  • It IS a bit crazy at Shirley's
    SeasonedDiner
    Dined on 8/23/2014
We were seated upstairs in the Crazy Shirley's bar area. The music (live, 4-piece group) was very pleasant, however the background din of diners and bar patrons speaking loudly to make themselves heard over the music was not. I understand some enjoy the "vibrant" ambiance, however for future visits I will request seating in the downstairs dining room. The food and service, as in past eperience, were both very good.

We took a vacation stop at Lancaster and made reservations here based on internet reviews. It was a decent restaurant. The food wasn't unique or memorable, but it was tasty and we enjoyed our dishes anyhow. The ambiance is really calm however the whole place is very dimly lit, a little more light couldn't have hurt. When we finished our food, however, our waiter passed us at least 5 times but didn't offer a bag or check for 20 minutes. Overall it was a good place and I'd recommend it anyway because the surrounding neighborhood isn't too exciting or as upscale as this restaurant.

The patio on the second floor is amazing. It is almost like a jungle with so many beautiful hanging plants and vines. On a summer night, it is just a wonderful place to eat. They have minimal lighting and just enough tables that it isn't too crowded. We really enjoyed it!

  • To much SALT
    Esther
    Dined on 6/23/2014
The main entre had too much finishing salt. It was very hard for my taste buds to go beyond the salt to the other complexities of flavors that the “chef” intended to have there. It is a good thing my blood pressure generally is on the low side, or I’d be in trouble. I tend to like savory foods anyway, but this was too much salt. Yes, could have sent it back, but we were with another couple and did not want to have a time element issue. My husband also complained regarding the salt content. Shame. As a foodie I would not recommend this restaurant, until the “chef” corrects his salt happiness.

Our reservation was for 5 guests outside on the deck but unfortunately it started to rain. No problem they were prepared for us inside as well. Our server Josh was very friendly (he recognized one of our party from 2 years ago!). The atmosphere was much more casual and relaxed than I thought it would be. The food was good however a bit pricy which will somewhat limit my frequency of visits when dining out. Over all our night was very pleasant.

The food was good but make sure you bring a winter coat durring summer if you are dinning on the main level. The HVAC is out of control and we ended up switching tables 3 times to try and find one that didn't have a significant breeze. The candles in the fireplace just didn't provide any warmth. The swordfish with white Asparagus was excellent paired with a beat salad.

We were very pleased with the dining experience at Belvedere. I took my wife there to celebrate her birthday.. Her pan-seared Tuna and my prok dish with chocolate balsamic sauce were excellent. We also very much enjoyed the enormous portion of bruschetta, and in fact boxed some of it to enjoy at home. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about all the menu options; was very informative and never intrusive. The atmosphere was beautifully romantic with intimate lighting, dark wood, tasteful black and white accents. We plan on returning and would recommend the Belvedere to anyone for a special dining occasion!

Had a killer meal, the staff was lovely, they were so nice about the fact that we were 30 minutes late for our reservation... A great experience start to finish. I'm an NYC snob and I was floored by how good the food was - the specials sounded way too complicated/fussy, but every single aspect of each dish was perfectly balanced and delicious.

We recently went to the Belvedere Inn for my mother's birthday after being recommended by a friend. We were not disappointed. The food is absolutely wonderful. The crawfish penne pasta was delicious, the scallops were among the best I had ever tasted, as was the flounder. I personally ordered the filet mignon, and I was blown away. It was the most tender and flavored steak I've ever come across in my life, well worth the $32. The appetizers were also fantastic. The only downside was our waitress, who neglected to offer us drinks and we had to ask for our own bread to be brought out. She was very nice but not a good waitress. She was probably new or something, I trust the rest of the staff is more professional. The food made up for it.

My husband and I went to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The ambiance was nice, the server was attentive and friendly, the food was a big disappointment. Certainly not what you'd expect to be served at a nice restaurant. Maybe it was an off day for the chef, but we won't be going back to find out at those prices.

The live jazz lured us in during our visit to Lancaster and the Isaac Trio did not disappoint. The staff were all very friendly and the service was warm and efficient. The actual menu was more limited than the menu featured on Open Table. We were disappointed that none of the items that excited us in advance were available during our visit. The grilled chicken Caesar salad was delicious, but the crab dip and pulled pork flatbread appetizers fell short of expectation.

We were impressed upon our arrival - the decor was very much up our alley. Each thing we tried was more spectacular than the last. We were a table of three for lunch. We each had an appetizer and an entree - also ordered a soup and 1 dessert. My husband also had 2 beers and it only came to $87 for very special birthday lunch. We tried each others plate and all agreed that the creamy grits with the shrimp was the simplest, yet most fantastic starter. The lunch special of seared peppered tuna was over the top for the birthday girl. All in all, for out of towners to find this gem was as special treat!
