  • "We were looking for a chance to try this steakhouse for a while and finally had an open date which fell on our anniversary. Service was attentive and perfectly paced. Food was top notch and done exactly as ordered. A large lobster tail was delicious and the filet was one of the best ever. The biggest surprise was the German potatoes which we would not have ordered but for the waiter's recommendation and are not to be missed. An authentic piece of New York cheesecake was a surprise offering for our anniversary and much appreciated and enjoyed. This is certainly not just a special occasion restaurant. Ben and Jack's stands out in a crowded field of fine Scottsdale steakhouses."

  • "Food was great and service was good as well, very helpful with recommendations for the group. Only thing was there was no one there which I was a little apprehensive about when we first arrived. There was just our party of 5 and another party of 10 maybe in the entire restaurant. Then again that may have to do with it being a Tuesday night in addition to the location didn't get much foot traffic, it's tucked away in the back of a strip mall."

  • "This was our second time trying Ben and Jack's. The first time our experience was not good but this second time was like night and day. Starting with the service, Matt was great!! He made us feel welcome since the moment we sat down and told us to get ready for a great experience, and it was! We took his suggestions and ordered the steak for two, sauteed mushrooms and German potatoes. Everything was excellent. We finished the evening with a delicious desert. This time Ben and Jack's delivered the best steak in the valley!"

  • "Friday night business entertainment dinner for 12 was a nightmare. Missing utensils, wrong serving ware, missing salads, wine not decanted, wine not served correctly, butter spilled on guest, etc, etc. Dispite assurances from our head waiter that all would be well, it never really was. When I brought the situation to the attention of the Matre'd, Tony, there was no noticable improvement. It may have been just an off night, but the nearly empty Friday evening dining room left me wondering. The steak and seafood could have been exceptional, but the service was so distracting it was difficult to enjoy it. We were offered complementary dessert and coffee."

  • "My wife and I were visiting Scottsdale and decided to give Ben and Jack's a try. We had excellent service and enjoyed sharing a rib eye steak. It was cooked exactly to our order, delivered on hot platters, was tender and delicious. Along with a side-order of a baked potato, it made for a great dinner. We will return."

  • "First time at Ben & Jack's and it was very good. One of the best Caesar salad's I've ever eaten, dressing was perfect. Ordered the Filet Mignon--16 oz. wow!--perfectly cooked at medium rare and lots to take home. Had sauteed mushrooms and sauteed asparagus as our side dishes, the mushrooms were out of this world. I enjoy my vegetables al dente, but the asparagus could have been cooked for a bit longer. Service was slow and our server kept apologizing, but we weren't in a hurry, so it was no big deal. I had a dirty martini and my friend had a regular martini, both were excellent. The only hiccup was that my friend ordered wine with dinner and it never came. They did give us a coupon for 10% off a return visit."

  • "Beautiful dining room, good steak menu, martinis were exceptional and the simple green salad was wonderful, dressing amazing. Unfortunately, the waiter spent most of the time explaining why things were the way the were and that he wasn't a fan of New Yorkers and this was a New York steakhouse, the bread was hard and dry. We got the steak they are famous for, the porterhouse, the preparation was ok but the steak was flavorless and I love dry aged beef. We also got the potatoes they are famous for, they were burnt. They were removed from our tab but the experience just wasn't there. It was my husband's birthday so I wanted it special...it wasn't. It was just very expensive."

  • "I was so excited about going to Ben and Jack's, and was actually diappointed in the meal. While it was "good", it was not great, and for the prices one pays, it ought to be great. My rib eye steak was somewhat tough and the flavopr was not outstanding. The salad wedge and creamed spinash were outstanding...the German potatoes were cold, dry and forgettable. Overall I can not recommend."

  • "Ok we went on valentines day which i knew was gonna be busy. But we didnt expect over an hour wait wit reservation we made . We then were seated it took our server at least another 15 minutes to even introduce himself and then he took our drink order and gone another 15 before coming back to take orders. For that night maybe the should have had more help to make things smoothier for the price people pay they want good service along with good food. The steaks were really amazing and we also had calamari which was excellent. Sides we had regular mash potato which i had to say tasted worst than the box potato. And the whole time our water got filled twice."

