  • "First, we had a 6:30 pm reservation and arrived at 6:26 pm. We then had to wait another 20 minutes for a table making me wonder why I bothered with a reservation. The place was PACKED and the restaurant was obviously not set up to handle a full house of customers. When we were finally seated, we had to wait another HOUR (yes, a full hour) for a chef. The chef was okay overall, but he burned some of the food as he rushed trying to finish our table and move to the next one. A bus boy dropped a set of chopsticks for another table on my husband's head and didn't apologize or even acknowledge that it happened - he just picked them up from the floor and put them on the table next to ours. Finally, our server screwed up the check."

  • "I was forced to go because of my wife's birthday. Never again will I pay so much for cold food. They give you pedestrian sauces to cover up the lack of flavor in their preparations. We got a cheesey Mexican chef that couldn't get it right, kept throwing food around, missing the target. By the time the protein was cooked, the rice was cold. I think if you had a couple of drinks, one would not care so much. Maybe that is the plan."

  • "First time back to Benihana's since I was a very young boy about 40 years ago, I remember it being a really fun place to eat with great food. Now I am just wondering why it took me so long to go back? the food was amazing and the chefs really do a great job of putting on a performance all the while preparing some really great food.   • "We arrived on time for our reservation, however we had an additional 20 minute wait for a table to clear. When we were finally able to be seated, the manager informed me that due to the delay, order some appetizers and he would take care of them. I wasn't really put off by the wait, but sure appreciated a chance to try some things off of the appetizer menu. The wait between drinks, soup, salad and the meal prep was sufficient. Our Chef Phillipe was fun to watch and very engaging. Overall, the food prep was fun, the meal was delicious and the service was great."

  • "I have been to this restaurant many times and have enjoyed the food and entertainment. This time I left frustrated and may never go back. We had a family of five and sat with another family of three. Our family paid 18 dollars extra each for fried rice. The other family only paid for one. When it came time to divide the rice the chef gave everyone at the time fried rice even those who did not pay or order it-essentially giving away our paid for portion without asking us. Then he also gave them "the extra" rice again they did not order or pay for it. It was so frustrating I couldn't enjoy the rest of my meal. -which by the way was rubbery. Paid a lot for rubbery filet and frustration."

  • "I planned an evening for my friends, 43rd birthday. I had made reservations online prior to the celebratory dinner. Ron and I had a great time, however since this was his first visit, he truly enjoyed the experience. We will be back very soon. He even received his birthday membership coupon but was unfamiliar, so he will be able to visit before the end of the month. Thank you for making our evening a BLAST!!!!"

  • "My husband and I went there for our anniversary this past weekend. We made reservations, which is a must for this establishment; otherwise you will be in the lounge (same food, just not prepared in front of you). We love the food and the energy, but if you are looking for romantic, the tight fit around the stove makes your romantic evening shared with strangers. We are larger people so we request the end chairs, but the corner person fights for leg room with the opposing corner person. We love the food and fun though, and for the price, its an only special occasions kind of place."

  • "My friend and I went here for a nice lunch and we were not disappointed. The greeting made us feel like valued guests. The show put on by the chef added greatly to the dining experience. The service was great and we were not rushed to leave as my guest finished her wine. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to everyone!!"

  • "I just moved here a year ago and this was my first trip to the restaurant. I've been to other similar places and loved them. I found Benihanas entertaining... Food was good. But the waitress wasn't great. Forgot my son's fried rice order, which they got one from the kitchen free of charge for him. Noodles were listed on the menu for his salmon selection and he didn't get them, my daughter-in-law was supposed to get ice cream with her meal and she didn't get it and apparently I was supposed to get a dessert for my birthday and sung to etc. the waitress asked at the beginning and so she knew it was my birthday. (Although I have to say I was not unhappy about missing that... I heard already heard it 3 or 4 times for others)"

  • "My first time here, it was definitely fun and great for our group, which included kids. We were a bit disappointed that our 8:15 reservation resulted in the Teppan Chef finally arriving at our table an hour later. I would expect the wait to be 30 minutes so we could order drinks and be served salad and soup. The hour wait was far too long with 4 hungry boys who were excited for their first time as well. The food was excellent and the show as our chef cooked was very entertaining. We will return, but we will book at a less busy time if they don't have sufficient staff."

