A word from Bennett's Pure Food Bistro
Welcome to Bennett's Pure Food Bistro

At Bennett's we are committed to serving pure, all-natural food. Here you won't find artificial preservatives, colors or sweeteners, flavor enhancers or hydrogenated oils. What you will find are the freshest, most authentic ingredients we can offer.

Most of our ingredients are deeply rooted in the Cascadia region – an area extending from northern California to southern Alaska, and the coast to the continental divide, taking in Washington, most of Oregon, Idaho and part of Montana.

We buy from producers who share our commitment to whole foods and handmade fare. People dedicated to the simple pleasures of creating delicious food and drink the way it was intended to be made; fresh from the earth, the sea and the vine.

Diner Reviews
  • "I went to Bennett's on Saturday night with my elderly parents, who use a wheelchair and a walker between them. The staff and our server were especially patient and considerate with the extra time they needed to get seated, as well as stowing away their gear. Thank you for making it easy to take them there; it's one of their favorite places to go to dinner."

  • "We were celebrating a special birthday and it was so nice at Bennett's . Food was good, service was wonderful."

  • "The happy hour offerings are high quality. Much better than the deep fried food typically offered in bars. The happy hour menu is good at any table in the restaurant, and they accept reservations. Table servers have always been excellent. My family members are spread between Issaquah and Seattle. Bennett's is a great central location for us to meet for happy hour."

  • "Bennett's is a must enjoy, the space is casual and welcoming. Wines from local wineries and what seems to be farm to table menu. There is something for everyone. Appetizers, small plates, salads, entrees. The staff is helpful and encourages you to try new wines, suggesting pares to go well with your meal. We always have a great time and walk away wanting to go back. I suggest reservations."

  • "We ordered grilled mussels that seem steamed to me- I could see no sign of them touching a grill- the crab on the Cobb salad was less than fresh- the wife's burger was good, however. I found the 42 dollar charge for a 15 dollar bottle of apex chard a bit excessive"

  • "Four of us meet at Bennett's for lunch every other month. The service is pleasant, the food is good, but the menu is quite limited and could be a bit more adventuresome."

  • "Had indicated when making the on-line reservation that we needed gluten and dairy free menu and we were not advised that they did not have one."

  • "It's the best restaurant on Mercer Island so we frequent it often. They ran out of oysters and the waitress had to be brought our credit card as she disappeared after the meal, but given the options, it's okay for casual, easy to get to dining."

  • "Of course, the best of Mercer Island is not saying very much… But Bennett's has filled a void, and we are grateful for the good food and service they provide."

  • "Didn't know they stopped using coins...bartender rounded up from under 50cents & totally annoyed our guests."

  • "The salmon, brocollini, risotto was phenomenol. I actually finished it and didn't feel overly full. The lighting and atmosphere was so romantic. Perfect for a valentines day dinner. I could go every day if I were rich."

  • "Very nice restaurant on Mercer Island. Small but adequate. Food and service were excellent. Cheese seems to be a specialty. Great place. Try it."

  • "Food is always excellent, and their happy hour prices are pretty good. Last few visits the service has noticeably improved and is now very good (used to be pretty slow). Our kids like it and they have a few spots for larger groups (like my family of 6), but really recommend it for 'Date Nights.'"

  • "Ordered the Caramel Cheesecake. The cayenne pepper on the popcorn and in the dessert was over powering which made it inedible. Worst dessert ever. The chocolate chip cookie and ice cream on the other hand was really good! Definitely will not order the cheesecake ever again. Ruined the dessert portion of the meal. Our guests were not impressed."

  • "Bennett's was really busy during happy hour on Friday so I was glad to have a reservation. I ended up ordering three plates from the happy hour menu, which was plenty and very reasonable. They are known for their macaroni & cheese (made with Beecher's Cheese), which is best as a side dish because it's so rich. Since the place was full, it was a little loud but we could still talk. The staff is friendly, and the service was attentive, except they didn't take away our plates after they were empty and I ended up stacking them on the table. In general, it's a warm, homey place in downtown Mercer Island with free parking in the garage."

