  • "The food was delicious but our waitress seemed confused and didn't pay much attention to us- we waited a very long time for the bill and we were her only table. She was also almost whispering. None of us could hear what she was saying. Now the chef who cooked our meal at the table was great and charismatic. However, when I think of teppanyaki I think of a show. The only thing he did besides cook our food was make a little onion volcano. The food was delicious in the end. I just expected a lot more."

The chef was underwhelming, the food was under seasoned and lack any flavour, the vegetables were under cooked and the chicken was over cooked, and they tried to charge me $51 for 5 prawns... Not happy! The only saving grace was Connie, our server... Lovely!"

The teppanyaki table is an excellent dining experience - watching the food being cooked at the table and eyeing the chef perform with precision skills (flipping those knives and cutlery!) is entertaining. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is filled with ambiance, and the company of other diners around the table is a pleasure while small-talk abounds. When I come to Toronto, I LOVE dining at Benihana!"

The server took some of the table's orders, went off and took care of them and then 20 minutes later came back and took some of the remaining orders... the other guests actually had drinks and appetizers before we even had our dinner orders taken.. the server never actually took our drink order. The chef, while a good cook, was completely non-communicative..."

  • "We felt the people working we're rushing us to leave. The salad was berry small and was not good at all but we were not able to choose as it was the only one yet we're offering. It was well over priced for the type of food and service they provided. The way they cooked the food was cool but it only lasted 4 minutes total. We had a table of 13. All and all I will not be back and I would not recomend this restaurant to anybody who likes good service and good food."

  • "We went there for the summerlicious event. $45 prix fixe include an apetizer, a main course and dessert. We ordered some california rolls for apetizer, which were average. And we ordered Hibachi steak, and the chef put on a show for us, which was great and the beef tasted very lean and juicy. And then we had some chocolate cake for dessert, which tasted really good too. I would say that the food and the ambiance were worth the money but it would be a little bit pricy if eating at regular price."

  • "I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food - the soup was just clear broth with some dried onions, the salad had a dressing that was unpalatable. The sir-fried vega were ok- they was no real flavour. The teriyaki chicken was good ; however the two accompanying sauces were a disappointment as well- the ginger sauce /mustard sauce both had a distinct pungent flavour and in my opinion did nothing to enhance the flavour of the food. The biggest surprise of the evening were the desserts- loved the mango mousse and the chocolate cake - they were presented beautifully and I literally ate mine in one gulp- it was so good ! Our dining experience was made memorable by our dinner companions whom we met by pure chance. !"

Overall, was good but was just a little pricy for what we received. Would go more often if it was a little less expensive. Maybe understanding the menu more would help get what you want and be affordable."

  • "My husband and I went to Benihana for the first time last weekend! It was amazing. We met some amazing new friends over dinner!The food was fresh and delicious, prepared before our eyes. Our chef, not only cooked our meal, but he put on a production. The serving staff were friendly and attentive! I ordered a vegetarian meal and they ensured that my food was prepared first and that I did not receive any meat! I was so impressed! We definately will return. It was pricey, but well worth it. Our plate was full and so were we! Thanks Benihana"

  • "This is the 2nd time my 2 adult daughters & I visited Toronto and ate at Benihana - we LOVE it!! I made reservations online through OpenTable, which was easy. I took the confirmation number with me, in case we had trouble, but of course the entire process was smooth, and when I gave our name to the hostess at Benihana, she immediately crossed it off her reservation list. We love sitting at the teppanyaki table, watching the food being prepared before our eyes, and interacting with other diners at the table. The food is fabulous at Benihana's, and the atmosphere is amazing! We highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "This was my first time at Benihana in Toronto. I lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida 1984-2007 and had been to the Benihana there many many times; mostly for special occasions and when I had visitors from Europe. The Benihana is Fort Lauderdale is smaller than the one here in Toronto. The athmosphere is more intimate because of its location on the intracoastal waterway makes it accessible by boat. In all our food was very good and we had a great time. The onion vulcano was a nice touch. "

While the staff are friendly, and service was very accomodating, the food was only marginal, and the 'performance' was left us wondering why we bothered. Our chef only flipped his spatula a few times and made a lot of banging noises with the salt, pepper and sesame seed shakers. The onion volcano was a mess (as it collapsed). Also, our table was quiet so we made the best of the situation. But we will not be going back."

  • "Perfect Teppanaki Grill - Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster, Chicken, Sirloin and Filet Steak, and veggies were all cooked perfectly. The show was fun with an Onion Volcano, but what impressed us most was the perfectly cooked dinner. The only downside was the ambience as a big office group of "boys" were seated beside us 1/2 way through dinner."
