A word from Bennett's Chop & Railhouse
In every city, there is a natural gathering spot for city folk and neighborhood people in the know. This place in Saint Paul is know as Bennett's Chop & Railhouse. Located on West Seventh & Victoria, it is the perfect meeting place of uptown and downtown, of quiet neighborhood and big city lights.

It's called a chophouse because it specializes in a casual steakhouse atmosphere with top-of-the-line cuts of the finest meats. It is a Rail-house because it is on the old railroad line serving the city and rail drinks (as well as top brands) are served in the convivial atmosphere of the horseshoe bar.

And of course Bennett's is Bennett's because owners Joe and Meghan Bennett ensure that welcoming hospitality is always served. They have taken their decades of experiences with leading hospitality brands and translated it into an intimate venue where you're not only a customer, but more importantly, a welcome guest.

  • The smoked salmon and tenderloin

The smoked salmon and tenderloin tips appetizers were wonderful. The house chopped salad was excellent. For the main course I had the pork chops. They were great. We tried both the chocolate and carrot cakes. Both were very good. I highly recommend this place. It's an upscale comfortable bar with table cloths.

A real diamond in the rough with great chopped salad, au gratin potatoes, walleye and sirloin. The Manhattan's were superior and so was the service. We will go back.

This was my first time at Bennett's and it was the best! I took my boyfriend out for the Little Charlies after trying them at the Taste of MN and they were wonderful! Not to mention they happened to have the best all you can eat crab leg special that night! The au gratin potatoes were to die for and the house chopped salad tasted wonderful. We will be back! Make sure to get your reservations as the dining room is small.

Wonderful experience - love the chopped house salad. There were several large parties this night so it was a little noisy, but not too bad.

Our waiter was very good. The food was outstanding. We have had dinner there quite a few times before but Friday night was the best food we have had there.

  • The food was great!! We went

The food was great!! We went there for my dads birthday and we all enjoyed it! The only negative comment is that usually restaurants do something for a birthday (ie. Free dessert) this restauant doesn't do anything. We still got dessert, a piece of carrot cake. It was delicious and huge, big enough for three people or more to share!! Good find.

I find Bennett's an ideal location for business lunches. The quiet atmosphere, great food, fine service, the precise formula to discuss business over lunch.

  • Our table was very disappointed
    Hungry
    Dined on 7/11/2009
Our table was very disappointed on all levels, except service. Salads were overpriced for what was delivered - a bunch of chopped up lettuce, had to really look for the meat in the Chef's salad. Very few people were there and yet we had to wait longer than we thought for our food - guess it was all that chopping! We all said that we wouldn't go back. Note though we are rating the place "quiet", I'm guessing at a different time (like Happy Hour) it won't be as quiet.

  • Casual neighborhood chophouse
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 6/27/2009
Casual neighborhood chophouse which provides friendly service, good food and reasonable prices. We started off with the crab cakes, they were delicious and would make a good entry for a light eater. The chop salad was also enjoyable. Other diners received bread sticks with their salads but we were not and we didn't ask for them because we didn't see them until we were on the main course. I had petite filet and my husbnd had the prime rib special. We ordered our beef medium and they were done perfectly. We had augratin potatoes and they were also good, a little dry, but still enjoyable. We went to the Ordway after dinner. One wonderful service Bennett's offers is a free shuttle to the X-cel Ccenter and to the Ordway.
