterested. As a casino restaurant she might be harried differently than the hosts of steakhouses I'm used to eating at. It turns out it was a bad omen. Our waitress was the least friendly waitress we had during our trip to New Orleans. The food for most in my party, which included a Besh fan, was disappointing. I was very impressed by the peppercorn sauce on my steak, but others were far less impressed. Given the strangely raw vegetables on one plate & a tasteless entree on another I can't blame them. Our creme brûlée for dessert was top notch though. Normally if food is a tad disappointing at a place of this caliber great service will carry you through. Not here."

  • "The food was good - not amazing, but very good - but the service was excellent! It probably helped that it wasn't very busy (I was there on a Monday night) but my server was great and incredibly knowledgeable about the wine list - a true asset!"

  • "The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there & wasn't the Friendliness, the food was just ok. Too smokey from the casino And not a great ambiance"

  • "When we were ready to order, our server was nowhere around. Another server asked if we had been helped and then our server showed up. We were not given a wine/drink menu. Once service got started, it was good. It would have been nice to have the lettuce in the salads cut up. Because the Caesar was served on a flat plate, the whole lettuce leaves were difficult to cut without almost sliding off. There was parmesan cheese on only one leaf and very few croutons. The dressing was good. The asparagus was very large and not tender except for the very tip. The steak was excellent and cooked perfectly."

  • "What's not to love about this restaurant? The service is great....from the hostesses to our waitress, everyone was very friendly and professional. The food is absolutely amazing!! The duck and andouille gumbo was rich and full of flavor and the crab-stuffed shells were delicious. Gf got filet and it was perfect but the star of the night was my prime NY strip with blue-cheese butter. There's no way to describe how amazing this steak is........just try it!!"

  • "Our server was not very attentive and this was not due to the restaurant being crowded. You would expect better service with a fine dining experience."

  • "The menu is more imaginative anx limited than you'd find a Typical "steakhouse" which could be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. Everything we tried was delicious and the service was top notch."

  • "The only thing we found slightly lacking was the service. It was though we were an after thought. The waitress was very nice and friendly though not very attentive. The restaurant was busy though what makes an excellent waitress is you never feel that when you are being served. Otherwise great meal!"

  • "Steak was excellent for husband. For my lite appetite, many choices were available. I chose pork belly with grits. All were very tasty!"

  • "As a casino-based steakhouse, I wasn't expecting very much -- except for the fact of the Besh name -- from this restaurant. But it has some very inventive and excellent non-steak dishes -- as one would expect from Besh. Not sure why you'd go here when August is 2 blocks away, for a full serving of Besh cuisine. But if you can't leave the casino, this would be one of the best restaurants in any city but New Orleans."

  • "We had filet mignons that were the best we have ever had. The accompaniments were included unlike many steak houses and were also great. The prices were also reasonable. Definitely a go back place."

  • "Priced reasonably for what the food should be., however, 30 days aged steak ($75) was of Golden Corral quality, better desserts at Dairy Queen, pasta shell crab appetizer ($20); think Chef Boy RD, lobster tail ($32), compare to pencil eraser, both in size and texture. Combing the very marginal food quality with exceptionally slow service; a serious disappointment for what should be a mid to high quality restaurant. I think it is quite reasonable to expect better food and good service from this restaurant, I would strongly recommend avoiding this Besh!!!!!"

  • "Love having dinner at Besh in New Orleans. We love the intimate and quiet atmosphere. The Lobster Bisque was very tasty, the steaks, superb, done expertly. The wine list, exceptional. We were not rushed and had a lovely time."

  • "I made a reservation about 3 weeks ahead when called to confirm I was told that they could not find my reservation and that my confirmation number was not showing up either. After placing me on hold several times and waiting about 30 minutes I was told they could reschedule me for 9:00 pm. I was furious but accepted b/c it was to late to go elsewhere. The vibe was good. The menu was a special menu which I did not like, very limited and small variety of options. I ordered a mojito which was horrible but I didn't complain. The steak was very tender and delicious. Our waiter was hardly around talked to another table across the room the entire time. I had to ask 2x for a refill. Would give another chance with the whole menu b/c food was good."

  • "I've been to many high end steak restaurants across North America and the Filet was one of the best I've ever had. With that said, this is the only steak restaurant I went to while in New Orleans and I've heard there are others which stack-up against this restaurant (Dickie Breannan's, Chophouse, etc.). But, if you do choose this one, I don't believe you will be disappointed."

