  • "We always use the birthday coupon and have a really good meal. We go here for other holidays also. They have a big menu to choose from and the food is always good. We usually sit at the habachi table where the food is prepared in front of you, but tried sitting at a table in the lounge this time. (better if you can't spend as much time)"

  • "This is not just a wonderful place for food but comes with a show too. Fun and enjoyable evening for our whole group. Excellent service from the front door on. We had a great time."

  • "I just want to commend my waitor, I apologize I will need to get his name but he was great. He was tentative the entire meal. I appreciated his service and expertise. He made sure drinks were full for the entire table, he offered items we needed or may have wanted. He was very kind and polite. Thank you, he made my visit worth it!!!! The chef was great as well."

  • "Our chef was amazing and made the experience better than it would have been. I made reservations and still had to wait before we were seated. When we finally were seated it took forever for our waiter to come and take drink orders. Then he was pretty much missing in action the entire dinner service. We were surrounded by a bunch of loud people who were cursing and yelling and made the experience horrible. If it wasn't for the free coupon I would not dine at Benihana. It was much better before the renovations."

  • "I took my sister to Benihana's for her birthday. This was her first time eating at Benihana's. We both enjoyed the dinner. We had Shrimp and Scallops with fried rice. OMG. Then we had Sherbet ice cream. The ice cream was very good as well. They sang happy birthday to her and took our picture. What an awesome time we had together while enjoying Benihana's."

  • "We had never been to Benihana's but I have always heard good things about it. The dining experience was very nice - we were with a group of 6 who were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The chef was not as entertaining as we had hoped - but the food was delicious and cooked perfectly. It was a little pricier than our local japanese restaurant."

  • "We have been going to this restaurant for over 40 years. Originally it was called "Samurai". The concept remained the same when Benihana took over, but some of the foods on the plate are no longer there. Sure miss those sprouts! And this past visit, there was significantly less zucchini and onions on our plates. We just celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary there and we continue to visit a couple of times a year. This restaurant is a one hour and 15 minute drive from our home or we would go more often. Best food experience anywhere. Great service. Great food.."

  • "I used to love this place. I moved out of state and was shocked at how the customer service has changed I had to wait for 30 minutes after my reservation. Wasn't asked about drinks until another 30 minutes. Chef was excellent. After he was finished the lady came with boxes and bags. I was totally disappointed and spent well over $200, no tip was given. I will never visit this restaurant again nor recommend."

  • "Benihana is the original Japanese dining experience and is still better than all of the copycat/knockoffs in the area. The food is high quality and the atmosphere is casual yet not tacky. While it's too pricey to go there every week or even every month, their $30 off birthday certificate makes it the perfect place to celebrate special occasions. Great place to bring a group of 8 or go with a date and meet new people. EIther way it is ALWAYS an enjoyable, memorable night out."

  • "The staff was pleasant enough and our chef was great with the kids. My big complaint is that the food was different then previous times. Instead of getting mixed veggies with the habachi meal, all that was provided was a strip of zucchini. Also the price to add fried rice was a little ridiculous, and there should be an option to order fried rice without chicken. That being said the kids really enjoyed it, but it is a bit pricey."

  • "I have been to several tepanyaki style restraints. This place is just ok. Food was great but waiter did a poor job and had to be reminded of the things he was forgetting. Chef went through the motions but was not engaging."

  • "I brought my boyfriend and son for my man's birthday. We waited over for over an hour before we reveived a chief. We were promised an executive chef but what we got was a low two bit chief with a bad attitude, received small portions and offered no conversation or entainments/tricks the whole sloppy cooking night. I am a vegetarian so she decided that I don't get onions and mushrooms because she cooked it with a spatula that touched meat."

  • "My party of 2 was seated with a party of 6 when I clearly asked for the dining room none cooking station. A member join the party at 6 making making their party 7. Now at a 8 seating table is holding 9 people. There was no room for plates glasses or any elbow grounds I was completely unable to enjoy my meal why was an additional seat pulled up or why was my to party even seated with a party of 7 I am unsure of. I never wanted the cooking station in the first place."

  • "It's been a few years sine I been to Benihana's of Tokyo. I remember the Japanese girl in the kimono, the warm towel to wash your hands the wonderful theatrics by the Japanese chefs, the hibachi sprouts and the steep bill. It is all gone but the steep bill. The service was fine, but the ambiance was gone. The skills of the chef with his knives and the warm sensation when the oil ignites has turned into a poor steam display out of a stack of onion rings. As I watched the performances at the other tables, the display was poor. The flavor of my "special" Valentines menu was lacking, at best. In years past I visited the Benihana's in Key West and Harrisburg Pa, but Cleveland ended my experience. I wouldn't waste my time or money here. Sayounara"

  • "Drinks came slowly - menu presented incorrectly .. White rice or fried rice? We said fried but they gave us chn fried rice and charged us 14$ extra. Checks took forever to come to us and then to receive back to settle. No glasses clean to pour Sapporro beer into per Ariel. Huge disappointment and we spent over $200."

