Tried Benjamin's for the second time this past week. We both ordered the Sirloin which was greasy and fatty. Have had much better steaks elsewhere. Small amount of house wine was $11 and wasn't great. Bread was hard as a rock. Waiter never cleaned our table between courses and had to be reminded. Tables were so close together that we heard entire conversation of the people next to us. The best part of the meal was the french fries and onion rings, which were good but also greasy. The whole experience felt rushed, with the steak coming minutes after our salad course. Two strikes and you're out...we won't be back.

Short and sweet: LOVED IT. Food was impeccable from appetizer to dessert. Service could not have been better...everyone friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Wine list was impressive and atmosphere was elegant but also inviting. Would return time and time again, and this was not our first time there.

Had a small but tasty, thin (3/4"-1" thick) strip steak with decent, not great, creamed spinach. Wedge salad short on its thin blue cheese dressing. I wonder why, during restaurant week, restaurants give short shrift to their special menu. I'd think they would want to show first-time customers how great they are and make the customer want to come back again. Ice cream/sorbet dessert good. Steak small but good, salad weak and dessert good. Will I go back? Maybe.

We went for restaurant week since the prices are pretty steep on the regular menu. It was quite busy and noisy. The lobster bisque was tepid and unusually thick but tasty. The salad looked like it came out of the mixed greens box you get at the supermarket. Our sirloin steak did not appear to be "sirloin" but looked and tasted much more like a shell steak. The waiter insisted it was a thin sirloin with a bone. Whichever, it was well prepared and enjoyable. The sides were served family style and were a bit small. We didn't care for the creamed spinach and no substitutions were allowed. Overall, for a restaurant week spot, it was good but not compelling enough to return for regular prices.

Had a reservation set for three weeks. When my party arrived we were sat in a tiny room on top of other people right by the door with a curtain blocking is from the main bar area. We could feel the breeze and cod everytime someone would open the door. When we asked to close the curtain the manager wouldn't help us out. Unacceptable for a steakhouse with the prices on the menu.

  • Wait Staff Professionalism?
    sepa49
    Dined on 11/6/2014
From all the raves about this restaurant, I have to say that I was disappointed. I felt as though the the wait staff was very unprofessional and not refined for a restaurant of its caliber. Not once but throughout the meal, waiters rudely crossed in front of its patrons to gather or pass plates. Then, when the steak knives were being delivered, I feared that they were haphazardly pointed so close to my face and eyes, that blood was going to be drawn. I rarely comment on a dining experience,h but since you have a good reputation, I know that you want to keep at that.

Been to all the steak houses in the City and Boca Raton. Went for special occasion which was not acknowledged. Salad very pedestrian at best. Filet did nor even come close to being a filet. Strip steak not thick and juicy-not even close to steak house quality. Place is really overhyped. Even the coffee was bad

Once again my friends and I had an outstanding dinner at Benjamin's. This time we ordered a lot of different appetizers and they were all fantastic, especially the Canadian bacon. I'm a big fan of the wedge salad too. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and as always, the staff and service were outstanding - Lenny is always the best. I love this place...whether it is for a special occasion or normal night out, we always have a wonderful time. Look forward to being there again soon!

Appetizers were great, salad was warm and limp. New salads were similar. Steak was perfect, sides delicious. Steak for two was enough for 3 so we took it home along with the leftover sides. Since we planned to have the steak the next day for lunch we asked for the bread to be added to our take home. Unfortunately, the bread was never put into the bag. We know that they are supposed to throw away any bread that is left but we just wonder about that as the basket, when it was brought to our table, had bits of broccoli in it. We have been there before and will probably go again.

We went to Benjamin for our 42nd wedding anniversary. The steak for two (porterhouse) was wonderful, with a great crust on it, and cooked perfectly to medium rare. Pretty much matched up with Peter Luger in Brooklyn as far as the steak, but much nicer ambiance and staff than Peter Luger. The side dishes and Caesar salad were all very good. Service was very attentive and friendly, without being overbearing. Decor is traditional fine steakhouse, with dark wood and leather. Leather coverings on much of the the walls absorbs noise, and the noise level was very low, which we appreciated. We went on a Wednesday night, so it was only about 2/3rds full, but I think it would be very good noise-wise even on a weekend.

If you want the best steak around, go to Benjamin's and order the steak for two (or three, etc.). We get it every time we go and it never fails to please - such great flavor. They have many side dishes that are all good and you can round out your meal with a good cup of coffee and a sweet and tasty dessert. The staff is so attentive and friendly and are so professional. They see to your every need while dining. If you are looking for a special romantic night out - get a table by the huge fireplace during the colder seasons.

Always passed by this steakhouse and was curious to see how it was. When I went, the food wasn't bad but I thought that it was a bit pricey compared to the taste. The taste wasn't fantastic or amazing, but it was decent. It is written on the menu that they age their steaks themselves, so that could be the reason for the steaks to be pricey but the sides - not so much. I did enjoy the steak (got the Filet Mignon) but I think they also need to work on their steak sauce - I found it to be a bit too sweet for the steak... perhaps something more savory would pair well. Waiters were very nice and accommodating. Service was good and food was good but I don't think I'd come back again. Once was enough.

Have dined here 4 or 5 times and have always found everything from food to service, terrific. We started with one piece of bacon and one order of tomato & mozzarella, and shared. More than enough for 2. Instead of a steak, I tried the rack of lamb this time. 5 nicely sized and perfectly prepared chops, tender, juicy, really delicious. It's a pricey entree but worth every penny. Creamed spinach and baked potato both fine. No interest in dessert, but the cappuccino was served hot, as it should be but somehow often isn't. Best place for steak (or lamb!) in Westchester.

The prices are "special occasion", the food is good, the steak excellent. The service was great. The ambience is a bit stuffy and quiet early in the evening, a lot of leather and 90's steakhouse sort of touches. Otherwise, a nice place for a good steak, as good as Morton's, Ruth's Chris etc. business lunch/dinners would be perfect.

When i made the reservation, I noted that it was a birthday dinner for my husband's 72st. Was pleasantly surprised when, at the end of our meal, 3 waiters came singing "Happy Birthday" and bearing a slice of chocolate cake with a candle! Nice touch!!! I would have given it 'Outstanding' but it was very noisy, even though we were tucked in a corner. Service was excellent with one comment: my husband ordered the lamb chops and a side of creamed spinach. Our waiter should have told him that the lamb chops come served over sauteed spinach with garlic! Husband would have ordered a different side.

Good steaks, nice atmosphere. Priced as expected for a steak house. Broad, interesting choice in salads and vegetables, but made the mistake of ordering "home fries" which were just potato chips! Only complaint is that although steak filet was good quality and cooked as requested (med. rare) it had NO exterior signs of it cooking.. Tasted great, but all 3 steaks just looked gray on the outside (no char, no sear marks, no nothing!) Not very appealing on the plate... Service was excellant!

We visited this restaurant after a NY Yankkes game. It is easy to get to if you are heading to Upstate NY. The menu is the sane as the Benjamin in NYC, so the steaks and chops are fantastic. We started dinner with salads (two wedge and one mesclun) and they were fresh and crispy. They were able to customize the salads to our particular liking. The steaks (NY strip and a rib steak) were done to our liking and the side dishes were plenty big to share. The veal chop was big and tender. We sat out on their patio because the weather was perfect - not too hot and low humidity. We were happy they suggested we try it. It was a memorable evening after a baseball game.
