  • "We made an reservations at 9pm for 5 people, arrived on time (857pm at the reception). We had to wait for a while before we got the service, and eventually received our appetizer around 935pm, and later the entrees. Around 1010pm, while we were still eating, the waitress indicated that we need to wrap up and leave. Even though, I still gave her a reasonable tip which was more than 15%, suggested at the bottom of the bill. After we paid and received the validated parking ticket, we left the restaurant around 1025pm. When we drove the car out of the parking lot at 1037, we were told the restaurant only validated us for 1.5 hour. Then we had to pay another $2 before we can leave."

  • "I expected to absolutely love the food for how expensive it was. The filet (which is a very tender cut of beef) was almost tough. Overall our party of twelve said their were two good things - the shrimp & the service. My daughter had just graduated & was in a white dress & the waiter spilled red fruit punch on her dress! It did come out in the wash luckily but that kind of summed up the experience. We were disappointed with the quality of food!"

  • "We had a great time. The table sat 8 and we had 8 dinning. The atmosphere was great since we were their for my daughters graduation ceremony. The price was around 25 dollars per person, which for the food, atmosphere, and fun was unbeatable. Will do this again, My teenage son has ohhhh and ahhhh all evening at what the chef was doing at the table. It was awesome!! "

  • "It had been a long time since we dined at Benihana (in LA), so we thought it would be fun to give it a shot. The menu was complete, with lots of seafood, beef, seafood, and combination entrees. I had the Hibachi steak and chicken, which was very good. My wife had the Teriyaki chicken and jumbo shrimp -- also excellent. The tangy dressing on the accompanying salad was really good! We really enjoyed ourselves."

  • "I've been to benihana's before and it was awesome... this time, it was not so much. the food was good. the service was good. The cooking show wasn't as good as last time. In fact, it seemed like the chef didn't even try to put on a show this time. Which disappointed me. "

  • "My husband and I went to Benihana for my birthday dinner, and we also brought our 8 month old. They were very accommodating for our daughter, which was a definite plus. The food was great, and the chef was entertaining.They brought me ice cream with a candle in it and sang me Happy Birthday. We had a great experience, and can't wait to go back."

  • "After navigating a construction site to reach the building. Normally be a problem, but the poorly constructed ramp, with duct tape rails gave me a splinter. After introducing ourselves and notifying the hostess of our reservation, you acted disinterested and just pointed to some stairs and said "they're ready for you up there." we navigated the steep stairs to be seated. Our server was polite but didn't seem familiar with the menu when we asked questions. Our chef continued the mediocre experience. He looked like a drummer for a garage band and acted like he wished he was somewhere else. No flair, no performance, just boring narrative. The food was okay, but not great enough to make up for rest. Tepanyaki is better for less. "

  • "I recently dined at Benihana in SLC with coworkers. Once we were inside the building, the experience was fantastic, but there was construction which diverted foot traffic down an alley, then up a makeshift ramp. I was very glad not to be alone, it was unsettling. The food and service were enjoyable, however ending the evening down the alley after dark was not. I'll definitely wait to return until the proper sidewalk is reopened."

  • "The room was very cold. I wish I had worn a sweater or jacket because it was so cold, and that made it difficult to enjoy the meal to the fullest. But, the food was very good, and my dining companion (who had never eaten there before) loved the show and food. The only other thing I didn't really like was that our chef made the shrimp first (we had a duet lunch) and by the time the steak and scallops were done, the shrimp was cold and rubbery. I would like to have had it served at the same time as the vegetables. Have eaten here many times and really enjoy it!"

  • "Benihana is always been a family favorite our ours. We have always made it a place our family goes on special occasions. We love the food and the fun atmosphere. The chefs are always very entertaining and the quality of food is superb. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. You can even have a nice romantic dinner for 2. My husband and I have come on anniversary dates also and it has been a great place to celebrate. I highly recommend Benihana for the food, atmosphere and fun."

  • "One of my granddaughters' fathers had told her about this special restaurant he'd gone to with his parents (me & his dad)when he was young. It just so happened I booked it for this special weekend unbeknownst to me about his comment. It was all that I expected and more. The chef was talented, fun, and personable. The food was outstanding. The special birthday song for one of my girls was just plain fun. What a night they'll always remember."