  • "We went on Valentine's Day. I felt really rushed. The food wasn't as good as it normally is. The wait staff started to put clean dishes on the table while we were still seated. I love Benihana but this wasn't a good experience."

  • "I have been a fan of Benihana's in Beachwood for years. Unfortunately, I am becoming more and more disappointed each time I go. The servers are wonderful and very attentive. What has really plummeted is the quality or lack thereof in the chefs. It was immediately noticeable the lack of skill in our chef. Our table spoke and interacted with our chef very little in an effort to not be a distraction to them. The chef was really struggling with cooking and getting things done correctly. After the food was prepared and served, with NO showmanship I might add, I then asked the chef where they trained to be a hibachi chef. They informed me "a week and a half back in the kitchen here, I'm a quick learner!" Very poor indeed!"

  • "If you think that by paying more you get the best hibachi...you are absolutely wrong. This place is fairly expensive (not if you use birthday coupon). I would never go to this place unless I am in a big group and than also I will not recommend it to anyone. Not a good place for small family of 2-4. Service is very slow. Cooks are cooking one thing at a time. So by the time u get say zucchini, the next thing like fried rice will come after 20 mins and next 20 mins for ur meat. Also, these cooks don't put up a good show as at other hibachi places. Also, they don't care about reservation. We had to wait for 30 mins for our turn and another 30 mins at table before anyone showed up. FYI I went on weekday. Overall worst experince at least for me."

  • "Great food! Although the waiter was great, the bar service was horrible as well as the front of the house service. Wait times even w a reservation is horrible. If your ok w the loud atmosphere then you'll be fine."

  • "Food was decent. However our American Chef just took too long. She was very nice which was great, but too slow. The neighboring table started 5 minutes after our table and finished 5 minutes earlier. That makes a huge difference especially with little ones at the table. They lost interest about half way through."

  • "The food was excellent and Joseph was a great Chef but it took almost an hour to just be served and an hour 20 before we ate anything. Not sure why the service was so slow. Everything else was good!"

  • "I use to love going to Beni's. This last experience was not that great. The service was so so, we did get our dinner napkins had to ask for those. Me my family and one of my friends went for my birthday and they came and sung the birthday song but didn't take the picture so we had to get the manager and he went and got the camera to take the picture. The chef we had was nice but a lil smart at the mouth. As he prepared the food we notice that he didn't cook all the veggies at once, he cooked the zucchini, sliced it then laid it on everyone's plate. So everyone had a look on there face like what is this, then I inquired and he was like this is how we do it and everyone was like no! So then he replied well do you want a new chef?"

  • "I waited over an hour and had a reservation for a party of 1. I was rushed to order my food and the service was absolutely horrible. The waitress had a broom in her hand when I ordered. This was a very bad dining experience and ruined my birthday treat. The food was not good and the portion size was extremely small. DO NOT go here for a special occasion. I have been going here for years and the service is getting worse and worse. And the prices are outrageous!"

  • "We had a 730 reservation, didnt get seated until 830. Chef didnt come until after 9pm. Our server was terrible and gave me attitude because I should have ordered my wine earlier? I'm sorry I wanted to wait until my food was actually being served. While the chef and food were great, the wait and service was absolutely terrible. WILL NOT BE BACK"

  • "The chef really makes the meal so enjoyable. They are so well trained and so likable. The extra touches like the onion volcano makes kids love the routine. The mother at our table had a birthday and she was so special and included us in her celebration. A big thanks to her."

  • "I go a couple of times of year to Benihana for the Teppan menu. They don't have the 'market' locked especially with several recent openings of new Hibachi restaurants that are just as good and slightly cheaper. But, I went for my birthday armed with my Chef's Table birthday certificate. Dinner was good, service in the lounge was great. But those waiting for the Teppan tables with the 'shown were waiting up to 90 minutes to be seated. Love the food, but skip the show (if you've seen it) and sit in the lounge."

  • "Had a horrible interaction with the rudest lady manager EVER. I know Benihana is not the highest end restaurant, but for New Year's Eve I felt like the prices were a bit high. I would expect to get treated a little better for my 175.00 meal. The manager was very rude and had no people skills."
