I waited about 30 minutes for a table...after we seated, the waitress told us needed to wait another 10 more minutes for the table to be fulfill in order to take our food order. We waited another 15 minutes...when we saw the chef was another 15 minutes...the waiting time was unpleasant, but the foods was good and the price was reasonable. The service I would say it's okay."

  • "It was our friend's first time at Benihana - Japantown. We made same-day reservations and arrived an hour early only to be seated earlier! Our waitstaff were friendly and accommodating -- we had lots to drink. Our cook was as friendly as he was skilled with the blade! The food was what you'd expect from pan-fried technique. Hey, you go for the show! We all had a great time! If you have any dietary restrictions, make sure you let them know ahead of time!"

  • "I just went because my family wanted to go. Really noisy. I heard you get free dinner if it's your birthday? That explains hearing an irritating happy birthday song more than a half dozen times as we were sitting. I couldn't hear my kids comments or chat wth my husband sitting right next to me. I could, however hear the screaming child of the other family sitting at our table. So... If you like small, bland portions, served in stages where you choose to eat your portion of grilled onions now, or wait 10 minutes and eat them cold when your protein is ready, and served with the same tired jokes from the last 5 decades, then this is the place for you."

  • "I have been to Benihana a handful of times previously and sometimes the experience has been tremendous, and other times it has been sub-par. However, this past weekend I went for my birthday with a group of 7 (4 of whom had never been to Benihana before and were super excited to give it a try) and was embarrassingly disappointed. The chef was completely disengaged from the table, looked absolutely EXHAUSTED from start to finish, and hardly performed any knife skills at all, which is really the only reason people go to Benihana to begin with. All of the food was overcooked and bland which is sad because Benihana is known to make some wonderful chicken friend rice. I just really wish this place was more consistent."

I also guess I forgot that Id smell like grease afterwards so be prepared to do laundry. The drinks have zero alcohol in them. Truly. Theyre just sugar water. I went for the show which was alright, but I wont be back."

  • "We had to wait for 20 minutes before being sat, and then another hour before anyone came over to cook for us. Way too long and the waitress was inattentive until we actually were eating dinner. I thought this would be a fun experience for my family for a birthday–not expecting the food to be fantastic. But considering how long we waited, I will never go back."

  • "Extremely terrible management. Must wait 1+ hrs. with reservation. Explanation from Manager: Due to prior parties being late, parties that come on time must suffer. No apology was given nor any sympathy was shown to any of the guests that were waiting to dine. At least 2 other parties in waiting area waiting for 1+ hrs. Tried their mediocre sushi roll at the bar while waiting. Not worth it. WARNING *** DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT! *** Plenty of wonderful restaurants in the surrounding area."

  • "Benihana is known for its cooking showmanship, not the case anymore - just a bunch of hand movements with the spatula and noise from the salt and pepper shakers. The food is still good and it is great meeting people and having fun at the table. They need more ventilation in the place, my clothes reaked with the cooking smell and I had to put them in a plastic bag so they wouldn't smell up my house until I could launder them."

  • "the chicken fried rice was the best. the beef, shrimp and scallops were good and the calamari just ok, like that the food is served very hot and is accompanied with two diffrent dipping sauces. the salad dressing was abit bitter and soup was only ok japanese miso tofu soup at regular japanese restaurants is better. the ambience is energetic and you can tell people were out enjoying themselves. brought our 1 yr son and he was happy with the noise and a high chair was available. the place can get smoky and you will smell it in your clothes. price is abit on the high side for the quality of ingredients but no excessive and experience is part of the reason to go there. nice to go every once in awhile."

  • "Went for a belated Valentine's day dinner - and to take advantage of the $30 birthday gift certificate they send if you join their frequent diner club. I opted for the steak/shrimp/chicken dinner (they were buying after all) and my wife had seafood. Well of course you know it's fresh, you see it cooked in front of you! Love the garlic fried rice, the chef was really good and everyone at the table had a blast! I've probably dined her 50 times, love it every time."

  • "I brought my boyfriend here for his first ever teppanyaki experience and he loved it! I am no stranger to this type of cooking. The food was pretty good, but quite dry. Also, I was expecting the chef to be entertaining as most other restaurants with this style of preparation are. The menu is on the moderately expensive side so it is easy to run up a bill."

  • "Benihana is a good place to bring friends. It's entertaining, but don't expect exceptional food. Maybe it was just an off night, but the chef overcooked everything; the scallops, shrimps, lobster tail, and the filet. Medium rare came out well done. I suggest to order rare or keep an eye on the food and ask the chef to serve it. It's not proper etiquette, but it's better than wasting food and having the chef fire up another piece. Overall, we had a good time."
