At Bennett's we are committed to serving pure, all-natural food. Here you won't find artificial preservatives, colors or sweeteners, flavor enhancers or hydrogenated oils. What you will find are the freshest, most authentic ingredients we can offer.

Most of our ingredients are deeply rooted in the Cascadia region – an area extending from northern California to southern Alaska, and the coast to the continental divide, taking in Washington, most of Oregon, Idaho and part of Montana.

We buy from producers who share our commitment to whole foods and handmade fare. People dedicated to the simple pleasures of creating delicious food and drink the way it was intended to be made; fresh from the earth, the sea and the vine.

Diner Reviews
  • "Went for lunch and decided on soup and sandwich. The Bennett's version of tomato soup is one of the best I've eaten, and combined with their grilled cheese sandwhich (suitable for frequent dunking in the tomato soup) is sublime. I was a bit less enthusiastic about the house side salad, just because I am not in love with field greens, as opposed to romaine. But the taste was also good, with a light vinaigrette style dressing. Service was outstanding, and we ate outdoors on the front patio street side on a gorgeous day."

  • "I like to schedule lunches when I come from Seattle to meet Eastside appointment at Bennett's because the service is professional and fast; the food is delicious; and I can get out in an hour to get back to Seattle."

  • "Used to attend quite frequently but over the last few years not as often - service was friendly but was very slow at one point until our party made a note of letting our server know that we were short on time."

  • "Bennett's is our neighborhood gem, and possibly the only one. Always good, always reliable."

  • "Bennett's is always a great spot here on Mercer Island. The new menu is a nice change but I still go with the salmon (sans Blueberry sauce)..."

  • "always a fun place to be. Good food, good wine. Our server was attentive even when it became quite busy. We arrived at 4:00 p.m. when it was very quiet but it did not take long to become busy. Still service was good. Easy to get to."

  • "A great place to go for lunch. Dine indoors or out. The varied menu has great choices using farm fresh northwest ingredients and fabulous Beecher's cheese. Enjoy great sandwiches, soups, salads and more hearty entrees. Works for business lunches or dining with friends. Enjoy!"

  • "Bennett's is a good place to eat lunch, but it is much too noisy for any table conversation. Food is good, but not exceptional. Too many tables crowded into a tight area. If you want to lunch alone or not talk with your companions, then by all means go. Service was pleasant."

  • "I like small portions but 2 itty bitty yam chips and 3 pieces of kale for a slaw was ridiculous. For the price I thought it was poor. Service was ok but I would not come back here. I live on mercer island and was hoping it would be a good spot for special occasion. I was disappointed. "

  • "food used to be fantastic, but now is bland and overpriced. $50 for a relatively plain salad, and a cake-like french toast, coffee and juice. Music is too loud for a brunch spot. This used to be our favorite brunch spot, but we won't likely go back. Service was very good however, from hostess to server."

  • "As usual, a very nice occasion. The mussels are outstanding, always plump and served with good toasted bread for sopping up the broth. "

  • "We dined there as a midway point for a meeting... this was my first visit. The parking is a little tricky in that the retail complex has outgrown the parking deck and the side lot and there is spill over onto a dirt/gravel/field of a lot that wasn't very vehicle friendly- next time I will drive a ATV to the place. Our server was a little lacking in explanation- I do admire a server that can take an order and not write it down. He was very concerned with our entire table's hydration needs- I sloshed getting back to the car to said rocky lot as we left. I ordered the an apple salad and the Beecher's mac and cheese... both great choices."

  • "The halibut I ordered was quite small. There were 2 very small pieces of purple potato and they were cold! The 2 pea vines were little more than decoration. The sauce was skimpy and the pistachios not to be found. What a terrible disappointment and ripoff!! "

  • "Small portions and overpriced. Starbucks would have been more exciting and satisfying. "

  • "Bennett's Pure Food Bistro offers a relaxing brunch atmosphere. The menu offered both breakfast and lunch times, so you have a choice on which part of brunch you would like to celebrate =) Their gluten free selections are slim, but there are some available. I chose the chicken chilaquiles, which is gluten free, and requested they not bring the complimentary scones to the table. The coffee was dark and robust, without being acidic. The staff was friendly and helpful, accomplished without visiting our table every five minutes and disrupting the flow of our conversation. Very enjoyable meal and dining experience "

  • "Bennett's has a niche all to itself on Mercer Island. Very reliable, good food with good service. Never inexpensive, but the product never disappoints. "

  • "We've had dinner at Bennett's many times before. Apparently they just remodeled, but it doesn't show. Compared to many previous times, the experience wasn't pleasant and the NEW menu was very limited. I was disappointed and probably will think twice about going back. Bob Mesher"

  • "I went to Bennett's on Saturday night with my elderly parents, who use a wheelchair and a walker between them. The staff and our server were especially patient and considerate with the extra time they needed to get seated, as well as stowing away their gear. Thank you for making it easy to take them there; it's one of their favorite places to go to dinner."

