Diner Reviews
  • "Had a 7PM reservation but had a 1/2 hour wait for our table. Salmon and grouper were excellent, filet needed to be returned. Ordered it med rare but came out very rare. Vegetables had very heavy flavor of smoke - too much! Downstairs room very noisy as compared to the upstairs area. Manhattan and appletini were excellent - my compliments to the bartender!"

  • "We took our parents for dinner to celebrate my Mothers birthday. The Belvedere went over the top to make her feel special. They had a Happy Birthday note addressed to my Mother tucked in each one of our napkins. It was a wonderful welcoming way to start out our dinner. The server was friendly and helpful and the food was great! We don't get out often but we will try to get back soon. Thanks for a great evening!"

  • "The Belvedere is one of the very good restaurants in Lancaster but lately we've found the food rather pedestrian, especially at the prices they charge. They are now more generous with the portion size - for awhile everything was so small you were still hungry when you finished - but the dishes themselves, while they sound delicious - aren't very exciting. They do make excellent drinks and there is still much to like about the Belvedere, but the good quality had slipped."

  • "We are local to Lanc. and this was our first visit to Belvedere Inn. It will not be our last. Our food was great and the staff was excellent. Our waitress was the best. Quite outgoing and very easy to converse with. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to other friends. We got our reservation on line. Easy, quick response and perfect. Thank you for a great dinner. Desert was good too."

  • "My son who lives in Philadelphia was home for the weekend and we made plans to have dinner on First Friday. I asked him to pick where? No hesitation.......the Belvedere. Great service, food and a place you always feel welcome. If you haven't tried it yet you won;t be disappointed. If you have dined there before you will understand. Best in Downtown Lancaster!"

  • "Service was very good - food was different and excellent! Did not rush you out the door. A relaxing and enjoyable experience!! The wine list was very good but the beer was not as expansive a list- still there were a few good craft beer choices."

  • "Great service and really good food, though a bit pricey. Very nice ambiance; we were seated next to the candle-filled fireplace. Justin was a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter, and the host went out of his way to get us information about the great house Malbec my wife had. My Maker's Mark and Coke was perfect. The swordfish and Osso Bucco we had were wonderful. Great romantic dinner spot."

  • "Our first time at Belvedere and the experience was great. The service, atmosphere and food was top notch. We're not into the bar scene, but looked full and people having fun. Will definitely go back."

  • "Anytime we dine out, we hit the Belvedere. The mussels are outstanding, and there are always awesome dinner specials. We usually sit at the bar because we love Jamie's company, but when we make reservations, the service is always excellent. This place is outstanding; not only for delicious food, but for an extremely enjoyable atmosphere."

  • "Valentine's Day 2014 was the third time we ate at the Belvedere. It was, as always, a great experience. The food was first rate as was the service. Of couse they are the two most important considerations in chosing a restaurant and, when combined with the ambiance of the wonderful old building, they result in a totally enjoyable experience. If I had to pinpoint one not-so-great issue, it would be the parking which, on a snowy night when lots of couples are dining out, can be problematic. Happily, this year the Inn made arrangements with a local condiminum association for the use of its lot, so we could park within a handful of steps of the front door."

  • "We are at the Belvedere on valentines evening. It was fan static. Service was great, food was excellent and came out at just the right pace. I think some restaurants around the capital area have trouble pacing meals but the belvedere did it right. My only minor issue was the noise. We were seated in the front room near the bar and I'm sure that attributes to the noises but it seemed very loud. Still this is the only 'complaint' I could come up with. Great place!"

  • "A great way to celebrate that special night. Menu variety led to three or four options, with specials making choices even tougher. Appetizer and main course serving times allowed for conversation but not irritation. The short ribs and filet mignon main courses were excellent tastes, prepared perfectly, and leftovers were a special the following day. Only minor issue was the proximity of the tables being just a little close for privacy, but not a big deal. Service was quick, paid attention to our needs, and friendly without hovering. It was a snow day and city parking can be challenging but they called in advance to inform of additional parking in a lot nearby. Great experience, will return and reserve for other special occasions."

  • "Had a great dinner with outstanding service again. This is our go to place for dinner in Lancaster. Also, if you like Mussels they don't get much better than the Belvederes."

  • "We started with "Not Your Grandma's Pumpkin Pie" martini which was delicious. The shrimp and gritts appetizer and the tuna tartar were delightful. I had the veal which was fork tender and very flavorful. My husband had the filet which was done perfectly with asparagus on the side. We had no room for dessert this time. Our table was by the fireplace which was nice on a cold winter's evening. The service was great as always. Belvedere Inn is our always return to restaurant when we visit Lancaster."

