  • "The meat was very good, but not excellent. Service was decent, but several key mistakes were made, most notably with drinks. They couldn't make a good martini (way salty), it took three tries and 15 mins to make an Americano, by then dessert was done. Their wine list, while impressive, is so far out of bounds markup-wise that we didn't even order any because it was such a blatant rip off. As a group of 8 foodies used to dining all over Chicago, we expected a lot of Benny's. They didn't delivery the goods on the little things that matter though. We were also absolutely blown away by how ridiculously overpriced it was. Needless to say, we all left pretty bitter. You'll get a much better experience at Mastro's, Burke's, heck, even Gibson's."

  • "Tried to get into Joe's and at 5:00 Friday for my anniversary, but could not get in, so I went to Benny's one block away and experienced one of the most professional staffs and one of the best dining experiences in my life. Went back to Joe's Saturday and their service is second to Benny's! Do not miss this great steakhouse and their pampering service! I dine at top steakhouses around the country with clients and Benny's became my new number one on 8/15/14."

  • "Dined at Benny's as part of a corporate outing. Reservation was acknowledged on arrival and we were escorted to the bar to await our table. Our primary waiter, Paul, was very personable and created an outstanding experience. Appetizers including the bacon, calamari and cerviche were very well done. The steaks were properly prepared to the correct temperature and were of prime quality. Side dishes that were sampled included the macaroni and cheese with bacon, asparagus with hollandaise, crisp kale, creamed corn with truffles and mushrooms. After the meal we enjoyed several of the desserts including the chocolate pudding cake with toffee ice cream. Overall, I would rate Benny's as an excellent choice for the atmosphere, service and food."

  • "Had reservations for the main dining room, but the 25-cent Oyster Night Special is offered in the bar only. We ended up staying in the bar the entire time, and were able to order dinner, too. My wife had the $74.99 T-bone and I had a rib-eye. My wife made the mistake of ordering hers medium well - it came back well done. My medium rare was more like a medium, too. Something to consider if you're ordering steaks, especially at these prices! Otherwise, the service was great as was the ambiance in the bar area. Would definitely eat here again."

  • "My husband and i had the great fortune of eating at Benny's for our 37th anniversary. We went for lunch and we were the only ones there but that did not stop the serving staff from being attentive and professional. Our menus had "Happy 37th Anniversary" written across the top. Our waiter recommended the dry-aged bone in rib eye as the most flavorful steak and he was right. The steak was tender, juicy and ful of flavor. We also had onion rings and they were not greasy at all, but tasted great. For dessert I had carrot cake, the largest piece of cake I have every seen and in fact I ended up taking three quarters of it home. My husband had a delightful creme brulee. We would gladly return again and again."

  • "I would have given 5 stars for service but there was one hiccup. When I booked the reservation, I requested a booth. Upon seating, we were presented to a table. When I pointed this out to the host who was seating us, he seemed quite annoyed. The food was very good, but the prices were so high that it interfered with the pleasant experience."

  • "Other than some overly noisey, overly wined up patrons at a table near by, it was perfect in all ways. Staff was awesome and well versed in helping us navigate the wine list for a great find, in our price range, and pallet preference, meal was perfectly prepared, had appetizer, salad, main event dry aged ribeye, with lobster roissoto, with sides, and dessert...nothing missed. True medium rare. Never felt rushed, extremely attentive staff. Only challenge beyond patron noise, was a trickly drive find. I would recommend calling ahead for directions if you are not famillar with the area"

  • "I come to Chicago several times each year for the last decade and each time, every concierge at the Trump and now at the Langham has recommended Benny's. Not sure why I never went. This time I did and brought my mum. We think they deserve all their reputation as their steaks are perfectly prepared and balanced. Wait staff were attentive and kind, but never obtrusive. Definitely would come back."

  • "Low light, intimate seating and perfect noise level. Food never disappoints and the service is impeccable. Our server made everything sound amazing and if I wasn't on some dietary restrictions, would have ordered all the specials. We both ordered a filet and had the crispy kale (mmmmm), spinach and butter crisp hashbrowns (the best potatoes ever!) My husband and I rate Benny's in our top 3 ChiTown steakhouses."

