A word from Benihana - Salt Lake City
Welcome to Benihana and a dining experience unlike any other! If you’ve never been to Benihana before, let us tell you what you can expect: Our guests are seated at communal tables in groups of eight to ten, where your personal chef will perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Watch as we slice and dice, preparing a meal that will dazzle your eyes as well taste buds, whether you choose mouth-watering steak, tender chicken or succulent seafood.

Or you can visit our sushi lounge where a talented sushi chef will prepare the freshest sashimi, maki and signature sushi rolls with the same flair that made Benihana a legend in Japanese cuisine. Smaller tables and more intimate seating is available in the lounge or bar on a first-come, first-served basis, whether you’re looking to enjoy one of our delicious Benihana Teppanyaki entrées or our amazing selection of sushi!

The restaurant could use better ventilation, smoke from cooking cause eyes irritation and make clothing very smelly after dining. The food and service were great and very friendly, thanks

About 70% of the evening is the show that the chef provides at the grill. I hadn't been to a Benihana in about 25 years, but the show is still great.

So everything seemed pretty good for me. Wanted more sauce on my meats. It was my wife's birthday and somehow she received no food until we had to ask an employee if her meal would be cooked with everyone else's or if it was prepared in the kitchen. I felt bad and a little embarrassed being that I took out my wife for a perfect bday dinner, instead I ate a cold plate of food after I waited for her to receive hers.

I made the reservation and we still had to wait about 15 mins to get our table, but once we got our table it almost as if we were getting rushed. I didn't even get my salad untill the rice was cooking.. then of course I just wanted to watch the chef so I didn't get to eat much. It was also REALLY loud and REALLY HOT in there. They should really turn the AC up if their going to have fire everywhere in such a small area.

I booked this restaurant because I had been to one before in another state and I had a great experience. I probably will never go back to this one again or recommend it. I honestly was embarrassed that I chose this to host my friends birthday/work party because the service was awful. Everyone was rude and it was close to closing so they were rushing to get is out which I understand. Everyone's experience should be memorable in a positive way not negative.

Benihana's is our go-to place for special occasions (birthdays, anniversary, etc.) so we have experienced a wide variety of chefs and food standards. While our food was good, the lobster was overcooked and a few pieces of my wife's filet mignon were very rare, instead of the requested medium. Our chef seemed to have difficulty keeping the orders straight and got flustered, at times. He was, however, very observant and refilled my wife's ginger sauce well before the end of the meal, when I usually have to request more sauce.

Food was excellent. the chef was a lot of fun. We had a group of seven and were celebrating a birthday. we ordered Vegetable Tempura and it was crisp and hot. tasted wonderful. The special chicken fried rice was also very good. everyone remarked on how tender the steaks were and the shrimp were wonderful. We had a great time and will definitely return

Benihana is a fun restaurant with great food. The service is outstanding. My girlfriend noted on the way home that just as she thought that she wanted some water a waiter was already in the process of giving her a glass. The waiters seem to appear out of nowhere with anything you could want. The beverage choice is outstanding, with the cheaper options having free refills. The chefs are very accommodating with your orders. I heavily recommend getting the chicken fried rice.

The downtown Benihanas was a great choice for our pre-concert gatnering of eight people for drinks and dinner. Our waitress, Maria was exceptional at taking care of all our needs (including seperate checks) with brilliant efficiency and a terrific personality. Mario, our chef, was entertaining and a culinary artist. The food, every morsel, was delicious: freshly cooked, perfectly seasoned and ample. The ambience was clean, architecturally pleasing and welcoming. It's been a while since I visited a Benihana, but they haven't lost their touch. If anything, they've gotten even better.

I've been going to SL Benihana over the last 20 years and it has always been fantastic. It's much better than the other tepanyaki table-cooking style restaurants in Utah. Their sauces and salad dressings are amazing, sushi and spring rolls are delicious. My absolute favorite is the hibachi fried rice. Benihana is fun for lunch and you can save a little on the lunch specials. For dinner they offer reservations which is rare these days and definitely nice on a Friday or Saturday night. The big tables are nice when you have a large party. I've always had great service and if it's your birthday they sing to you, bring ice cream, and take a picture that you get to take with you. I live 80 miles away and gladly make the drive to Benihana!

We made an reservations at 9pm for 5 people, arrived on time (857pm at the reception). We had to wait for a while before we got the service, and eventually received our appetizer around 935pm, and later the entrees. Around 1010pm, while we were still eating, the waitress indicated that we need to wrap up and leave. Even though, I still gave her a reasonable tip which was more than 15%, suggested at the bottom of the bill. After we paid and received the validated parking ticket, we left the restaurant around 1025pm. When we drove the car out of the parking lot at 1037, we were told the restaurant only validated us for 1.5 hour. Then we had to pay another $2 before we can leave.

I expected to absolutely love the food for how expensive it was. The filet (which is a very tender cut of beef) was almost tough. Overall our party of twelve said their were two good things - the shrimp & the service. My daughter had just graduated & was in a white dress & the waiter spilled red fruit punch on her dress! It did come out in the wash luckily but that kind of summed up the experience. We were disappointed with the quality of food!

We had a great time. The table sat 8 and we had 8 dinning. The atmosphere was great since we were their for my daughters graduation ceremony. The price was around 25 dollars per person, which for the food, atmosphere, and fun was unbeatable. Will do this again, My teenage son has ohhhh and ahhhh all evening at what the chef was doing at the table. It was awesome!!

It had been a long time since we dined at Benihana (in LA), so we thought it would be fun to give it a shot. The menu was complete, with lots of seafood, beef, seafood, and combination entrees. I had the Hibachi steak and chicken, which was very good. My wife had the Teriyaki chicken and jumbo shrimp -- also excellent. The tangy dressing on the accompanying salad was really good! We really enjoyed ourselves.

After navigating a construction site to reach the building. Normally be a problem, but the poorly constructed ramp, with duct tape rails gave me a splinter. After introducing ourselves and notifying the hostess of our reservation, you acted disinterested and just pointed to some stairs and said "they're ready for you up there." we navigated the steep stairs to be seated. Our server was polite but didn't seem familiar with the menu when we asked questions. Our chef continued the mediocre experience. He looked like a drummer for a garage band and acted like he wished he was somewhere else. No flair, no performance, just boring narrative. The food was okay, but not great enough to make up for rest. Tepanyaki is better for less.

I recently dined at Benihana in SLC with coworkers. Once we were inside the building, the experience was fantastic, but there was construction which diverted foot traffic down an alley, then up a makeshift ramp. I was very glad not to be alone, it was unsettling. The food and service were enjoyable, however ending the evening down the alley after dark was not. I'll definitely wait to return until the proper sidewalk is reopened.