  • "I was so disappointed for my first experience at a Besh restaurant. The service was terrible, our waiter was rude and neglected us. She seemed annoyed that we brought our own wine (Besh restaurants done have corkage fees). My shrimp and grits were semi-cold and needed salt. What a let-down! Go somewhere else!"

  • "Excellent! Not only was this a valentine's dinner but a celebration of my husband's retirement. Thanks to the hostess who seated us at a private booth and checked on us throughout our visit to make sure we were well taken care of. Food was excellent. Steaks cooked to perfection. Wait staff was very attentive. A night we will remember always!!"

  • "The food was great! Service was good. Very easy to park and get to. So glad they changed the special menu to a much more broad menu. Got a call the night before saying it was going to be a special menu. My fiancée called and complained about the limited menu. The did change it and included a nice selection. Originally the menu had shellfish on every entrée and its a steakhouse... But they changed it and in the end was a great experience, hope they took notes for next year. Also don't forget to ask to validate your parking! They did not ask, I had to request!"

  • "THE PRIX FIXE MENU NEEDED TO INCLUDE AT LEAST TWO ENTRES AND APPETIZERS TO CHOOSE FROM. ALTHOUGH THE MENU ITEMS WERE DELICIOUS, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO DISHES. THE MAIN COURSE WAS GREAT; HOWEVER, I ALWAYS NEED TO HAVE MY STEAK MEDIUM AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS COOKED MEDIUM RARE. I WAS DINING WITH MY SON WHO ORDERED HIS RARE AND I OF COURSE HAD MINE MEDIUM WELL. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT MAY BE TOUGH, BUT I INFORMED THE WAITRESS THAT I WOULD RATHER HAVE IT A LITTLE TOUGH THAN FLOATING IN RED JUICE. MY SON WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE BOTH OF OUR DISHES WERE COOKED MEDIUM WELL. IN VIEW OF THE FACT THAT HE HAD AN APPOINTMENT MADE ELSEWHERE, WE DID NOT HAVE TIME TO ASK FOR ANOTHER PLATE. HE ATE HIS MEDIUM WELL."

  • "This is a nice restaurant, but not a first choice any more. Our waiter was just okay, not what is expected from a restaurant of this caliber. My appetizer of crab/shells was delicious, but the constant crunching into shells was not a good thing -- and the waiter was there when it happened and he just joked, "Oh, you got a shell." I'm just glad I didn't break a tooth. My ribeye was overly fatty and mostly inedible. Dessert was just okay. Very glad I had a comp from the casino for this"

  • "We are huge fans of all of Besh's restaurants and have dined at the Steak House multiple times. The service was wonderful, the food more than disappointing. The iceberg salad was perfect, cold, crisp, the dressing top notch. However, the filets were overcooked and dry. The "scalloped potatoes" seemed an afterthought and failry tasteless. The asparagus was past it's fresh prime, yellow on the ends and also bland. We were shocked at the quality of the food because everything that comes out of Besh's kitchens has always been wonderful. Makes us wonder if it has declined due to the fact many of the diners are paying for the meal on the Harrah's reward card.f"

  • "I had a great time at Besh with my lady friend. It was dim, but the lighting was romantic. I've never been to an upscale restaurant like this, so I naturally was impressed by most everything. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. We ordered a single salad to share and it was brought to us in the proper portions on two different plates. It was very nice of them to do that. The wine we got was $12 a glass but was a red from Napa Valley, so hey..it was worth it. Delicious and paired well with our meals. I highly recommend this steakhouse if you don't mind spending $100+ on a meal."

  • "The food, service, atmosphere, and ambience was great. Our group had the Frenchies and the Big Bad Baked Oysters for apps. Unbelievably good! We had beet salads and casaer salads afterward. Very good. Between the four of us, we had lamb, trout almondine, pork chop, and duck breast. We all tasted each others' entree and they were outstanding. We toughed it out and had bread pudding, creme brule, and satsuma chess cake for dessert. Wow, there is nothing else to say. Fantastic meal."

  • "The restaurant is nice but is part of the casino so unless you are a heavy smoker this is not a good place to eat, especially at the menu price point. It also looked like some patrons had free food vouchers from the casino so i was in a suit and they had on jeans so don't over dress. I could not even eat my meal, although my steak was gorgeous it was not even close to being prepared as ordered and with the second hand smoke I was not waiting for a re-fire. I gave the entire steak to a homeless guy outside to be honest. The shrimp bisque was great and the bread was good as well. Also the blue dog theme was awesome. Take home message, if you smoke you will enjoy but don't feel like you need to dress up!"
