  • "If you want to be sure that the food, service and ambience will be just right (especially for a special occasion), Benihana is your destination spot. "

  • "I've found that hibachi joints are often better in your mind and when you get there, the hooplah doesn't live up to the idea. Not so at this particular Benihana location. I took my son this time. He's been to japanese hibachi steakhouses before, but the chef at Benihana put on a terrific show and had as much fun as we did. My son looked at me and said it was his new favorite restaurant. The food - fantastic. I got the scallops. They were incredible. Especially with a little yum-yum sauce. :) My only complaint is that we sat with another family, but there was this weird bench instead of individual chairs. It's odd to share a bench with strangers."

  • "Went to Benihana at Polaris on a Saturday afternoon (reservation 1:30p) with my wife for lunch. We were seated right away with another group of 5 with a couple of children. Ordered a half California roll to start and the hibachi scallops. Service was quick and frequent but pretty much abandoned right when food was ready and when we needed refills on hot tea. Scallops and my wife's chicken/steak combo were pretty standard Japanese fare. Chef put on a good show for the kids and made everyone feel welcome. Lunch price was great for what we received (seafood and steak)!"

  • "The veggies were very good, the service was friendly, the salad dressing should be creamy and have ginger flavor, soup was good, the spicy chicken too hot (have had better salad dressing and chicken at Fujiyama). The atmosphere was wonderful.!!!"

  • "Great birthday dinner. Noise level high enough that we didn't feel worried that our kids were being too loud. Server and chef were both good."

  • "At the table for 8, there were 8 adults and 2 children. I was pushed way past the edge of the table. It would have been OK to squeeze in one child, but two made it much too crowded."

  • "We frequently go to House of Japan or Genji and we have found those to be better than Benihanna. I think this restaurant benefits from a good reputation, but I would rather go to one of the others I mentioned above. The food was good but out chef was not very entertaining, which is part of the reason you go to a place like this."

  • "Love Benihana! Happy Hour in the bar was a new treat for us. Worth showing up early for your reservation to sit in the bar and indulge on discounted drinks and appetizers. The Ocean Treasure is my favorite. If you are a seafood lover, this is the meal for you...lobster, shrimp and scallops. Yum. Our chef, Paul, was so fun. He wasn't the typical hibachi chef. He did unique new things while cooking and chatting with us. Made the experience really memorable."

  • "Food was great as usual. But service was a little lax by the chef. He kind of phoned in at the hibachi grill tonight. We have had that one before and he has been my favorite. Our server was new (but super sweet) and messed up or order and the chef was less than thrilled to fix it. Still going back. Still hope we get him cause his food really is the best. Just hope he is in a better mood."

  • "Made a reservation via OpenTable and had someone go in to the restaurant to wait for a table. He could clearly see that tables were available, however he was told there were not enough chefs on staff to cook. So we had to wait. Don't allow a reservation to be made, if you can't seat and serve your customers. After waiting 40 minutes, since I was outside waiting with 5 kids to keep them from going crazy inside, I call and the hostess tells me that they've been waiting for us to arrive. They couldn't seat us since the whole party wasn't there. This was unacceptable, if true. We clearly told her we were all there. This has now delayed our dinner outing by over an hour making dinner no longer enjoyable, with everyone exhausted by the end of it."

  • "I came in at 9:00 which was a half hour earlier than my 9:30 dinner reservation. We did get seated on time, however, our chef did not come out until 10:30 p.m. I spoke to the hosts and waitstaff and all they could say was that they were short-staffed and that there were others who'd been waiting as long, if not longer to be served. Most disappointing was that when the chef finally came, he couldn't cook at our teppan table because it wasn't turned on by the waitstaff so we had to be moved to another table."

  • "This the first time my husband and I have dined at Benihana. The restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. The food was good and the server & chef were very energetic. I was really impressed with the online reservation option. This was very convenient and less time consuming. I wish other restaurants would adopt this reservation option. Although the food was good, I noticed that most of the people at my table had already eaten most of their vegetables and rice because of the extended time it took to cook the entrees. I realize that certain entrees may take longer than others, it just took longer than expected. Overall we enjoyed our first dining experience at Benihana and we look forward to dining in the near future."

  • "Not a good experience.we were rushed to order by the waitress and the cook kept saying come back tomorrow.I had to call the waitress just to get a refill on my drink.I thought the cook would do something exciting while preparing our food but he didn't.I mentioned it was my husbands birthday and no one even acknowledged it while we were there. Finally we start eating and some guy came out and started cleaning and poured a bucket of water next to our table. If my year old would have fallen I would of been upset. I was not impressed with this place we paid 90.00 and couldn't even eat it while it was hot because we're being rushed."

