A word from Benihana - Manhasset
Welcome to Benihana and a dining experience unlike any other! If you’ve never been to Benihana before, let us tell you what you can expect: Our guests are seated at communal tables in groups of eight to ten, where your personal chef will perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Watch as we slice and dice, preparing a meal that will dazzle your eyes as well taste buds, whether you choose mouth-watering steak, tender chicken or succulent seafood.

Or you can visit our sushi lounge where a talented sushi chef will prepare the freshest sashimi, maki and signature sushi rolls with the same flair that made Benihana a legend in Japanese cuisine. Smaller tables and more intimate seating is available in the lounge or bar on a first-come, first serve basis, whether you’re looking to enjoy one of our delicious Benihana Teppanyaki entrées or our amazing selection of sushi!

  • "Great experience overall. Staff was great and very attentive. Loved the interaction between the chef and the consumers at the table. Will definitely go there again"

  • "We have visited Benihanas for years. This was the first time, we did not enjoyed our food as much as we have in the past. I hate to say it, but the food was very blend and just the Benihana flavor was not there at all."

  • "We go to Benihana Manhasset at least twice a month. Food and Service is pretty consistent. Yvone is the best waitress and the best Chefs are Chow, Rodulfo, and Michael."

  • "Best of the standard hibachi restaurants. We didn't have any young kids at our table and the chef was less than energetic but the food was well prepared. They meow serve 12 at a table which takes lots of time to cook all the different items."
    Dined on 8/9/2014
  • "Food was as expected. You go there for the entertainment, not the food. It was more expensive than I was expecting and my kids hardly ate anything so we won' t be going back soon."

  • "never gets old, food is fresh- high sodium- but work out the next day- that's all. a Gem."

  • "We come here a lot because my son likes it. This time it was his birthday. First our drink orders were wrong and the server told us he had to get managers approval to give me another drink when HE made the mistake. It took 40 min to get my new drink, the food was almost done cooking. Asked 4 servers for a napkin and chop sticks for my son. One stopped looked at us then rolled her eyes and walked away. Then our sushi order was wrong, took another 15 minutes for my son to get his roll. Then they gave us the check without even letting us order dessert for my son, he told the server he wanted ice cream, it came out half melted. No water refills all night and the food which is usually very consistent was bland and terrible."

  • "Our meals were just ok. When they put 11 adults at one table we were squeezed so close together it was unpleasant. Part of our party were seated at the end and our plates weren't even in front of us. Unless there are children at a table they shouldn't seat more than 8 people. Our chef was very good but the food could have used a little more seasoning."

  • "It was fun and great for kids. Show is the same for as long I can remember. Food ok but a bit bland. No desert except a scope of ice cream. Entertaining chefs, good staff and fun."

  • "This was our 2 1/2 year old sons first time at hibachi. He loved having the chef right up close. He talked about it for days afterwards. Very kid/family friendly."

  • "I'd never spend money to eat here without the kids. They love it - all the mugging and knifeplay. The food is really sub-par and the price is high (for what you get). It's the Chuck-E-Cheese of "Asian" restaurants."

  • "We took our five year old grandson there for dinner. He had a great time! Our chef was very entertaining! The food was average and at times the service was not attentive. There was a children's menu which doubled as a Benihana chef's hat which he loved. The noise level was very loud. Our only real complaint was the cost. Benihana is not an inexpensive "family" restaurant. Many items had an additional charge including the fried rice. We had fun mainly because our grandson did! We would not recommend Benihana as a place to go unless you go with kids or a large group of friends (10) where you would fill up the entire table. It would be fun then!"

  • "The food was great the chef seemed liked he hated his job."

  • "Our chef was excellent and the food was delicious. However, it took them too long to take our order and then the chef did not have the correct food when he did come out. They lacked enough staff to deal with the crowd and we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for our dessert after it was ordered. Lunch normally should take a bit over an hour there - this time it was close to 2.5 hours. We would not have gone there since our young children were not able to sit through a meal this long...."

  • "We frequent many hibachi steakhouses, but this was our first time at Benihana's. We were celebrating my son's 20th birthday. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation. Great for large groups or to join other groups."

  • "We came here to celebrate my daughter's 7th birthday. We were a party of 10 and made a reservation in advance. We were promptly seated about 2-3 minutes after arriving. We had one person take our drink orders then another person who took our food order. The issue was the chef. His name was Herris. He was very nice but he seemed distracted and it appeared that it was his first day. When we attempted to make a joke of it he said that he had been at work from 11am and he was tired. While cooking we found that numerous things weren't in the correct quantity. He was short on the zucchini and the shrimp, so he had to keep asking people to bring things out. Also he basically watched the front door the entire session."

