Benihana - DearbornExcellent!I took my family to Benihana for Mother's Day dinner and we all had a wonderful time! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and Chef Robert was excellent and had a great personality. I will definitely dine there again! I have never been disappointed with the service or the food. We had Kyle as our server for the evening. He was great! The awesome wait staff appeared understaffed and overworked, all very pleasant but it was readily apparent they were in a rush. Atmosphere seems unorganized and chaotic at times. This restaurant combines parties to fill a table of eight seats so you will be sitting with strangers. Not a whole lot of room, felt boxed. Beware if you're party is less than eight and are bringing the kids with you! The chef flicked hot shrimp on a customer, not professional! It was utterly fascinating to watch the chef perform skillful cooking maneuvers and eye-catching tricks. Watching the hibachi rice being prepared only enhanced the flavor for me. It's something relaxing and different than your average run of the mill restaurant. We had a wonderful chef who cut up and joked around just like we like. My son loves it when they do the volcano out of the onion and of course our chef did that for him. Food was cooked just the way we all requested. Steaks were so tender they were able to be cut with a fork if needed. It was pretty quiet, especially considering the huge number of patrons! Some people in our group ate their dinner with their coats on, including me, because there was a cold breeze blowing across our backs, so of the 9 in our group, 4 kept their coats on. From the service coming thru the door to the ( fun, food preparation) to the energy in the room. We had to wait to get silverware in the middle of our meal. Other than that the experience was great. Great inviting atmosphere with great food and drinks. I Love coming there and I'm glad I followed the open table with my first visit.
