A word from Bennett's Chop & Railhouse
In every city, there is a natural gathering spot for city folk and neighborhood people in the know. This place in Saint Paul is know as Bennett's Chop & Railhouse. Located on West Seventh & Victoria, it is the perfect meeting place of uptown and downtown, of quiet neighborhood and big city lights.

It's called a chophouse because it specializes in a casual steakhouse atmosphere with top-of-the-line cuts of the finest meats. It is a Rail-house because it is on the old railroad line serving the city and rail drinks (as well as top brands) are served in the convivial atmosphere of the horseshoe bar.

And of course Bennett's is Bennett's because owners Joe and Meghan Bennett ensure that welcoming hospitality is always served. They have taken their decades of experiences with leading hospitality brands and translated it into an intimate venue where you're not only a customer, but more importantly, a welcome guest.

The food is great, with sizable portions, and cooked the way you ordered. The service was adequate. This is a fixture in St. Paul, and is what you expect from a steak house.

They only had a table for two by the front door. So we left and went to another restaurant. Can't complain about something we didn't participate in. Must be an OK place if it was that busy. They did have an open booth but said they were saving it for a larger party.

Open tables this and was immediately seated. Full house 15 min later. Server was perfect, kitchen ran out of felt at 7:30 on a Sat. Walleye and Prime rib both were above average, cocktails were perfect. Small place, old character and prof clientele. We'll be back.

Not sure what they're trying to pull off here! It's like a neighborhood sports bar, with fine dining in the middle. The tables had linen tablecloths, linen napkins, but 10 feet from our table was a very old fashioned bar. The entire place had TVs all around! It was so noisy that our table of 5 couldn't even hear each other talk! What do they want? Is it a sports bar? Or a restaurant? Looked very run-down! The cost of our meal was too high. We won't be back!

Bennetts's was not what I expected based on what I had heard from others. It's a quaint local place, very small inside, no frills; street parking from what we could find. Extensive menu, friendly, good food but extremely slow service. We dined on an event night and used the shuttle to XCEL. Had the Little Charlie's and split the plate. Very tasty. Someone else in the party had Chophouse Tender Tips app. It was fantastic! The owner makes his way around tables and is also the shuttle bus driver.

We had the Stuffed Mushroom appetizer, and Creole Meatloaf and Cajun Chicken Fettuccine for entrees. Very tasty! It was busy due to a concert that night, but we were pleased with the service and the staff seemed to work together and were attentive. The free shuttle to the concert was a bonus! We would definitely go back.

4 of us went before a concert that was going on down the street. We had made reservations a couple of days beforehand. None of us had been here before, but we had heard good things. A nice place with a Fantastic menu. All of our food was prepared just the way we had ordered. Our service was fantastic, the food arrived in a timely fashion and we all left the table feeling very good about our choice of place to eat at.

Went for dinner before a concert at the Fitz, not realizing the Wild were also playing that night! Great food, but super crowded and VERY noisy with pre-game bar crowd. Want to go again when Wild are not playing -- way too many delicious-sounding great choices on the menu! And seriously great value for the level of food quality you get for the price!

Food was above average. Server and staff were excellent. Nice local spot with good food and fair prices. Only drawback was the overly loud 80's/90's hip hop music. Marky Mark, Lauren Hill, Young MC-it was awful and not at all appropriate to the atmosphere. Overall a good stop though.

Bennett's is only 1 1/2 blocks from my daughter's home so we can avoid parking. The service is always good and the food excellent. It's a popular spot for folks to grab a meal and head to the Wild games via several shuttles. We usually only go for special occasions as it it a little high end but still manage to get there 3 - 4 times a year. The Chophouse salad is my favorite thing there.

We had made reservations, but when we got there, we were placed right next to the bar stools and noisy drinkers. The quieter area was supposedly reserved for those taking the bus to the Pearl Jam concert; it was not full. We could not be accommodated when we asked to move to a quieter spot. Service was slow to begin with, although the waitress was personable and attempted to make up for the slowness. Food was ok. We're not sure we will go back there.

Went to Bennets last Friday with my husband and another couple. Everyone had a great time. The food was excellent and the service was very good. The only negative thing was that we were put in a booth under a speaker so the music was kind of loud. My husband had the scallops and risotto and loved them. My girlfriend had the chicken brie and asparagus sandwich which she's had before and it's her favorite. I had the Rueban Eggrolls and the other guy had the Seafood Risotto. Very Good! We'll defina

Little neighborhood spot that we have driven past a million times. Looking for a place to take the hubby on our anniversary, checked online. They had me at Wednesday special 10 oz Flat Iron. Walked in, not sure if we seated ourselves. Pretty empty except around the bar ;) of course the next 3 couples came in and sat in the tables next to us. Waitress was very friendly, a little slow at times and forgetful. She went to get our beer refills and didn't remember until she came back to check on us. However the food was FANTASTIC!!! Few places have flat iron's on their menu, and fewer yet can cook them right! Mine was done perfectly, mashed potatoes and gravy could have been a little bigger helping, but tasty. Three berry tart to end. C U SOON!

We tried Bennett's on the strength of their best food in St. Paul ranking on OpenTable. As we drove up, the small building looked like a small, neighborhood bar and frankly was not very appealing. But we went in and had a marvelous dinner ... a very nice surprise.

One of us had the walleye dinner and the other had the baby back rib dinner. Both were tasty and a great value with a delicious chopped salad, corn on the cob, and au gratin potatoes included - all for only $20! Wish we had been hungrier because the 1/2 price appetizer choices looked good. The carrot cake is outstanding. The building's exterior and small, dark entrance is not too inviting, but the food is great once you get inside.

I picked out this place for my family to go and I am so glad we tried it! It is a hidden place which means that it is not too busy but still has awesome food! Even with my grandmother, who usually finds something to complain about, had nothing bad to say. The food and portions of the food were perfect! The service provided by our waiter and the support staff was spectacular. They weren't annoying but were attentive so you didn't feel forgotten. None of us felt pressured to get anything either, which is nice. I really appreciate that this place accepts reservations, especially with the group size we had. I only had one negative thing to say is that it was a little hard to hear everyone talk but it wasn't a make or break issue.

Old neighboorhood joint. My wife and I had to take a friend out whose hubby was gone for a month and she needed to escape her daughter. She ordered walleye, my wife the prime rib and myself the roasted chicken. Not one of us was disappointed with our meal. Our friend enjoyed the "Gummy Bear" cocktail and my wife her Midiori and pineapple juice. All of us were very pleased with the level of service. Soup came with dinner and each of us had the asparagus and mushroom soup, very good.

I found this place by accident. We wanted to eat at a restuarant near Cosettas and could not get in until 7. I looked on line for places near by and this one came up. It had great reviews and decided to try it. We loved it. The martinis were large. The cheesy potatoes, chopped salad and steak were to die for. The chef came to our table to see how our food was. We will return and bring more of our friends. As other have said on line, from the outside it does not look like much but great atmosphere inside.

The prime rib was very good. I would suggest it to anyone who enjoys good prime rib. I was disappointed they didn't accept my coupon because it was a "special event night. The restaurant runs bus trips to sports events and concerts. I was not aware of the fact they would not accept my coupon when I made the reservation. This wouldn't stop me from going back to Bennetts.
