Our server was super patient with us, and on top of our needs. Our younger son really enjoyed the mac and cheese appetizer, he had lobster and crab meat added to it. The steaks people had were cooked to the right temperature. Everything we ordered we shared. We have eaten at Morton's, Lawry's, and Gibson's in the past and decided to try it on a recent weekend trip based on reviews on Zagat. The restaurant is conveniently located on Wabash between Nordstrom and the Trump towers. We felt that the atmosphere was more intimate than the other steak houses. Service was great, our waitperson was very knowledgeable about the menu and was helpful with wine suggestions. My wife and I each ordered the wet aged 8 oz filet, which was cooked and seasoned to our liking. We ate at Benny's Chop House on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. Our waiter Nick was wonderful. He and the rest of the staff saw to our every need and really made us feel welcome.
The steaks are very good, not the best I've ever had but they are very good.
The bacon is tremendous, eat it, love it. Also the truffle mashed potatoes are delicious.

A visit to Chicago is never complete without visiting Benny's. Not only do they offer the best food for the $$$ but the atmosphere and staff are some of the best around.
We both ordered the Dover Sole for dinner which was cooked to perfection and the presentation was fantastic as well. We have also had steaks at Benny's which are always rich and flavorful and not too much fat. I have eaten at just about every steak house in Chicago and for me Benny's is by far the best and most reasonable. They also have one of the best wine selections and prices in-town.
I look forward for another opportunity to be in Chicago so I can visit Benny's again.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGo to Benny's - great place to dineOur first trip to Chicago and we are very happy to have been able to add Benny's to our experience ! The restaurant is nicely laid out so the bar and dining area are separated. If you want to listen to the music you have to sit in the bar as it can't be heard in the dining area. The menu had a wide selection of beef, and non beef choices. Even a vegetarian can find something to satisfy their taste buds. We ordered from the beef menu. Three different ageing choices. We selected from the wet and dry aged sections. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. We did agree that as described the dry aged was more flavourful...but don't get me wrong, the wet aged filet was delicious too. :). They customized his menu by printing it to say Happy Birthday and we got to take it home as a little present! The cocktails we had were pretty good along with the Salmon Tian appetizer. The 7 oz Filet Mignon was a perfect size for me and was very good but my boyfriend's Natural New York Strip was even better. The Parmesan Truffle Fries were exquisite and the wine we had paired with our meals, keeping our preferences in mind, was the cherry on top! My boyfriend chose the Fuji Apple Tart for dessert which they made into his birthday dessert and that was pretty good as well. It was also very good, when I had the opportunity to try some of my girlfriend's wet aged filet vs. my natural filet. As a rule of thumb with steak houses, you must have great sides, and they do. The potatoes, carmelized onions, and parmesan was good enough that my girlfriend who doesn't eat onions ate it. I was slightly disappointed with the lobster mac and cheese, because the lobster chunks were all claw, and not totally evenly cooked. Wedge salad + 2 filets + potatoes + Mac and Cheese = $126 before tax. This was by far the most exquisite dining experience we have ever had. Our server was Steve. He made it special and memorable by printing special congratulatory menus, getting me a shawl because it was a bit chilly, serving dessert on the house, and rolling up our menus like little diplomas for us to take home. It was so refreshing to experience real customer service. Coming from Alaska, it seems to be lost on most. We definitely will come back as soon as we can.

When we arrived it was empty and when we left it was empty. The restaurant might have been nice but we didnt see it. I have found recently when I use open table for reservations I get the worst table in the restaurant. I have quit going to some good restaurants because of table placement. Bringing adult guests out and being placed by the kitchen or behind the wall puts a bad impression in mind. I guess I expected an “older” Chicago steakhouse, but this one is sleek in design and ambiance. Our dinner selections included dry-aged NY strip, surf and turf, asparagus, truffle mashed potatoes, chocolate pudding cake, a cocktail, coffee, and cappuccino. Both steaks were perfectly prepared, but I would not repeat the truffle potatoes as they were too oily for my taste and too filling. Next time, I’ll try a salad!
