We were a party of 5 with kids ages 17, 14, and 9. We all LOVED it. My son even commented that he ate mushrooms and onions and normally he wouldn't do that. Our chef was funny and entertaining and our server was very prompt. We spent more money than we normally would on dinner but we left absolutely stuffed and had leftovers to bring home, too. I had not been since I was a little kid in kindergarten but we went to celebrate my college graduation. We visited during lunch and ordered off the lunch menu. While the portions were not as large as I would have liked the taste was fantastic and the show entertaining which compensated for the price. Even though we made reservations they don't seat you until your whole party is present which was a little disappointing since one of us was about 10 minutes late and we ended up having to wait another half an hour to be seated. Our sever was marginal and we were unfortunate to sit next to a very loud table with inappropriate language and we had children at our table. Not the restaurants fault at all but that is something to remember about the atmosphere there. My last memory of Benihana in Golden Valley was a dark, tired restaurant that had seen better days. We wanted to take our Finnish exchange student to a Japanese steakhouse for his 18th birthday and was about to choose another location when a friend said that Benihana GV had been recently remodeled. I was very pleasantly surprised...bright and new the restaurant exceeded my expectations. My family had a great time and my exchange student really enjoyed the experience. We had two children with our party who were mesmerized by the chef's skill in preparing the meal. Be aware that this is not a fast dining experience. We had a group of 8 adults, so we just fit at a hibachi table. While it was quite noisy, so you could only talk to people on your end of the table, we had a great time. The chef was very entertaining and the food was plentiful and delicious. It is pricey, but I didn't mind because I left quite full with leftovers for the next day. Our meals were delicious, the servings generous, the courses kept coming and the ambaince was perfect.