  • "The Belvedere is a great little restaurant. This is the first time we ate downstairs, and it was a bit cramped. Going forward, I'd prefer to sit upstairs. There was a larger gentleman sitting at the table behind us and it seemed distracting for the wait staff to be in and out with restaurant goers moving about too. We had the Thai lettuce wraps as an appetizer and they were really phenomenal. The eggplant appetizer was nice as well. I was a little disappointed with my entree - I had the special that night which was Mahi Mahi. The fish was done a little too well. The vegetables and couscous that accompanied it were wonderful. My husband had the chicken dish and he was pleased with it."

  • "My fiance and I were looking for a new place to dine. We’ve been to all of the great places in Hershey and Harrisburg, and ventured down to Lancaster to find a new place to try out. We were not disappointed. Food was excellent, cooked to liking, and our server was outstanding. I wish I could recall his name, but he was very friendly and helped us enjoy our evening even more! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some good eats, a great wine list, and a great red sangria!"

  • "Restaurant is built up as a fine dinning experience, but other than the prices is far from it. We were greeted by a crowed and very loud dinning room. Server was OK, as wine presentation was correct however never returned after food arrived to ensure it was cook appropriately. Clam app had to unopened and an elbow pasta noodle in it, where is the attention to detail! Steak was over cooked, but did have a nice flavor, mashers were ice. Fish special was very good. This place was not worth 150 for two people. My dry disappointed and will not return. To many other nice places in Lancaster."

  • "It was our 2nd and we were not disappointed. Our first visit was almost a year ago and we were so surprised that our waiter, John, remembered us and greeted us in a friendly way. Though our table was handled by Jen, we were made to feel as if we were family by everyone. This restaurant covers all important bases, romance, ambiance, top notch food, and warm professional service... A home run!"

  • "We decided to treat ourselves to an excellent meal and the Belvedere didn't disappoint. It was a great place. Our table wasn't in the best location, next to the door where everyone came and went, but it wasn't terrible. The next table was noisy enough that there were times we could not hear the waitress, like when she describing specials. But, you can't really fault people for being a little loud when they're having a great time and celebrating a birthday. It was a nice evening and a great meal."

  • "We'd heard good things about the Belvedere, and decided to try it. The calamari appetizer special was great, fresh and no rubber bands! Their house bruschetta was almost like a French bread pizza...different and enjoyable. Dinner course was wonderful, I had the crawfish (full of flavor!) and hubby had the lobster tail special. So sweet and tender. Our server, Abby, was very knowledgeable and personable. We talked food and wine, just a great server overall and she added to the experience. It was still decorated for the holidays and was absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to go back and try some new things. I loved the date night with my hubby...perfect start to finish."

  • "The Belvidere Inn is a lovely restaurant and this is our third time dining there. However, this time we were a little disappointed in the food. Our filets were not tender and were very spicy. A flounder dish was very tasteless. The restaurant is always decorated beautifully and our service was good. The only disappointing feature was the food, which is mainly the reason that you go to a restaurant."

  • "I came to the Belvedere Inn Restaurant for dinner with a date, and I am very glad that I did. Memorable. Very good, with great style. The bartender wore jeans with a button down shirt and tie. The waiters had cool hairstyles. Yet there were touches of formality - the napkins and chairs, the quality of the food and its presentation, the way our waiter held himself, how attentive they were to us in general. Attractive mirrors on the walls, and black chandeliers. Since it was the holiday season, there were large, lit-up wreaths on several of the mirrors. The food had the restaurant's style. Very tasty bruschetta with a barbecue flavor. Caesar salad on a literal "sheaf" of lettuce. Delicious swordfish, simple, artful, tasty."

  • "The atmosphere was elegant and welcoming and we were glad we arrived early to take in the beautifully decorated bar and feel the ambience in the room. The bartender poured a healthy drink for us and we had time to linger and take the time to soak in the atmosphere. We were then escorted into a truly romantic dining room that was again decorated beautifully. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgable and the food was prepared to perfection and absolutely delicious. In addition, to our surprise our server presented us with two samples of wine that blended perfectly with our choice of entrees. The evening could not have been better as we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the Belvedere Inn."

  • "We met a couple from out of town for dinner. Our table was ready on time and the service was great. I had the short ribs which were fantastic. My wife had the grilled salad with tenderloin tips. The salad was great but the tenderloin was tough and chewey."
