While the food overall was good in the group there were a few shortcomings. My barbecue chicken pizza had excellent flavor but was overdone, as was the fried egg that topped it (rubbery edges, yoke not runny). The other dishes at our table seemed appropriately done. Dessert was a miss. The gelato of the day was chalky, bland and lacked the smoothness. The sorbet was better. The chocolate cake looked amazing but was just okay. The only dessert that was finished at the table was the s'more bread pudding. I did not try that one personally, but everyone that did seemed pleased. Mimosas and omelettes and of course, the crusted chicken! And don't forget about the mixed muffin plates you are offered at the beginning of the meal. Yum yum! I personally think the brunch is FAR better than a regular meal there, so it works both ways (for those who like or hate their regular offerings). The service was awesome, everyone was friendly and quick, and though it was noisy, it was not so much so that I could not have a conversation. Most restaurants tend to scale back on fixed menus and/or big holidays, but not at Benjy's. The service was outstanding and the food was decadent. I am such a foodie and the nut crusted french toasted and their spin on the corn beef hash was mind blowing. They even gave my mom a free mimosa. I will definitely be coming back to this amazing brunch place time and time again.