  • "The cook was amazing and very friendly in continually entertaining the table. The waitress as swift with any request or additions made to orders. The food and drinks were outstanding. Overall, it was a good experience"

  • "Benihana's was a great experience for my family. The food was delicious and fresh, especially the shrimp appetizer. My 8 year old twins surprisingly loved the onion soup! At first glance, I thought the prices were a bit outrageous but for the amount and quality of food received, it was well worth it...even the ice cream and we are not really ice cream people."

  • "Benihana's is not a quiet romantic place to eat. The food is good, but be prepared to wait. You will be sitting with other people--at least 12 to a table. It is very loud and hard to hear your neighbor or the waiter/waitress. Allow at least 2 hours for the whole experience. Even if you arrive early and there is no one waiting, you wait for a table--so be prepared. The chefs are entertaining and the food is cooked right at the table."

  • "I definitely recommend this location also I went to NYC location and it's very noise and small space between chairs and tables. Manhassset location is great but I think that some chefs hasn't the same experience to cook because the Manhasset chef that attended my family hasn't the same dinamic way to cook that the chefs at NYC location. They made many funny things preparing the food.."

  • "Very relaxing place to dine after a stressful day at work"

  • " Dined there to celebrate Father's day and as expected it was packed. Noise level was louder than usual, I could not understand nor hear the waitress. The cook/performer was average, same routine. Food was very good but expensive for the portions you get. Then the bill suggests an 18% TIP, for what? This space is not enough for me to make comments on why it should be voluntary. T=To I=Insure P=Promptness."

  • "The food was great and the service was perfect. The only thing that was a bit annoying was that there was a party of 24 high school teenagers. Those teens were so loud. But once they left the restaurant was perfect."

  • "I've been going to this Benihana for at least 30 years, since I was a young child. Although small changes/improvements have been made here and there, and the menu is much more extensive now, the basic formula hasn't changed--and that's a good thing. You can always count on an entertaining meal prepared tableside, delicious steak (I recommend the filet mignon), chicken and shrimp, and a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. In addition to the chef's performance, paper chef hats and chopsticks tied together with rubber bands keep things fun for the little ones. Just as it was 30 years ago, it remains a fun and festive place to celebrate a birthday or other occasion."

  • "Great food and experience. Chefs did a great performance. The only bad thing is that it took the chef too long to come out and cook."

  • "From reservation to checking out, THIS PLACE WAS WONDERFUL! I was thoroughly satisfied. The menu prices were a tad bit higher than other locations which came as a shocker but I loved my Benhiana Trio so I didnt care about the price anymore. "

  • "The food is always great at Benihana. I usually go to Westbury but decided to try the Manhassat location. The staff are friendly but the hostess and the cook kept forgetting orders and we had to wait to longer to get our food. Other tha that the food was good. "

  • "If you're looking for an adult experience, this is not the place. It was stuffed with kids. Also they ask families with kids if they're celebrating something but not the adults-only groups. So, there I was on my birthday with them doing something special for two other people at the table and not me. Additionally, I've never had such a dry meal at a Benihana. I needed to dip everything in the sauce, seemed like our "chef" was rushing with cooking everything and not letting it really get moist or properly saucing it. Literally my husband had raw zucchini on his plate. On the flip side, fish was over-cooked and dry. He was focused on making other patrons items and must have forgotten about my fish. Definitely don't think I'd go back to this 1."

  • "We were group of seven including two kids. Waitress could hardly speak English and barely explained how things worked there as far as ordering was concerned. Very rude attitude. Our entire order was messed up by the waitress. Soup was very high in salt and when other guests at our table complained about it like us, she just said sorry and left. All of soup bowls very full and left there on the table. She served salad by literally throwing the salad bowls in front of every body in a manner that said here, eat it. We noticed when other guests at our table did not order deserts, she started to mumble in Chinese . We felt she was cursing them in Chinese. Not going back there. There are plenty of great sushi/hibachi places in town to choose from"

  • "This is our fourth year going for hibachi to celebrate my daughters birthday. Each time we have gone to different restaurants, no longer. This is without a doubt the best Benihana we have ever been to! Our hostess, waitress, busboy all were attentive and our chef, David, was incredible. We enjoy hibachi and will be making Manhasset our go to place from now on"

  • "Enjoyable place for a special night out. Just wished the chef would do a more culinary show, especially since there were quite a few kids at the table. "

  • "Food tasted good - but it was not great. I ordered filet and lobster tail, but the chef forgot my lobster tail. I asked him about it and he thought I was joking. But I wasn't. I told the order taker and she apologized. Manager came over and took the price of the lobster off the bill which was nice. It all depends on the chef - other tables had a lot more energy than ours"

  • "Food was good. Service was good from our waitress. The chef, however, was terrible. He mixed up orders. He didn't fill one of our bowls with the fried rice we paid for, yet gave the extra that was left to someone in another party. He also gave some of our chateaubriand to someone in the other party."
