  • Private Party Facilities: Bender"s has three private dining areas to choose from. The Original Ladies Dining Room will host up to 65 people for sit down dining. The rooms original mosaic tile floor, dark wood walls and an original dry bar creates a wonderful atmosphere for a smaller business function or rehearsal that would need space for cocktail hour or hors d'oeurves. The Green Room will host up to 50 for a sit down dining or becomes a great space for a smaller event that requires A/V equipment, or a smaller feel for a special occasion. The Private Back Main area will seat up to 16 for sit down dining. The space is ideal for a small birthday party, business function or special event. Bender's service and culinary staff prides itself on serving large groups with individual attention to personal needs and quality efficient service.

Overall the ambiance is old urban tavern style. It looked like a place that would smell musty but it doesn't smell musty. it just has that feel. It is not dirty but just an old tavern. I would go back. "

My grandfather had a small café in Barberton and Wadsworth and raved about dining at Benders and it's contemporary competitor, two blocks away called Mergus's. Benders has survived and thrived. When your foot feels the well worn sandstone front step, you realize that many diners have passed this way before you. Their expansive list of seafood is the attraction for me. The sea bass on top of the hummus with a spicy chermula sauce keeps me coming back. Our friends enjoyed their swordfish - as savory as Lois promised it would be. Lois was very cordial and helpful. She's tasted everything on the menu and guided us, without hovering. "

What we received: Seating next to a large group of loud business men (numerous other tables available), a non-existent waitress, bad appetizers, salads swimming in dressing, and undercooked steaks. Even the desserts were a disappointment. All for the bargain basement price of $130. I wanted this to be special for my wife, so I just smiled and made the best of it. "

I pulled up OT as I was pulling into Canton, and saw Benders just a few blocks from my destination. I made the reservation and was impressed. My walleye was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, and my girlfriend's swordfish atop risotto was among the best preparations I've ever tasted. I don't find myself in Canton very often, but I believe that I will return at some point!"

Their seafood selection is flown in fresh several days each week and is incredible for it's variety and quality. The menu is a perfect combination of favorite old standbys and special items that the chef has prepared for that day. You simply cannot go wrong at Benders. Perfect atmosphere, outstanding food and very attentive service."

  • "We come here 2-3 times a year and never have I tried anything that is not excellent. . The bay scallops are amazing, but the best thing on the menu is the fresh Lake Erie Perch. Its local and caught within a day or 2 usually more often brought in that day and the chef does just enough to it to make it melt in your mouth like butter without hiding the wonderful flavor of fresh caught perch. Amazing! Been to highly acclaimed restaurants all around NE ohio including Blue Point Grille in Cleveland. Nothing beats a meal at Benders. If one of your party is not into seafood, not to worry there are steaks and salads (the Prime Rib on Friday-Sat nights) that are on par with anything else they sell, but the seafood is where they truly shine."

  • "An evening out to celebrate my daughter's and wife's birthdays. We had a nice table for four in one of the back rooms. The restaurant had a wonderful "old world" feel. The turtle soup was unique but very good and my daughter enjoyed the lobster bisque. My wife loved the shark with a little cajun flavor. The seared tuna was done to perfection according to my son-in-law. Everyone was pleased with their choices for dinner and specialty drinks and the evening was a success thanks to the excellent service and food. We would definitely return to try some of the other dishes or specials for the day."
