It was very busy for a Tuesday night so I think reservations would be highly recommended for a Thursday-Saturday night. The service was impeccable from the time we checked in until the time we left. The MELANZANE ALLA PARMIGIANA was outstanding as a shared appetizer and would probably be a wonderful entree served with a side of pasta. The pasta was obviously homemade as was the sauce (we had the ARRABBIATA and the SUMMER) and was cooked to perfection. Both of our dishes were wonderful. We shared a salad (INSALATA MISTA) due to its generous size. Our server was engaging and excellent overall and we never felt rushed. We have our favorites (mine is the Bencotto sauce on the tagliatelle), but each new dish we try is wonderful, too! You have to try the Pink Pancetta sauce it's delicious.
Can't go wrong with anything covered in the bolognese sauce.
Some good Italian wines and a nice dessert selection4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA MUST DO ITALIAN EXPERIENCE!!!Bencotto's was our 2nd choice based on ratings as we could not get a reservation at the top rated Italian restaurant. I was never more happy NOT being able to make a reservation. From the wine to the desert, it was the BEST meal we have ever had. The prescuitto and aged cheese appetizer is a must. The presciutto was freshly cut & so lean and thinly cut, and along with the 24 and 40 month Reggianno, words can not do it justice. We also had the baked zucchini and cheese which was amazing. Our main course, pumpkin ravioli (awesome) and the 3 cannoli desert met the same standards. We had a bottle of 2009 Napa Cabernet and our total bill w/tip was $160. 3 out of 4 main courses were great. Unfortunately, this was the first time I was disappointed. I got the gnocchi stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese with the bencotto sauce. The cheese was overpowering and not that tasty (and I never thought there is anything such as too much cheese). We were a few minutes late but we were seated right away. I had previously mentioned I would be bringing my dog so they reserved a nice table outside. I was a hesitant to sit outside due to the cold weather but it was shockingly warm because of the heaters they had strategically placed outside. The food was nothing short of amazing, which is not surprising. We have come here twice now and ordered the same thing, gnocchi and squid ink pasta. No one else can make it better!