  • "We started our date night at the Ohio Theatre and ended at Benihana's for supper. The food was wonderful. Our chef was pleasant and entertaining. Drinks seem a little pricey but were good. We like Benihana's for special occasions and can always count on good food and company."

  • "We went to Benihana to celebrate my daughter and my husband's birthday. We couldn't have been more disappointed. We made a reservation, yet had to wait for a table. After we were seated, we waited 45 minutes for anyone to even talk to us. My husband complained, after another 15 minutes he complained again because we still had not had service. We have been to this location several times before and have always had good service. Maybe it was an off night, but we will think long and hard before visiting this restaurant again."

  • "Great place to celebrate a birthday. I'm vegan and they cooked all my food separately, which I appreciate! Better than the average Hibachi. Everyone else in our party had steak, shrimp & lobster, they loved it!"

  • "I booked my reservation to start at 7pm. You have to wait for your whole party to arrive to be considered for seating. The waiting area was packed and my group(5 people) completely arrive at 705. We were not seated until almost 8pm because of how busy they were. Also eventhough I made a reservation it did not seem to matter because other people who just showed up were being seated before us. The food was delicious and I absolutly love going to places like this. I will go again but I will most likely not go on a saturday night any time in the near future."

  • "After making a reservation five days in advance we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table....then when our party of six was seated we were seated with another couple at our table....not my idea of an enjoyable dinner....to top that off all six of our plates were greasy and the wine glasses were greasy as well...we had to ask for new ones...on a good note the chef at our table was a great chef...we enjoyed him....our food was pretty good as well....not sure I would go back for the price verses ambience...."

  • "Although I had a reservation my group had to wait an additional hour to be seated. The location is poorly organized I have been there more than once and had the same outcome, I will not be attending this location again. However the food was great, just the service at that location is consistently poor."

  • "I drive all the way from Cleveland to Columbus which is 2 hours away. This is the best Hibachi restaurant around. The service and food is always great. You won't be disappointed. One of my favorite restaurants."

  • "I really enjoyed my last visit to Benihana's. This was my families first visit to this particular location and we loved it. I took my children to dinner right at the start of dinner in order to avoid the dinner rush. Our chef was truly amazing and he catered to our tables style. He did things that intrigued the children as well as the adults. I would recommend Benihana's to my friends and suggest you ask for Paul."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate the New Year's and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and our chef. He did a great job adapting to the different ages in the group. He was funny, energetic, and he kept the mood very light. The food was amazing, but what food isn't good smothered in butter and soy sauce. I ordered the Benihana Delight and it was amazing! I love shrimp and chicken and the fried rice was delicious. The fried rice had small cut pieces of chicken throughout it and the vegetables were fresh and grilled to perfection."

  • "This was an excellent choice for our NYE dinner. The food was delicious and the chef was entertaining. We had some slight issues with our service, slow on some drink orders, and the waitress forgot to put in our sushi order. But, the restaurant was very busy because of the occasion, and the hibachi meal provides plenty of food already, so our missing sushi did not ruin the experience."

  • "Had a friend in town for New Years so we went here. Had a reservation and check in went smoothly. Dinner and chefs show were great. It was a smaller menu because of New Years, but still plenty of options. All in all a good time."

  • "Restaurant was crowded. Had to ask for our drinks, napkins, and silverware. Took an hour for the chef to get to the table and another hour for them to cook. Service was terrible. We had to ask for refills, ask for dessert, ask for to go box. Very lacking for the high cost of the dinner and it was a Monday"

  • "I remember the Chicago Benihana in the 60's. Food still amazing. Bar scene at "happy hour" is a bit overwhelming... but it leads to a lot of fun. Wait staff a bit overwhelmed but they keep up with everything. Had the Sushi & sushi-mi and Rocky's special steak & chicken. All done to perfection, even with the crowd. All diners were patient and enjoyed the moment. Would recommend to a friend, even if you don't like Sushi type dishes. There is so much more!!"

  • "I took my family there from out of town and we had a wonderful waitress (I'm truly sorry I don't remember her name) and our chef was Paul. Great sense of humor and was very easy for our 4 year old who was a little overwhelmed with the whole place. The food was amazing, delicious and cooked perfectly. A great new tradition for us for Christmas Eve dinner. Thank you so much."

  • "I was excited to try this place, and there were some elements that were great and some that really weren't. First, the strawberry sangria was pretty good and I did like my husband's apple sake. We both had sushi. Mine tasted pretty good but some of the avocado was brown, so it didn't look great. The salad and soup were good. I had chicken and shrimp and I found both to be very bland and underseasoned. There are other Japanese steakhouse type restaurants that I would probably choose over this one, just because I like the way that other places season their food."
