We loved the food so much, pasta arabiatta, meatballs and veal parm, that we returned three nights later. The marinara sauce and meatballs were the best I've had. The waitstaff was very attentive and I appreciated that we were able to get the table we requested with our reservation both nights. I will be back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBenevento's- What a great spotThanks to the flexibility of the ver accomodating host, we were able to call at 6:00 to push back our 6:30 reservation to 7. We had a terrible time choosing what we wanted for dinner because everything looked so good and all at an extremely reasonable price. I ended up with the 4 cheese pizza, after all, I could watch the woodfire oven cooking those delicious pies and couldn't resist. My boyfriend ended up with Pasta and carbonara sauce. DIVINE, though not the lightest dish. The Bellini was good for something new, but next time I think I'll stick to wine. Our server was very personable and helpful and stayed on top of things. The service here was excellent -- fun, energetic waitresses took great care of us. The food is great and the portions are very large for very reasonable prices. Prices that are much different from what you usually find in similar North End restaurants! The goat cheese and fig salad was awesome. We arrive at the front door and we were greeted by a very energetic and lovely hostess. She introduces us to the bar tender and they take good care of us. After a few drinks we move to our table. Our waitress is very knowledgable about he menu and the specials. She says, "the pasta is home made, here are some things you might like to consider. If you don't see something that quite meets you interest let me know what you are looing for and we will make it for you." The hostess was friendly from the beginning ... such a good start to an excellent meal. The server was exactly the same and you felt like you were an honored guest at the resturant. There were three of us for dinner. We ordered the calamari special to share. It was a generous portion and perfect. We also ordered the ceasar salad for two which was more than enough, with leftovers even, for three of us. We each had a generous entree and everyone was more than happy with their choices. Go early to get a seat by the window. Casual dining not high end. No desert menu because of Italian Bakeries in the area. Only had one gluten free pizza that was better and that was at a place in NYC.
Only thing that would make the pizza better is if they had a different oven they could bake it in, but since it's in a shared oven they have to use a metal tin on the bottom. The house merlot was not good, for appetizers we had the eggplant rollatinis, which were delicious. We also had the spicy fried calamari which was good but nothing special. The pizza was very delicious, some of the best oven baked ones iv had. The penne alla vodka wasn't good though, the cream was a little too watery and it lacked flavor.