We had been traveling for nearly 2 weeks throughout various parts of central Oregon, Portland and the Willamette area and found it difficult to eat out for a great dinner anywhere with a very difficult to keep busy and happy 20th month old. She literally made going to dinner a scary, anxious experience. From the minute our wonderful waiter approached our table she was giddy and the happiest we had seen her in days. He smiled at her, talked to her, engaged her. He was so attentive to all of us and made sure our 12 year old had her glass filled. Our chef was great and the food was much better than any of us has expected. It was a great experience all around!Wish it was closer to us."

  • "My husband and I went to Benihana's to use my $30 birthday coupon last week. My first comment would have to be I was surprised how many kids were there...but they all seemed to be enjoying the show and the food. The restaurant has lots of little touches that make the meal special. The entertaining staff, cute drink glasses (they need to talk about these before you order...I'd have bought one if I'd know what the deal was). The food was delicious. Perfectly prepared. Be sure to spring for the fried rice...yummm. The evening ended with a birthday dessert and a candle to make a wish on. We will definitely do this again!"

  • "I'm totally biased about this restaurant. I went here as a kid a couple dozen times. It didn't matter if it was my birthday, my brother's, my parents' anniversary, whatever. As a family, we celebrated milestones and entertained guests here. This is the place where I learned how to eat with chopsticks. I just went back as an adult, and it's even better than I remember. Best scallops I've ever had, and probably the best seafood I've eaten in Oregon. I love this place, even through the renovations to make it look exciting and modern. It may be a chain, but it's just so consistently delicious and fun."

  • "This place would be particularly good for a small group get together, although if you wanted to talk with everyone be prepared to speak up as its quite noisy. (which is reasonable given the set up of food being prepared right in front of you) Service was great. The food was good. Ordered the Deluxe Treat, which is lobster and steak. The lobster was disappointing, as it was too salty, and was cooked along with the shrimp appetizer which slightly impacted the taste. I'll go back, but given the entree prices, probably won't waste money on the high end options. I'd order shrimp/chicken/the less expensive steak and just enjoy the experience. If I want high end, perfectly cooked and seasoned steak/seafood, I'll go to Ringside in PDX."

  • "Our chef was so nice, funny and entertaining! He was so good that my 4 year old daughter got out from crouching behind my chair to sitting on her chair smiling as our chef engaged her in his antics. He made a heart with the fried rice and made the heart "beat", flipped shrimp tails into his chef coat pocket, and much more. The fried rice was very good as well as my mango salmon and my husbands teriyaki steak. I didn't care for the shrimp. One thing that I didn't expect is that other people sat at out "table" to fill up all eight seats. It makes sense, just FYI. Overall a fun and tasty experience for my birthday dinner. Make sure you sign up to become a member of the chef's table so you can get a $30 certificate the month of your birthday!"

  • "I have been going to Benihana for years and was really disappointed this time. We had a reservation for 8:15 and didn't get seated until 8:30. Once seated we did not get waited on for almost 20 minutes. Once the chef finally came out he seemed to be impaired and it took over an hour for our food most of which was overcooked. This is the first time that we have not had good service but I was not impressed. The noise level was so high that I could not hear or understand what anyone was saying."

  • "The noise level was awful. We not only could not hear our waitress you could barely understand her. Her English diction was awful . My chicken was like a hockey puk and so was my husbands. I have been at this resturant years ago, but food quality has gone way down, and price was refi vials for what we got. Waitress kept trying to up-sell us and I was frankly offended."

  • "I've been going to Benihana since 1977. My first experience was in San Francisco. I used to love it, now it's just okay for me. I enjoy lunch there more than teppan dinners now. I only go to dinner when I have a birthday coupon. The Beaverton store is a little better since the first time we went 5 years ago. It's not the cleanest restaurant. The floors and trepan table are always dirty. The bathrooms are always dirty. We could not understand our waitress and she forgot to take off the $30. Coupon from our bill. I barely caught it. The chef good except for when he banged his spatula hard on the grill right in front of my shy granddaughters. They never want to go back. They loved the flute playing nice chef we had before."
