If you’ve never been to Benihana before, let us tell you what you can expect: Our guests are seated at communal tables in groups of eight to ten, where your personal chef will perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Watch as we slice and dice, preparing a meal that will dazzle your eyes as well taste buds, whether you choose mouth-watering steak, tender chicken or succulent seafood.

Or you can visit our sushi lounge where a talented sushi chef will prepare the freshest sashimi, maki and signature sushi rolls with the same flair that made Benihana a legend in Japanese cuisine. Smaller tables and more intimate seating is available in the lounge or bar on a first-come, first-served basis, whether you’re looking to enjoy one of our delicious Benihana Teppanyaki entrées or our amazing selection of sushi!

  • "You show up at this place, and they immediately tell you that you are not going to be seated anywhere near your reservation time. We were waiting 30 minutes before I went back to the front desk to inquire how much longer it was going to be, just to be lied to that they were calling my name a while ago. Once seated, it took another 30 minutes to get the ball rolling. 1.5 hours before we got to eat."

  • "We were seated 1 hour late but we were waiting in the bar it was an excellent service recovery when our drinks were given free . When we sat for dinner the cook was very good The food was fresh & delicious . Very cheap considering the quality & service .We felt welcome & they have apologized many times for the delay . The young front desks persons should be trained more on how to deal with upset customers though ."

  • "We had reservations for 7pm. We arrived 5 to 7 and checked in. At 7:10 I asked what the status of our table was. They asked if I checked in and I said yes, I checked in at 6:55. They said our table will be ready in 5 min. At 7:20 I asked the status of our table, they said it will be ready in 5 min. I asked to speak to the manager bc I was told prior that it will be ready 5 min and it was not. They told me to speak to someone who was clearly not the manager and as told the same thing. We finally got seated at 7:30."

  • "A group of us -- we all went to high school and university together -- get together once a month for lunch. Benihana in Burlingame is our favorite and provides excellent food and service, and chefs that are clever and very entertaining. We'll certainly be returning regularly even though it is a distance for some of us. That makes no difference because everything is perfect there."

  • "Seafood is great. Make sure you add $3.75 for the fried rice instead of just regular steam rice. You won't regret. I always loved Land & Sea, with great beef and scallop. This is a place for food and celebration, but you can't really talk here because it is wayyyyyy too noisy."

  • "Great place for a group of 8 or less. Private room, great chef, entertaining and filet mignon melted in your mouth. Service was excellent! Seated a few minutes before our reservation time even! 6 of us for dinner and 6 people who loved the food. Try the baby blue moon if you're a fan of umbrella drinks. Only negative was that it was a little loud. Not the place for a quiet conversation, but a rousing party atmosphere."

They even sent me a text reminding me it was time to leave. The food is always very good, atmosphere is fun."

  • "This is a tradition of friends and family to celebrate birthdays. Last few times we have been there we have reservations at a certain time yet we have to wait nearly an hour for our table. Not sure if it is their intent to have you buy drinks in the bar. This tradition of benihanas is getting quite annoying though."

  • "I come to Benihanas once a week and everytime I leave I still can't get enough of it. The noise level sometimes can be a bit annoying but a lot of people do come here it's usually always busy so if you don't mind a little noise then shouldn't be a problem. Service sometimes a little lacking when you need something but the food is great never any less."

  • "I have dined at this Benihana for over 20 years and I have to say this may very well have been my last visit. Our "Chef" could not have cared less about what he was doing. Our order was not correct and the staff didn't seem to care. Our waitress did not understand the menu and told us we could not order a shrimp appetizer, even though it was on the menu. After several minutes she finally understood. Considering the very inflated prices, i.e. $3.25 for a small bowl of soup or salad you would think the staff would be accommodating. Since I know the regional chef trainer for this restaurant I will be sharing this horrible experience. I have several hundred dollars in gift cards to sell on eBay now."

  • "My wife and I decided to have a nice Japanese Dinner and was totally disappointed. The cook over-cooked my wife's salmon, his food timing was totally off and I asked for medium well on my Filet Mignon and some pieces were medium and the veggies were cold by the time he finished. Never asked if everything was ok or if my wife's food was okay since she barely touched it. I did speak to the manager regarding my wife's salmon and he did take it off the check. I was expecting a good authentic Japanese food but what I got was a very Americanized food. I would not recommend Benihana."

  • "My daughter always begs us to take her to Benihana to celebrate her birthday. I made my reservations via Open Table noting that it was to celebrate her birthday. When we checked in, the hostess made a point to mention to us that they knew we were there to celebrate a birthday so I thought we were in for a good night. However, after the initial check in, they completely forgot it was my daughter's birthday. They actually asked us THREE times over the course of dinner if we were there to celebrate anything special and each time we told them it was her birthday. However, they STILL forgot to sing to her until we asked them to do something. They even sang to another girl that was sharing our table! Was very disappointed with their service."

  • "We come here often - for special events, meet people here, or just because. Free valet so parking is never an issue. Being able to make a reservation on Open Table means we always get the time and day we want to eat there. Service is always prompt and friendly, the chefs are funny and eager to please, and the food is out of this world! Steak, seafood, rice, vegetables... Everyone is happy and plates are always empty when we are finished. This location gets crazy around 630-700 pm so my advice is go early. Always nice to take a short stroll outside on the shoreline path and watch planes taking off and landing before we leave. Never had a bad meal here. Can't wait to go back! Domo Arigato!"

We sat for quite a while before getting drinks or placing our orders...People sitting next to us go there all the time and said that it wasn't normally like this. Hadn't been to Benihana in probably 25 years but I remember there being much more showmanship and engaging with the participants than what we experienced this time.... Chef was cordial and did a great job on the food but there just wasn't the same fanfare in years past."

  • "We had a 7:30pm reservation and were seated at 8:00pm only after complaining. They made no attempt to keep us informed or make our wait easier. We then waited another 30 minutes for our first course of soup while they seated other diners at our table. They run as many people through this restaurant as possible so get an early reservation or be prepared to wait. Unfortunately, complaining seems to be the only thing to get their attention. I once met and had dinner with Benihana's founder, Rocky, at his then restaurant north of Miami. He would not have been happy with this."
