  • "Visited restaurant to celebrate 2 birthdays. We were a group of 7 women. Our chef (entertainer) delighted us with his knife skills, personality and cooking expertise. He was respectful of the two guests who are allergic to shrimp and cooked our meals very cautiously. A tofu alternative appetizer was provided for the 2 allergic guests. At the end of our delicious meal, a photograph of our group was taken and presented to each of the birthday ladies as a wonderful souvenir of a totally delightful evening. We will definitely return to Benihana."

Service good and we went to our table and got drinks The only I can say is the food had too much salt and the preparation was boring The last time we dined the cook was more engaging and fun . This one was kinda boring We got home to looking for a bathroom !"

  • "The food was great but this is definitely something you'd rather do as a group. I took my girlfriend here expecting to have a romantic date......epic fail.....I was totally unaware that we would have to share a table with a party of five that we didn't even know......this is something that should be advertised when directed to the website.......also the waitress and the chef share the tip so I was left leaving a extremely large tip to ensure that the waitress was properly compensated."

Most of the people around us had their winter coats on! Also, we missed the old Japanese experience...most of the chefs were definitely not Japanese."

  • "I always love Benihana, but this location was a first visit. Don't know what was wrong with the ventilation, but we all ended up smelling like the food after we left. Our jackets soaked up all the smell from the neighbor tables. It was fine when our table was cooking, but after it was done and even before our table, overwhelming fishy smell kind of left a bad taste..."

The hibachi chicken was a bit dry and the spider roll appetizer was below average in quality and higher cost than many places. The service overall was just adequate ."

When we got home my daughter wasn't feeling well and the next morning my wife didn't feel well either. Not sure if the restaurant was the source but we could not come up with anything else. My wife is a steak lover who wants it nearly raw and most restaurants have some difficulty in preparing it that way. Her Hibachi Steak was exactly the way she preferred and was served at the same time as those for the rest of our group. The only negative I found was that dessert was no longer included with dinner."

  • "For a Japanese steakhouse, this was by far the worst one. The prices are inflated and the food is bland and sparce. When you order the trio of filet, chicken and shrimp, you expect to at least be full. I was served 5 pieces of chicken and 6 chunks of shrimp. The chicken fried rice that you are conned into purchasing was less desirable to be kind. Everything I ate, with the exception of the soup, needed to be dipped in a sauce. Our "chef" was boring and not interactive with anyone at the table. His only trick was flipping a shrimp tail into his shirt pocket. Even the onion volcano was disastrous. Overall, it was a waste of time and money. Very disappointing."

  • "It was my first time at this restaurant. The food was incredible - I really enjoyed watching them prepare the food right in front of me. The server was very friendly and went out of his way to help me and my husband as newbies to the restaurant. The ambiance was dim, quiet and just lovely. The only bad thing about our stay was the 'show'. I wasn't expecting anything immaculate, but the chef just didn't do much entertaining. He just smacked his tools around a lot while cooking. He never smiled. It didn't bother me so much, but seeing the table next to us (with a very lively Chef) made me realize that we missed Out on a better experience, especially as first timers."

  • "Took my work group for our Holiday lunch as the table seats 8 and we just fit perfectly. A couple of my people have not been to a Teppanyaki style restaurant before. This added to the quality of the luncheon as these folks were exposed to truly fine food served in a uniquely refined manner and at a reasonable price. 8 people $140 and half of them had Filet and something else (personally like the Filet and scallops). Sure the Filet is an upcharge on the luncheon menu, but it is worth it (the standard Beef Jullienne is great, too). I only had one disappointment - no onion volcano or shrimp tail toss (just a kid at heart), but no one else noticed due to the wonderfully animated and relaxed conversation at the table. Highly recommend."

  • "Our New Years Eve dinner was completely ruined by how unbelievably cold it was in the restaurant. The management kept making excuses as to how there was nothing they could do. Meanwhile, what normally is a fun and interesting show of chef skills, turned out to be a painfully uncomfortable , miserable experience. Everyone at our table and those around us were wearing their coats and were still cold as there was a constant breeze coming from all around. What a total disappointment and especially since management did nothing to make it better."

  • "We love Benihana. We decided to try a different site than Schaumburg so we went to Wheeling. It definitely was very disappointing. The food wasn't as good, the service was slow, and the atmosphere was chilling. The food was heavily peppered. They had a cream sauce instead of the mustard sauce, and there was a lot of salad dressing. Service was very slow. There were only two of us and it took over two hours! We won't be going back. We'll stick with Schaumburg. On a side note, I read the menu and there was a blurb that indicated they were making some changes to their foods service. I hope this wasn't it. If it is, they won't be my favorite anymore and I'll have to pick another restaurant."

  • "The hibachi chef did a very good job and the food quality and taste is what I expect from Benihana and really enjoyed it. The bad part is that the management of the restaurant has real problems duty lack of organization, possibly training, and number of servers and their responsibilities or perhaps lack of organization/set up in the kitchen. Service was extremely slow, like I have never experienced before at a Benihana. I don't blame the server, but how they have things set up. Tables were not getting turned in what would be normal. I will try it again because I enjoy hibachi style food, but if service is the same, I doubt that I would go back. I also question if they have enough chefs."

  • "Benihana always has great food and the chef keeps the kids entertained. This location did not disappoint. My only complaint would be about the childrens menu. It is basically the same as the adult menu and if your kids are as picky as mine, its a waste of money because they will not eat it."

  • "We went there this past weekend with our family (4 year old included) for my husband's birthday. We had a lot of fun! Benihana is an oldie but a goodie! Food was delicious and cooked precisely. Their cocktail menu was a mile long, and we all enjoyed it. Service was very good and timely. No complaints at all, just a fun, easy place to go!"

  • "Made reservations here because my mom was in town and loves hibachi grill restaurants. Overall, we were disappointed in the food. The service was okay but the food was average at best. It was defiantly not worth the premium price. We were expecting a bit more of a show to be put on by the chef. He was also very soft spoken so it was very hard to hear what he was saying over the noise of the restaurant."

The food is great and comes with a show. ;-) The service is always very good, drink refills are quick and because the chef is standing right in front of you cooking we have never had a mistake that wasn't rectified immediately. Over the years it has become a little more commercial in their offerings but it is what it is and its delicious and a good time nonetheless."
