A word from Bent
Superstar chef Susur Lee designed the menu and still oversees the kitchen but hands over the reins to his sons Kai & Levi Bent-Lee. In this up and coming Dundas west neighborhood the boys have chosen a laid back vibe emphasis on great food and imaginative drinks. The decor also a family affair designed by the boys mother Brenda Bent and her partner Karen Gable.
Critics agree Susur Lee has done it again! Favorites include Tuna and Watermelon Ceviche, Chicken Dumplings, Slow Braised Five Spice Short Ribs, Kale and Tofu Salad, a decidedly Asian flare with house brewed sake. A lively environment with great service

Warm and friendly staff, especially Christian who helped us select a perfect bottle of wine for our meal. 4 people + Chef sharing plates (about $40 per person) = perfect night. The sharing plates allowed us to taste a wide variety of dishes. The lobster ravioli was amazing and Ferrero Rocher dumpling desert was the greatest thing I've ever had. The setup is quaint and the vibe is nice. I'd read online that the noise can get a bit too loud but I thought it wasn't an issue (albeit, we went on a weeknight). Definitely a good place to check out for a date, with friends, or if you just want great food and even better service. I can't wait to check head back to Bent on my next visit to Toronto.   • "Loved this place, very happening, loud and fun! The food was good but not gourmet by any means, just a good variety of tapas style dishes which were all delicious. Great for a fun evening out with friends - we averaged at $100 per person with lots of food and drinks!"

  • "We had dinner at Bent on Saturday night and it was AWESOME! We ordered the fresh shucked oysters, the pressed octopus, the chicken dumplings, and the short ribs. All of the dishes were very good -- we especially loved the short ribs! The waiter was both attentive and good at giving us space. I also loved they participated in Earth Hour. This is definitely a place I will come back to!"

It is all about the food here.....wait staff are exceptional.....attentive, helpful and super friendly. The combinations of ingredients at this restaurant are superb. We were blown away. WELL DONE! I will be going back to take my foodie friends as it was worth the wait."

  • "My boyfriend and I have gone to bent in the past and have absolutely adored it. In the past we have spent upwards of 600$ and could not wait to return to one of our favourite restaurants. Sadly the quality has decreased significantly, as well as the service. Our server only came by the table a couple of times, forgot to put in our drink orders and was scrambling around not giving us the time of day and it definitely was not busy. The Kale and Tofu salad is nowhere near as good as it used to be, the texture is completely off, and this wasn't the only dish we had problems with. Overall this was a disappointing experience, we will not be returning, our money can be spent elsewhere."

  • "We were a party of 5 and, upon the Manager's recommendation, opted for giving the chef carte blanche so we could enjoy various offerings. Our only proviso was that there should be no pork for the table. Halfway through the meal, a dish appeared with bacon on top - it was promptly removed when we reminded them of our no pork request and apologies were made. The same thing happened to me when dining at Susur some years ago. I expect better from an establishment with a chef of his stature. A couple of the dishes were very good, others so-so. Service sometimes slow with long gaps between courses. Would not go out of my way to eat here again."

  • "Clear and concise menu. Inventive drinks. Personable and courteous staff. Mesmerizing dishes to awaken all your senses, from beginning to end. You will definitely leave full (do not underestimate the tasting dishes, though they look small)! The creative and personal decor is the cherry on top of this gem. The arrow outside the restaurant says it all: pay attention to BENT! Everything was top-notch: service, wine (and sake 50% off on Tuesdays!), appetizer (salmon tartare), all dishes (sashimi tasting plate, ceviche, kale salad, braised short rib), coffee (cappuccino, espresso, dessert (banana chocolate cake) and decor! Cheers to the best place ever."

  • "Dined at Bent with my husband and a friend visiting from Europe. The menu is meant for sharing but we were starving and didn't want to, lol. I had the lobster tacos to start. There were four small ones to the plate and delicious. I would only point out they're a tad messy as the taco shell crumbles when biting into it so you might want to hold out if trying to impress a date or you can fit the whole thing in one bite (not recommended). As a main I had the shrimp and kale dumplings (can't recall the official name of the dish) - also delicious. I am not a fan of kale but I would eat the dumplings any day.We decided to share dessert and it was equally delicious. Berries and cream in a cup - light, fresh and a perfect ending."