  • "Prosciutto di Parma appetizer. Overgenerous portion of Prosciutto perfectly sliced, served with olives, a pepper salad, bread, and fruit. Bone-in-New York Strip was aged and cooked perfectly, very large, tender, and flavorful. The smores cheesecake was perfectly presented and one of the best desserts I have eaten, although I am not a dessert guy. Our only minor issue was that the wild rice side was just alright, but not up to par with the other food. Our cocktails were made with care as well. Our server was extremely attentive, but not overwhelmingly so."

When we arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly and our server came right over, introduced herself, and suggested a couple of beers and wines based on our tastes. She was super friendly and knew the menu well. Our steaks were amazing and the sides just incredible. The special side that night was a creamed corn with truffles and bacon and it was delicious! We were treated to a chocolate cake that my wife claimed was the best she's ever had. Benny's was a great place to spend our anniversary dinner and we can't wait to come back to chicago to revisit it (or maybe they'll open up a location in Orange County, CA!)"

  • "We started our meal with the shellfish tower, which was incredible. The Ceviche, three thumbs up. I had the Halibut... my goodness, absolutely the best I've had. Even the desserts were amazing. We had the banana cream pie, cherry pie and chocolate pudding cake all three were excellent. Our waiter was the best. I highly recommend Benny's, you won't be disappointed."

  • "Dry aged bone-in Ribeye was killer. Filet's were perfectly done. Try their bacon, if you like bacon. Very unique flavoring, in a kind of candied grilled sort of way. Lobster mac side could be a meal in itself. Energetic wait staff was very knowledgable and helpful. Had live piano and an electric bass playing. Lively atmosphere of all kinds of people from everywhere wearing everything and anything. Found that to be common in Chicago. Unless the dress is specified, you can wear anything, really. Seating layout was a bit tight andit was a bit dark and noisy. Still a very good meal. Not very cheap, but it is Chicago!"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed every aspect of our special night out to Benny's. We requested a booth when we made our reservation (8 PM on a Saturday), and we mentioned it was our anniversary. We arrived 45 minutes early and expected that the table would not be ready, but the incredibly friendly staff were able to seat us within 15 minutes. Our menus "Happy Anniversary" printed across the top. Our waiter was excellent, attentive without being cloying. We enjoyed the Oysters, a wedge salad they split for us, a Bone-in Fillet and New York strip (both perfectly cooked to order), the specialty sides of creamed corn and white asparagus, and the recommended chocolate pudding cake, with a beautifully scripted "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate. Perfect!"

  • "We went there to celebrate our anniversary. The hostess was rude. We were seated at an extremely small table to avoid the larger table in a high traffic area. My husband's filet was tough. My lobster was undercooked and the staff did not seem to care. We love to visit downtown once a year. We usually go to Ruth Chris, Gibsons, Mortons. Feel so bad knowing we could have gone somewhere else and enjoyed a great dinner."

  • "Went with co-workers. Food was excellent. Popular choice was the dry aged bone in rib-eye. Side dishes like the Hash browns can easily feed 2 people. Steak was excellently prepared and cooked. Our server had the chef prepare an extra 1/2 order of hash browns because the wait-staff accidentally through mine out."

  • "My wife and I chose Benny's to celebrate our anniversary dinner. It was outstanding choice in every aspect-service, food quality and atmosphere. We started with an assortment of oysters. For dinner, my wife ordered the surf and turf consisting of a filet and lobster tail-both were delicious. I had the pork chop which was also outstanding. For sides we had the hash browns, mushrooms and maple bacon. Each dish was among the finest side dishes we've had. We had a strawberry rhubarb "pie" which had a flaky crust similar to a cream puff. Accompanied by a raspberry sorbet the desert was excellent. Based on the combination of service, food quality and atmosphere, Benny's is at the top of our list of steakhouses."

  • "We decided to eat at Benny's Chop House after reading their great Tripadvisor reviews and because it was close to our hotel. We were not disappointed. The service is impeccable and our waiter Nick was so friendly and not 'in-your-face'. I ordered the 8oz filet mignon and it was to die for. My fiancé ordered the rib eye and he was very happy with it. We ordered the truffle fries and carrots as sides and got a third side of peas on the house! We even had a little room for dessert thankfully, although we only got one to share."
