The staff is exceptionally nice and attentive. Leo, our chef, played to the 2 children at our table and it was great to watch them enjoy the cooking. The food was, as usual, very good. The waiter automatically did the birthday celebration for the 3 at our table without us having to request...great attention to detail. My son thoroughly enjoyed his 21st birthday dinner. I had been given gift cards to pay for the dinner and the staff split payment with no problem. It was low lit in the dining room and could be suitable for a romantic dinner. The tepanyaki area was energetic. It was the first time my 12 year old had been to a Benihanas and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The kids menu allowed her to enjoy what she was familiar with at a reasonable price. They do a fine job of putting different groups of diners together and then making them feel at home. The cooks are very inviting and seem to enjoy the experience as much as the diners do! The food is average, but the ambiance is Disney-ish over the top (you enter into a Japanese village, complete with theatrical lighting) and the performance is silly and entertaining. It's a great time with friends, even if a bit low-brow.
Parties of 8 are seated around a grill, and the chef prepares your order in front of you...well, make that "performs your order". Jokes, innuendo and twirling knives create an entertaining food experience unlike any other. Another couple at our table was also celebrating their 3rd anniversary and another lady was celebrating a birthday. We were photographed at the entrance and given the pictures to keep. Our server, Holly, was very attentive and our chef, Leo, kept us entertained. Everyone was very nice and gave us top-notch service. Hibachi tables are always fun with a group and it is nice to converse with other couples at the table. Our chef was pretty good, and the food was better that I've had elsewhere. My only disappointment was a discount we had on the back of our tickets for Benihana. We could have saved $60 for our group and it is well known that teppanyaki is not an inexpensive meal. The authentic costumes are delightfully uplifting as you follow the hostess to the grill/table. It is nice to able to somewhat face the other guests at your table, it makes for easy interaction with them.
When the chef starts his wonderful display of talents and aah's the guests at every flip and turn it makes for an exciting dining experience in which everyone feels part of.
