  • "My family and I went to Benihana's and overall it was a good experience. The food was moist, cooked perfectly, and delicious. The service was wonderful. However, my sushi was not cold. It seems to have been prepared and then left to sit at room temperature. This very same thing happened on another occasion. Over the years I have visited Benihana's and Japanese Steak Houses overseas and I believe that you could provide a better presentation by the Chefs'. The Japanese Chefs' overseas present a much better presentation than the chefs' here. The chefs' need to practice more with their knives, the salt and pepper shakers and filleting shrimp and other food items. My recommendation is to add to your staple presentations. Thank you"

  • "The restaurant was very, very noise. Sounded like a high school cafeteria in there. Wait to be seated was very long, even though we had a reservation. Food portions were very small. Four thin slices of Zucchini and two pieces of chicken for 8 people. Prices were far too high. Over $100 for two people to dine. Restaurant was very, very dark. So dark, that you could barely see the chiefs doing their flair cooking. We probably will not be back."

The menu changed for the better since our last visit (much more inventive) our chef was entertaining,dynamic and had us laughing at his antics while he cooked a perfectly delicious dinner for everyone at the table. The wait staff was very attentive and thoughtful in moving us through the Benihana experience efficiently without rushing us. However, the noise level was so loud, it was almost difficult to hear the chef and ceratinly others at the other end of the table."

  • "We were in Carlsbad and decided to eat at Benihana because our kids love it. We eat at the one in Dallas fairly often. I'm not sure if it was just our table or if the other tables had the same problem, but it was SO DARK! We could not even read our menus and had to ask for a flashlight. The food was delicious, and our chef was so entertaining, but we just wish we would have had a little more light to see what was going on."

  • "The srvc @ the restaurant is getting bad, this was an important business lunch for 8 people. I arrived early to make sure our table was good & ready, receptionist said no problem. My party gets there, she was on the phone, she sees us, then takes off to the back of the restaurant. We wait there for a good 5-7 minutes before being seated. The waiters not observant of our table even though we were only 1 of 2 parties there. The show cook was too concerned w/his part of the act that he interrupted our business conversation to show off his tired routine (how many times can u see a volcano?) & he was commenting & giving his opinion about a conversation we were having. Chicken was dry. Disappointed & embarrassed to have taken my clients there."

  • "I started by booking this reservation on line. I really hope they will change their system soon!! It is too hard to select the keys because everything is spinning, horrible system needless to say. The restaurant experience was good. We got in right away which is not common at Benihanas. The food was excellent and my son was celebrating his 18th birthday. We had their house chardonay and it was good. I like the fact that they do have several great wines to choose between. I had to ask for my white rice because somehow they tend to forget the customer that do not participate in the fried rice. I often order the chateaubriand because it gives you a little more of the filet minion."

  • "Usually the waitresses hand the forks on plates for the diners to take themselves, however, this time the waitress just placed it on the dirty table, even threw it in a way. She came to our table and only asked the person who bought a beverage if she wanted a refill, while my glass of water was empty and I wasn't offered a refill until about 10 min later. The food was ok, the chef seemed to be in a hurry which caused him to make mistakes such as leaving shrimp on the tails and thus throwing it away, the onions were undercooked, and the fried rice wasn't thoroughly mixed. Also, my wife was almost halfway done with her entree by the time her steamed rice arrived, and only when we reminded the waitress to bring it."

  • "In California, a vegetarian (not vegan or very picky) should be able to go to any restaurant, especially a huge restaurant, and be able to order something other than a bunch of steamed vegetables from the grill. Yes, there is a tofu steak, a noodle dish, and a veggie roll, but we can't even enjoy a miso soup since it has fish stock. The Japanese especially are skilled in vegetable side dishes and entrees. Why can't this restaurant catch up with the times and offer authentic vegetarian dishes. Also, the salads are awful- I paid $16 for iceberg lettuce? Really?"

  • "I wanted my kids to experience the excitement that Benihana has to offer. The chef (Tim) was amazing. He was fun and very interactive. The kids enjoyed their experience. Food tasted great and the service was good. The only negative was that I was charged extra for the kids fries rice which I was not aware it didn't come with their meal. Their meals ended up more costly than mine and they only are a couple bites. Overall the experience was great, until the check came."

  • "I have to many Benihana Restaurants over the years and I have to say the food has been constantly great to very good. Although I do tire from the chef skills at the table at times, my kids never tire from it. This chef did fine in that area. My problem with this particular one had more to do with the food and less to do with chefs acrobatic knife skills. The food was just plain bland."

  • "I am a loyal customer of Benihana, but this was one of the worst experiences we had. The chef took over 40 minutes to cook our food. I know in Orlando they were much quicker around 20 minutes. It was painful waiting for the next food to be finished cooking. I was practically exhausted and falling asleep by the time my steak was ready. The restaurant was pretty much dead by 10:00 PM on a Friday night. We were one of the last two groups left. Also, I thought having all of the tables in one large square room was a bad idea because I can see everyone in the room. Maybe dimmer lights will solve the problem."

The food is always delicious and expertly prepared to perfection. We love the fried rice and all the courses that are included. We always leave with happy tummies. Our only wish is that the chefs would change up the routine. We have been here so many times that we know the routine by heart. Nevertheless, we will definitely be back!"

  • "We went to celebrate our third year anniversary, which fell on a Sunday. I had never been there before, so I didn't really know what was about to happen. I was a little dismayed about having to sit with five screaming teenagers celebrating a birthday when I wanted more of an adult-like atmosphere. The place actually had a lot of young kids, I was surprised. Some of the food entertainment was cheesy, like flicking the lights on and off, but you cannot dismiss the talent of the chefs. The food quality was great and everything tasted amazing. I had a hard time deciding which sauce I liked more. Our server made sure that our celebration wasn't drowned out by the overzealous teenagers. We both appreciated it a lot. Overall, it was a great night."