  • "I live in the neighborhood and have been here twice -- once for brunch and another time for dinner. Let me start with the positives: the service is fabulous, and the restaurant decor and ambiance are both very nice. It's the only mid-high range semi-fine dining restaurant on Mercer Island. Now the negatives: the food is just nothing to write home about. I say this not to be a typical snobby foodie, but as a normal person who wants a good meal. don't appreciate paying mid-high prices for poorly executed food without an ounce of creativity. The restaurant looks good; the menu looks good (even the paper used to print the menu on); the staff is very nice; the wine list okay. But the food was just not good. I will not be coming back again."

  • "Ravioli had very fresh squash, but it was also stuffed with a gorgonzola cheese. Although a nice combination, there was too much cheese for my taste and I felt it overpowered the delicate squash. The flatbread we had beforehand was very good and with it being on happy hour, we ordered a second! Nice wine selection, but the $14/glass was a bit steep for us to consider ordering a second glass."

  • "Bennett's does a great job, easily the best restaurant on Mercer Island"

  • "Perhaps it was the holiday season but service at a table for three was awful. The waiter came to the table took a drink order for only one person and walked away even though the others at the table were prepared to order. After taking an order 10 minutes later from the other two, he returned with the wrong order. Food was average at best. We have had better experiences in the past at Bennett's and will try again but will not recommend until we see a change the next time."

  • "I have had very good food here but was disappointed this time. The lunch salad had obviously been sitting in the fridge for a while. It just wasn't the food quality I have come to expect. Sandwich wasn't great. I've had very good dinners here though."

  • "Our visit to Bennett's Bistro was pretty good. The food was alright, with the exception of the Mac and Cheese, which was superb! I could eat a giant bowl of it! The service was great and our waitress was simply charming. I find Bennett's a little overpriced, but I guess you have to consider location. It's on Mercer Island, after all! Everything here is overpriced. All in all, a good experience."

  • "I eat at Bennetts often: Great food, excellent service. I like sitting in the booths. The area has soft surfaces/carpet and is more quiet. This restaurant is dialed in to the right food at the right price in the right location. The Happy Hour is a REAL treat. SUGGESTION" If a guest says they will drink water for the meal, I wonder if you could offer to bring them a large glass or provide more bottles in the first place? It would improve my experience in what is already an excellent restaurant."

  • "We don't come here often enough. I'm always surprised at how consistently good this place is. Service is friendly, food is inventive without being pretentious, and the wine list is well chosen with (gasp) reasonable prices."

  • "I really like their happy hour concept - nice arrangement of snacks. I would like more than one red and one white wine choice, however."

  • "REally great, wholesome food. Nice find in the Seattle market."

  • "The food was very good and the waiter did a nice job. However, we had participated in restaurant week and had a terrible time getting a corrected bill. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure three times fifteen is forty-five. The hostess was very confrontational and refused to acknowledge that we were correct and the bill was wrong. Finally the second time she agreed but would not come back with the corrected bill and sent someone else. She should have apologized and had to face a situation that she of her own doing made hostile. Ruined a good meal for us."

  • "Food was more spicey than advertised. Mac and cheeese was excellent. Wait staff was friendly but felt rushed. There was no time between courses."

  • "If you are looking for for a casual place with good quality food, Bennett's is it. They pride themselves on using quality natural ingredients and it shows through in their food. Their claim the best Mac 'n Cheese in the world - and I have to say it is not an unreasonable claim. It is very good although technically, it is penne and cheese that they serve. Highly recommended!"

  • "Three of us have met here several times. We originally chose it for the location but keep going back because of the food. Brunch is excellent. Great service with friendly, helpful, patient wait staff. I have dietary restrictions and have never had any problems with having my food prepared the way I request it. We will keep going back for more."

  • "The food we received in the restaurant was awesome.....as always; however I got a take out order of mac and cheese for my son. When I got home and he opened the container to eat his dinner, 3/4 of his dinner was burnt......like we got the scraps at the bottom of the pan!! He was very disappointed!!!"

  • "Dinner with friends. Delicious to really good food, excellent service. The indoor/outdoor dining possibilities, great location and indoor parking make Bennetts oen of my go-to places. As an islander it's nice to be able to get a great meal without going off island - especially if the Mariners are playing and the 90 is a mess. It's also been great for business lunch or brunch with friends. I love their mussels appetizer and find it more that sufficient as an entree for me. Halibut and scallops were praised by others at our table."