All of the dishes were full of flavour and very tasty, and the service was really good - very attentive but not overly attentive. And the servers were all able to answer questions about the food and drink and make excellent recommendations. It was my second time dining at Bent but each of the others' first time and they all really enjoyed it. Our friend from Ottawa was very thankful that we made the reservation at such a great restaurant because she really enjoyed it."

  • "Food was tasty and descent portions for tapas style. The fusion was not forced and you can taste both the Asian and French styles. BUT it was overpriced for what they were charging and some dishes were overcooked. The service was not very attentive and the tables are too close together. I booked far ahead to ask for a two person table near a window. There were many tables free but they squeezed us into a corner table very close to another table. I asked to be switched but they gave me another bad table I didn't want with awful seating even though there were many other open tables."

  • "I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Bent. It's modern and energetic. The menu was very interesting. They also had an interesting wine list. We ordered hot sake, and it was pretty good. We started with the spicy and waterlemon ceviche. It was an innovative dish . Then, we had the sashimi dish. It was ok. The lobster is cooked not sashimi-style. Next, we had the duck confit & goat cheese springrolls. It was quite good too, but the spring roll pastry can be better. We then had the curried lamb chop. It was very delicious. For dessert, we had the chocolate ton yuen - a very interesting dessert indeed. Overall, the food was great. The servers were very attentive too. I will go to Bent again."

  • "The food was great and for the food we would return. However, the service was abysmal! It took 15m once seated to just get offered water and have our drink order taken..after a long wait the drinks arrived, I stated that we were ready to order our meal. The waiter said he'd be right back..not exactly sure why he couldn't take our order then..he then disappeared for at least another 15-20m...I saw a couple that were waiting to be seated while we were already at our table and they had already received their meal! Once the food did arrive it was great, the spring roll was very unique and the short ribs extremely tender..but then the horrible service reared it's ugly head again..I ordered a drink midway through my meal and it never arrived!"

  • "Great dinner, and fantastic service! The manager, Christian, took care of our table and he was great. We were offered the chef's menu, rather than eating from the menu and we couldn't have had a better dinner. One member of our party was vegetarian, and when each item was brought out for the table a separate single vegetarian dish to match joined it (three lobster tacos and one goat cheese taco). My only dislike for the whole restaurant was that the seating was a little close together and the restaurant was full, so it felt tight and was pretty loud with conversation. Not one complaint about the food or service, though. Definitely a restaurant to go check out!"

  • "Many spots in the city try to create a memorable experience. But I have to say this one takes the cake. Everything from the Decore to the staff was fantastic. The food was amazing. I would recommend picking 4 or 5 dishes and sharing. Each dish has a uniques flavor and style. The ribs are to die for, the lobster tacos... WOW. A must is the oyster, and lobster shooter."

  • "Valentine's day may not be the best day to check out a restaurant as they are usually really busy. Either way, we were extremely disappointed in our experience at Bent. We waited 1.5 hours for our first course to arrive. Meanwhile, the couple sitting beside us had arrived 45 minutes after us and were served before us. That was one of many frustrations. Our waiter basically forgot about us multiple times. Would forget to bring us the wine list, the wine, the food, etc. We know they were busy but that's basic stuff. Food was good but not mind blowing and certainly not worth the grief that we experienced. Not heading back there any time soon or ever if we can help it."

  • "Went recently to BENT for Winterlicous and had an excellent time. All of the dishes were superb. The flavours were complex and scrumptious. Portions were a little on the small side, but not nearly as bad as some other restaurants which have so-called 'micro-food'. Favourites were the seared pepper-encrusted salmon, which was divine and the pork shoulder canneloni (great fusion!). Will definitely be back, but not soon because this place sure is expensive! Great for a special occasion."

  • "I went on a date to Bent. The food was excellent, and the ambiance was great. The service was deceiving. The waitress show up only three times: to take orders, deliver orders to the table and collect the payment. She didn't ask how the food was, nor if we wanted to have additional drinks. Being on a date with my girl friend, I still gave a generous and not deserved 20% tip. The waitress embarrased the both of us by making us feel like this was not enough. While on a date. Really?! I will not go back to Bent ; not because of the food or the ambiance, but because of the poor service."

They were not very knowledgeable when it came to questions on the menu. Creme Brule was bland - not recommended - especially as a feature for the night."

Service was fabulous as always and a real treat to have staff attending to you who are extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and professional. Couple that with fabulously created blend of flavours, textures, and presentation that's signature Master Lee, and you're in foodie heaven. Very modestly priced for such culinary pampering. Will return for sure and highly recommended!"
