  • "Last minute idea for a fun date night for my fiance and I. Didn't realize that its more a group setting than a date night. While the staff are friendly, and service was very accomodating, the food was only marginal, and the 'performance' was left us wondering why we bothered. Our chef only flipped his spatula a few times and made a lot of banging noises with the salt, pepper and sesame seed shakers. The onion volcano was a mess (as it collapsed). Also, our table was quiet so we made the best of the situation. But we will not be going back."

  • "had an amazing time and the restaurant took note of the note i made on the reservation about my boyfriends birthday and gave him a dessert."

  • "Great food, a little overpriced, fun to watch. It was a weekday so there was a lot of people from a convention. It had been a while since I went to a Benihana. Best for groups since the tables are set up for that."

  • "I took my daughters for dinner for this experience and it was a really great evening. The Server was very pleasant and accommodating. The Chef we had was very entertaining and was good to explain all the food/process etc.. Food was very tasty and expecially the Lobster!!"

  • "Perfect Teppanaki Grill - Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster, Chicken, Sirloin and Filet Steak, and veggies were all cooked perfectly. The show was fun with an Onion Volcano, but what impressed us most was the perfectly cooked dinner. The only downside was the ambience as a big office group of "boys" were seated beside us 1/2 way through dinner."

  • "Dined with a group of 4 at the tepanaki table. The service was good, and watching the chef prepare the meal was fun (I did expect a bit more of a show than what actually happened though). The food was very good from apps to main course. Good choice for groups, but not for a romantic evening out. Was pricey, but you definitely get a lot of food for what you pay for."

  • "My 13 year old son wanted to go some place different for his birthday. We chose this restaurant. Both the food and service were very good. It is expensive but a good choice for a special occasion."

  • "When we were there, it was very nice. Food and chef was very good. One problem that was actually kind of annoying by the end of the meal: the staff kept grabbing plates and dinnerware, and glasses off of our table - long before they should. I realize they are trying to clear things up , but no one should be grabbing your plate away when you still have food in your mouth from the last bite... they were grabbing everything this way the entire meal, you could barely finished, and ended up you felt so rushed. Even the glasses, you were not even finished your beverage, even tea at the end and zoom... away it went. That was disappointing."

  • "The meal was good but it was difficult to hold a conversation with all of the noise. Additionally, the fume hood should be turned on occasionally. In one instance the smoke / steam from the grill was suffocating."

  • "Atmosphere was Great. Food excellent but the prices since last visit have gone up quite considerably."

  • "The Teppanyaki chef did not put on a show at all, even though he had good knife skills. The furnishings and decor in the restaurant are tired looking - need a face lift. On a positive note, you will not leave hungry."

  • "We decided we wanted to have a special dinner for Valentines Day. We chose Benihanas, and were not disappointed. The food was superb, the fixed price menu providing ample selection. I had the steak, which was cooked to order perfectly. Many stakehouses don't seem able to do medium rare justice. My partner had the teriyaki chicken, and she felt the sauce was maybe a little too light, but the other sauces provided made up for that. All in all, we are looking forward to our next meal here. The only downside, and I don't know how this could be fixed, is that you sit side by side with your party, so conversation is hard to accomplish."

  • "Went for dinner with my lovely girlfriend who isn't fond of vegetables or seafood but the experience of the teppanyaki cooking won her over! Delicious and inspiring. Amazing place to visit, even better if your staying at the York. Much respect for the chefs and serving staff!"

  • "I went for Winterlicious 2014 at this restaurant with my hubby. I have been for teppenyaki at Iron Chef Mississauga previously and in comparison , the latter was definitely better. We mainly came for the tricks and performance, but there was hardly any of that. The chef at benihana was pleasant , but I only saw him flip his knife once and create an onion volcano. And that was the end of it. I dont know if the special tricks and performance is reserved for regular clients only !!!! So being a winterlicious customer, my review is poor in terms of performance, average service and food. I felt rushed and felt it was not worth the $45 per head."

  • "Benihana's staff are well trained and friendly, and our chef's performance was certainly a sight to be seen! They are very accommodating for those with diet restrictions which was great to see. The sushi was superb and the meat was out of this world!"

  • "Benihana is an excellent experience. Our chef was amazing. Knowledgable and an artist with his knife. The flavours popped and you couldn't find fresher ingredients. We ordered from the Winterlicious menu but did see many temping dishes in the regular menu for a return visit. I do think it's important to note, that this is not an intimate dining experience unless seated at a private table and even then the sound of joyful exuberance from the cooking stations (depending on the number of Benihana martinis and cherry blossoms enjoyed) might be somewhat intrusive."

  • "Service was good but the food was just ok. We ordered steaks medium rare and they were way over done (well done). Not worth the $332.00 total. (3 glasses of wine included) Will not go back."

  • "I very much enjoy a dining experience but was quite disappointed with the whole experience at this restaurant and in all probability will not be going back. This was our first time to this restaurant and it would have been valuable to the experience to have the waiters, host/hostess to explain what to expect, how to order, what the menu includes, the prices etc BUT they did not. We ordered in blind faith. Was the food good yes but it was not over the top. When the bill arrived I was even more shocked in what we paid for the evening. I am not cheap but honestly I thought it was alot of money for the food that we ordered. The ambience was so, so. Found that my eyes started bothering me as I found the ventilation was not the greatest."

  • "This place is a great atmosphere and is fun for either a date or a group of friends. The service was awesome and it was more than just dining, it was an experience for sure! The food was impeccable and the portions were great! A bit pricey but worth it every once in a while :)!"

  • "The food was excellent and well done although the chef seemed to be in an extreme hurry and forgot a few things that he had to go and get twice. We were in a corner with 3 other people and it seemed a little tight. The décor could use a facelift, its very outdated. Chef did not perform/entertain much as per my previous experience. Overall it was still fun, our table mates were very nice and my daughter enjoyed it. I really only did it to introduce her to Tepenyaki as she had only ever seen it on television."

  • "At this open concept entertaining dining spot you will not be disappointed or short for words. My partner and I had am amazing time dining here, it is a wonderful and interactive experience. We were thoroughly impressed as the chefs cook right in front of you, making a twist and turn everywhere you look."

  • "I have been going to Benihana for over 30 years. Some of the same staff as when we went for our first date. Still go once a year. A fabulous meal, attentive and good service. A fun experience. Usually a good chance to meet and chat with new people."

  • "Service was slow, flat and uninspiring. At 8pm no more tuna and forgot to mention until the third person at the table gave the order for tuna combo. Except the steak all the food were over salted and over buttered. My daughter's chicken main dish was so dry and salty that she could not eat. She comments that my chicken is way better. I guess one could ordered less salt, less butter and cook gently!"

  • "We took 14 people to celebrate a child's 10th birthday and had two tables. The service to the children by Connie was amazing as she was friendly, vibrant and really catered to the children's needs and demands without missing a beat. The manager Shin was super accommodating and really made the evening much easier and pleasant for the adults! The chef Sam was great entertainment for the kids and he went out of his way to make their meal special! The chef for the adults was excellent and the food all around was amazing. To get 8 kids to eat everything on their plates is no small accomplishment. Thank you to everyone that helped and served us as the night was so good nobody wanted to leave!"
