My companion, who has been to many fine restaurants and spent her summers in Nantucket for many years, said that her lobster was one of the best meals she ever had. She was also enamored of the wine (by the glass selections can leave something to be desired, but we wanted only a single glass between us, so that is what we had to choose from), the dessert, the appetizers, and the environment. It was our first visit but will certainly not be our last! We have dined at most of the area's finer establishments and over time have found them lacking...disappointed at paying a lot for a little. Bernard's impressed us across the board...ambiance, food, service.

The atmosphere is relatively formal--white linen, live piano music--and the rooms are beautiful. The menu is continental cuisine, varied and interesting. The food was attractively presented and delicious. The service correct but friendly and not stiff. It is not inexpensive but we felt that the prices were completely fair.
