Below The RadarHappy birthday dinner!Took my husband here for his birthday. We were headed to the VBC for a show after. This was great because it is close to VBC, great service, speedy but EXCELLENT food! The toffee pie was Ahhhhh-mazing! Good beer, good food, fun with friends! The only thing better would be more comfy chairs and seating for a long dinner. The high chairs are not comfy for short people when your legs can't reach the bars! That would have made it perfect! Live music was excellent... though it made the dinner very loud. That's not bad, just don't expect a quiet meal on live music nights. Entering the restaurant we felt like we entered the wrong restaurant. Didn't care for walking through a casual bar to get to the dining area. Even though the servers performed a great service and were very knowledgeable on the food and beverages, the t-shirt and jeans made me feel that I was more at a fast food joint than a fine dining experience. Creative, eclectic menu - bar food with a gourmet twist. Great, ever changing beer list. Now they also have their own brew. I have tried several items on the menu and everything is quite tasty and it really would be hard to find any better food in Huntsville. I love the venison ,even though Saturday it was served a little cool and would have been better if it was hot upon arrival to the table.My other diners had the ribeye and fish & chips and they both were impressed and enjoyed with their choices. All in all, Below the Radar is one of my favorite places to eat in Huntsville and I highly recommend it for anybody looking a great place to eat.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMmeet before a showPleasantly surprised as I don't typically like "bars". The food was quite good the beer list was GREAT. Walking distance to the Civic Center/Embassy Suites (just over a mile). Really a great place to meet friends/co workers. Would have given 5 stars for service but as it got busy, our waitress all but disappeared. We had a reservation for 530, got there a little before 5 and went straight to our table. They were very accommodating when we had an extra person show up and moved us right to a larger table. My wife and I enjoyed great appetizers, a wonderful venison dish and a fantastic shepherd pie for our respective entrees, and maple bacon blondies for dessert. The facility was nice, newly renovated and nicely laid out. At times the noise made it hard to talk with my friend but not impossible. The service and food and beverage selection was very good.