  • "We have been to many 5 star steakhouses and after this experience wish we had settle for a burger for the special occasion. We were seated late for our reservation. Then waited another 15 minutes to see our waiter or even get a glass of water. Finally 30 minutes later after being seated was able to place an order of food. Waited...waited...45 minutes later the waiter tells us there are no more filets. Guess we mistaken this place for a steakhouse. I ended up ordering seafood. So it took almost 2 hours to receive our meals after being seated. Some food was tasty but mediocre. It may have been bad day to be there, I am not sure. Excuses being blamed on the Chef but I would say very poor management and understaffed. Over priced experience."

  • "Large Portions, Porter House Steak excellent Flavor, Filet Minion fair flavored. Very costly, over 200$ for two people not including tip. We had reservations at 930 pm, arrived early, waited 10 minutes after getting a table for menus. After menus were delivered, waited 20 minutes for waiter to come back, Placed order, one hoer later waiter asked if we were ready for the food to come out, and it was ordered to be cooked. Waiter mentioned bringing bread to the table while waiting about four times, just never received the bread. 1.75 hours after we sat down, the table had no napkins and after we finished appetizers we were able to capture another waiter from another section to get napkins for us. May consider coming back if reason is right"

We had to get up and go to the bar for our own drinks and had to ask for bread three times. Way understaffed and poorly managed. The food is worth the experience though. It's a tough call, but if you're in the area and you don't have anywhere to be, you might want to try it..."

  • "We dined at the restaurant last week. We ordered the New York strip and salmon. Both were ok, nothing great. We also split an order of fries that were a little too fried. They do have a good wine list, so I ordered a Cabernet. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu and creme brûlée. Tiramisu is my favorite and I have traveled far, just to try those that were rated good. This one was just ok. I thought the mascarpone was too heavy, not as light as it should be. The creme brûlée also didn't make an impression. What we did like about the restaurant was the ambience. They had a singer/pianist there that night. There were couples dancing in the bar area which was great. Overall, our experience was ok but we probably will not be visiting again."

  • "never one to complain. i'm grateful to be able to enjoy a nice restaurant like ben & jack's... however, a little dissapointed with my experience. when you spend $400 w/ tip for a table of 3 you expect perfection. lobster tail dry and tasteless. not a fresh catch. had to be frozen. also a couple of mistakes with service (do not think my waiter's fault...we really enjoyed miguel). one of the guys helping out brought us a steak that belonged to another table. we also waited a very long time for our entrees to arrive. we do understand and enjoy a nice spread out dining experience but this was more of a wait than it should have been."

  • "Our family loves steak, and we are regulars at Ben & Jack's in New York City. It was such a surprise to happen upon this in Scottsdale. Our local friends had never heard of B & J (open about a year), so we brought them in for the experience. I have not found any other steak house in Phoenix that truly serves all USDA Prime, plus it's well aged. Our steak was perfectly tender, juicy and very tasty. We always get the porterhouse for 2 to 3 people, which they cut up and serve on a sizzling plate. Each person can sear their pieces on the plate edge to their taste. We have found that with sides, the steak for 2 easily feeds three to four, so we turn it into a bargain."

  • "My wife and I have been looking for a non-chain fine dining experience for steak and seafood in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Mission accomplished. It was an excellent experience with good food and good service. The wait staff was very attentitive and helpful with our selections. We shared a salad, prime rib, baked potato, broccoli, nice bottle of wine, and pecan pie for dessert. It was plenty of food. We can't wait to go back."

  • "At 5pm, Ben and Jack's was half full, growing to about 3/4 capacity as the evening progressed. The atmosphere was notable for it's polished wood and brass, in addition to some excellent music emanating from the grand piano in the bar. We ordered the Norwegian Salmon and New York Steak, both of which were superb and served in very ample portions. The German potatoes were very nice, but for future visits I would pass on the creamed spinach. Still, all in all, a wonderful experience. Just what one would wish for a festive holiday meal. The only minus was in the service. Our primary waiter appeared hurried and distracted, perhaps to be expected on a busy evening such as Christmas. The rest of the staff were attentive and excellent."