  • "The happy hour offerings are high quality. Much better than the deep fried food typically offered in bars. The happy hour menu is good at any table in the restaurant, and they accept reservations. Table servers have always been excellent. My family members are spread between Issaquah and Seattle. Bennett's is a great central location for us to meet for happy hour."

  • "Bennett's is a must enjoy, the space is casual and welcoming. Wines from local wineries and what seems to be farm to table menu. There is something for everyone. Appetizers, small plates, salads, entrees. The staff is helpful and encourages you to try new wines, suggesting pares to go well with your meal. We always have a great time and walk away wanting to go back. I suggest reservations."

  • "We ordered grilled mussels that seem steamed to me- I could see no sign of them touching a grill- the crab on the Cobb salad was less than fresh- the wife's burger was good, however. I found the 42 dollar charge for a 15 dollar bottle of apex chard a bit excessive"

  • "Four of us meet at Bennett's for lunch every other month. The service is pleasant, the food is good, but the menu is quite limited and could be a bit more adventuresome."

  • "Had indicated when making the on-line reservation that we needed gluten and dairy free menu and we were not advised that they did not have one."

  • "It's the best restaurant on Mercer Island so we frequent it often. They ran out of oysters and the waitress had to be brought our credit card as she disappeared after the meal, but given the options, it's okay for casual, easy to get to dining."

  • "Of course, the best of Mercer Island is not saying very much… But Bennett's has filled a void, and we are grateful for the good food and service they provide."

  • "The salmon, brocollini, risotto was phenomenol. I actually finished it and didn't feel overly full. The lighting and atmosphere was so romantic. Perfect for a valentines day dinner. I could go every day if I were rich."

  • "Very nice restaurant on Mercer Island. Small but adequate. Food and service were excellent. Cheese seems to be a specialty. Great place. Try it."

  • "Food is always excellent, and their happy hour prices are pretty good. Last few visits the service has noticeably improved and is now very good (used to be pretty slow). Our kids like it and they have a few spots for larger groups (like my family of 6), but really recommend it for 'Date Nights.'"

  • "Ordered the Caramel Cheesecake. The cayenne pepper on the popcorn and in the dessert was over powering which made it inedible. Worst dessert ever. The chocolate chip cookie and ice cream on the other hand was really good! Definitely will not order the cheesecake ever again. Ruined the dessert portion of the meal. Our guests were not impressed."

  • "Bennett's was really busy during happy hour on Friday so I was glad to have a reservation. I ended up ordering three plates from the happy hour menu, which was plenty and very reasonable. They are known for their macaroni & cheese (made with Beecher's Cheese), which is best as a side dish because it's so rich. Since the place was full, it was a little loud but we could still talk. The staff is friendly, and the service was attentive, except they didn't take away our plates after they were empty and I ended up stacking them on the table. In general, it's a warm, homey place in downtown Mercer Island with free parking in the garage."

  • "I live in the neighborhood and have been here twice -- once for brunch and another time for dinner. Let me start with the positives: the service is fabulous, and the restaurant decor and ambiance are both very nice. It's the only mid-high range semi-fine dining restaurant on Mercer Island. Now the negatives: the food is just nothing to write home about. I say this not to be a typical snobby foodie, but as a normal person who wants a good meal. don't appreciate paying mid-high prices for poorly executed food without an ounce of creativity. The restaurant looks good; the menu looks good (even the paper used to print the menu on); the staff is very nice; the wine list okay. But the food was just not good. I will not be coming back again."

  • "Ravioli had very fresh squash, but it was also stuffed with a gorgonzola cheese. Although a nice combination, there was too much cheese for my taste and I felt it overpowered the delicate squash. The flatbread we had beforehand was very good and with it being on happy hour, we ordered a second! Nice wine selection, but the $14/glass was a bit steep for us to consider ordering a second glass."

  • "Bennett's does a great job, easily the best restaurant on Mercer Island"

  • "Perhaps it was the holiday season but service at a table for three was awful. The waiter came to the table took a drink order for only one person and walked away even though the others at the table were prepared to order. After taking an order 10 minutes later from the other two, he returned with the wrong order. Food was average at best. We have had better experiences in the past at Bennett's and will try again but will not recommend until we see a change the next time."
