A word from Bennett's Chop & Railhouse
In every city, there is a natural gathering spot for city folk and neighborhood people in the know. This place in Saint Paul is know as Bennett's Chop & Railhouse. Located on West Seventh & Victoria, it is the perfect meeting place of uptown and downtown, of quiet neighborhood and big city lights.

It's called a chophouse because it specializes in a casual steakhouse atmosphere with top-of-the-line cuts of the finest meats. It is a Rail-house because it is on the old railroad line serving the city and rail drinks (as well as top brands) are served in the convivial atmosphere of the horseshoe bar.

And of course Bennett's is Bennett's because owners Joe and Meghan Bennett ensure that welcoming hospitality is always served. They have taken their decades of experiences with leading hospitality brands and translated it into an intimate venue where you're not only a customer, but more importantly, a welcome guest.

We love Bennett's! The food is always wonderful and the service is great. Crab cakes and scallops for appetizers, and such a tough decision for dinner: the chicken kiev is excellent, but this time I had the filet and it was so tender! We'll go back again for sure!

Food as always delicious. The seafood risotto was fabulous the steak perfect and the mushrooms and beef tips perfect. The waiter was attentive but not obtrusive. From the outside you would never know you were going to have 5 star food. Highly recommend.

  • Three words FLAT IRON STEAK

    Dined on 9/10/2014
Little neighborhood spot that we have driven past a million times. Looking for a place to take the hubby on our anniversary, checked online. They had me at Wednesday special 10 oz Flat Iron. Walked in, not sure if we seated ourselves. Pretty empty except around the bar ;) of course the next 3 couples came in and sat in the tables next to us. Waitress was very friendly, a little slow at times and forgetful. She went to get our beer refills and didn't remember until she came back to check on us. However the food was FANTASTIC!!! Few places have flat iron's on their menu, and fewer yet can cook them right! Mine was done perfectly, mashed potatoes and gravy could have been a little bigger helping, but tasty. Three berry tart to end. C U SOON!

We tried Bennett's on the strength of their best food in St. Paul ranking on OpenTable. As we drove up, the small building looked like a small, neighborhood bar and frankly was not very appealing. But we went in and had a marvelous dinner ... a very nice surprise.

One of us had the walleye dinner and the other had the baby back rib dinner. Both were tasty and a great value with a delicious chopped salad, corn on the cob, and au gratin potatoes included - all for only $20! Wish we had been hungrier because the 1/2 price appetizer choices looked good. The carrot cake is outstanding. The building's exterior and small, dark entrance is not too inviting, but the food is great once you get inside.

I picked out this place for my family to go and I am so glad we tried it! It is a hidden place which means that it is not too busy but still has awesome food! Even with my grandmother, who usually finds something to complain about, had nothing bad to say. The food and portions of the food were perfect! The service provided by our waiter and the support staff was spectacular. They weren't annoying but were attentive so you didn't feel forgotten. None of us felt pressured to get anything either, which is nice. I really appreciate that this place accepts reservations, especially with the group size we had. I only had one negative thing to say is that it was a little hard to hear everyone talk but it wasn't a make or break issue.

Old neighboorhood joint. My wife and I had to take a friend out whose hubby was gone for a month and she needed to escape her daughter. She ordered walleye, my wife the prime rib and myself the roasted chicken. Not one of us was disappointed with our meal. Our friend enjoyed the "Gummy Bear" cocktail and my wife her Midiori and pineapple juice. All of us were very pleased with the level of service. Soup came with dinner and each of us had the asparagus and mushroom soup, very good.

Heading to a concert in St Paul, we were looking for a nice place to eat before the show. We found Bennett's on the web and were delighted that the food was excellent! I had the filet and my husband had the 22 oz ribeye! Sooo good! It has a neighborhood type atmosphere, not fancy but perfect for a date night!

I found this place by accident. We wanted to eat at a restuarant near Cosettas and could not get in until 7. I looked on line for places near by and this one came up. It had great reviews and decided to try it. We loved it. The martinis were large. The cheesy potatoes, chopped salad and steak were to die for. The chef came to our table to see how our food was. We will return and bring more of our friends. As other have said on line, from the outside it does not look like much but great atmosphere inside.

The prime rib was very good. I would suggest it to anyone who enjoys good prime rib. I was disappointed they didn't accept my coupon because it was a "special event night. The restaurant runs bus trips to sports events and concerts. I was not aware of the fact they would not accept my coupon when I made the reservation. This wouldn't stop me from going back to Bennetts.

Located on West 7th Street west of downtown St. Paul this well known iconic establishment continues to serve up solid food as it has done for years and years. The tenderloin medallion "sliders" commonly referred to a "Little Charlies" are tender and juicy with onions and a little horseradish sauce to jazz them up. There is also the Trio Medley consisting of three tenderloin medallions (sans bun) with a roasted wild mushroom bleu cheese sauce on one, caramelized onions and bernaise sauce on another, and lastly, one with a horseradish sauce. other wonderful standards are the braised ribs, Cajun meatloaf and chicken pot pie. A great neighborhood bar scene filled with locals all night long. Great place and a must stop in St. Paul.

We had reservations (good idea if you are going on a game night) and were seated right away, our drinks came out quick as well as the food. The place was alive as the Wild were playing that night (we were going to the game). The food was delicious! We got the Juicy Lucy & the Jucy Juanita both were great! Our server asked if we were taking the shuttle and got our bill to us quick so we could catch the next one leaving. The driver of the shuttle was quick to get us down to the game and pick us back up. There is not a lot of parking so be prepared to park on the street but it was awesome that they offer shuttle service so you aren't paying upword of $20 just to park near the Xcel Center.