  • "We dined on a Friday evening and the food was tasty and the servers/cooks were all very friendly. The downside, which was a big downside for an enjoyable evening, was that we ordered two sushi rolls for appetizers, and they didn't deliver them until after the cook brought out all the ingredients to cook our meals, even though I had specifically asked them to give us some time before cooking the dinner, they must have forgotten and hurriedly brought out the rolls and started cooking dinner about the same time. Consequently there was just too much food on the table at the same time and no elbow room at all. As an apology, we received free ice cream for dessert, but what we really wanted was time to enjoy our meal."

Maybe it is because I haven't been to a Benihanas in awhile or it was just this particular location, but there use to be a lot more showmanship done but the chef and it seemed lacking. Food was superb, took some friends for the first time and three days later they are still talking about the steak they order."

  • "My son starts talking about his "birthday dinner" at Benihana 2 months early! The Chef's Table birthday certificate is the best marketing tool ever! It brings me back time after time Mon-Thu, in addition to my weekend visits without the kids! I can get good food anywhere...but the show put on by the chef as he prepares our meal makes it an experience!"

  • "My boyfriend took me to Benihana for date night and the chef was superb at cooking/seasoning our food to perfection. The atmosphere was lively and energetic. Our waitress was very attentive and the appetizers (soup/salad) appeared and were removed in a timely manner. Overall, an excellent experience but definitely on the more expensive side of things - great for special occasions."

I dine here fairly often, visiting 6 or more times a year, usually for special occasions, or when attending the Capitol Theater next door. As long as their quality remains high and their prices in line, I plan on being a "regular" here for years to come!"

  • "We weren't disapointed but we weren't "wowed" either. I couldn't tell of the server was new, unsure of herself, quirky...I can't quite put my finger on it but I felt as though I needed to lead the conversation with her regarding ordering etc. The chef was excellent and entertaining. She did a great job. There are actually other teppanyaki restaurants that I prefer more than Benihana (my chicken always seems to be on the dry side at Benihana), but overall we had a very enjoyable evening."

  • "The food at Benihana was amazing, but I was very confused at the end of the dinner when I told the server I was part of the Chef's Table and would have a $30 coupon for being a member, but did not receive an email with some kind of code/number and was a bit disappointed from that. It's not the server's fault, but I wish there was something they could do and also if there was more clarity/promptness on getting a resend on Benihana $30 coupon codes via email."

  • "I've always loved Benihana's, love the food prep right at your table and the chef performance is always fun. We went to the Benihana's downtown. We were seated upstairs and it was really hot with all the hot griddles going, so they need better air conditioning upstairs. If I go again I'll request downstairs. The seating was cramped, the 'show' was minimal and boring and the food was bland and the quality not what I expected paying $40 a plate. The fried rice was the best part of the experience, it was delicious."

  • "I hadn't been to Benihana for about a decade before this trip. Everything was pretty much how I remembered it. The waitress, Khando, was amazingly attentive and quite good at her job. Our chef, whose name alludes me now, seemed pretty bored or tired, but was still good at the show/cooking. Once my girlfriend and I started talking with him, he opened up and seemed a bit more sociable. The food could have had a little better seasoning (I had the steak and lobster "delux" dish while my girlfriend had filet mignon and scallops. She was pleased with her dish, as was I, just wished it was cooked in a sauce or something.) The food was quality, and the show was fun."

  • "My husband & I are frequent customers, at least 4 times a month & all special occasions! Usually, we are always impressed & love everything about our experience. This time , our waitress was horrible, way too pushy trying to make us purchase meals we didn't want & came back to try to change our minds 3 times. We kept saying no. Throughout our meal she wasn't around at all. Then when it came time for the bill she kept repeating our price of the bill out loud & counting the cash we put down & what change she would need to bring us. She brought back 11 something in change but kept pointing at the bill where she a circled the suggested tip so many times that it even ripped the paper and had to nerve to say "more then the change I brought""

  • "I've been coming to this Benihana location occasionally for over 10 years, and each time the star has a little less luster. There seems to be more indifference to guests at the door, and less enthusiasm upstairs on the the cooking floor. The Nigiri and Sashimi are uniformly acceptable; not bad, not great, but still good. The hibachi grill experience is still the same: lots of banging and clanging, with delicious cooked morsels and a friendly chef. This time, I noticed the red PVC tape on the salt and pepper shakers being pounded on the grill; that was a turn-off, thinking of little bits of PVC tape possibly staying behind on the hot surface."
