Diner Reviews
  • "The food and service are wonderful but the prices are "off the charts"."

  • "This restaurant was my go to restaurant every time I had to come to NYC to meet someone for dinner. After my last experience I will be going elsewhere. The service was not what it used to be and the portions were smaller from salad portion to wine portion. I don't need to ask multiple times for water, my check and food items delivered wrong."

  • "My second time to Bello where they provids another excellent dining experience."

  • "I often go to bello with my husband, and when my family gets together it's always our first choice. It is our favorite Italian restaurant in our neighborhood. Staff is amazing. Food is consistently great."

  • "One of my favorite restaurants in NYC! Besides the great food - the staff is genuinely friendly and always attentive. Their Special "stuffed veal chop" is incredible. I'm not a big seafood person but their special Sword fish and Branzino are the best I 've ever had."

  • "I enjoyed this restaurant for several reasons. I am a vegetarian. I ordered the portobello mushroom appetizer and the pasta primavera. They were both excellent and I would be happy to go back and order them again. The atmosphere was very nice - and I love that they have white tablecloths. The tables are well spaced and the restaurant, although busy, was quiet. The service was very attentive. I think they could do a better job of offering wines by the glass with descriptions and information about the wines offered. Last, but not least, they have a deal with the parking lot behind the restaurant that gives you 3 hours of free parking! Amazing! I am looking forward to going back there and would recommend it to others."

  • "Service was wonderful, the food was disappointing despite all the positive reviews I read. The chicken parm was dry, the sauce too creamy. The couple behind us were having a loud verbal disagreement - with much foul language used."

  • "I know Bello has been there for a long time, but this was our first opportunity to eat there. All I can say is YUM! Great service too! It's now wonder that all the tables were taken."

  • "Food was subpar. Mozzarella was anything but creamy. Main dishes were ediable. However homemade spinach raviolis were a hit!"

  • "I was at Bello on Saturday night for dinner with three friends. The service was very good and the food was great. The problem came when I left. The restaurant advertises free parking for three hours at lunch or dinner. They neglect to say that if you drive an SUV there is a $5 charge. I know that this sounds silly but we had just spent $300 on dinner. That $5 charge annoyed me and left a bad taste in my mouth especially since I had checked with the receptionist on my way out of the restaurant and she assured me there was no charge for parking."

  • "Arrived for dinner, I would definitely make reservations. I has the stuffed clams (very good) and the chicken marsala, my sister had the veal marsala both were excellent. The service was wonderful and our waiter (can't recall his name) was fantastic. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and would definitely eat here again."

  • "Tried to seat us way in the back in a dark corner then moved us by the door. Finally let us choose a nicer table.Waiter was for from attentive. Brought the wrong wine twice, never brought olive oil that was requested several times. The veal Picatta was tasteless and the meat was pounded. Meager vegetables and one half of a small potato for 2 people. We had to request a refill of coffee. Finally overcharged us by $10.00 on our bill. Definitely would not recommend this or ever return."

  • "This corner used to have 3 Italian restaurants, now with the closing of Puttanesca, Bello is the only one left. I used to enjoy Ralph's, but that closed almost 2 years ago. There are a few other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood, but no reason to go anywhere else, Bello is really first-rate. Tends to be an older crowd, but I'm getting older too!"

  • "Food at Bello is consistently excellent. Service is attentive. Ambiance is cozy and elegant. And.....it is quiet so that one can have a conversation. This is my choice for business entertainment in mid-town."

  • "Bello has consistently good food and attentive service. They really know how to cook fish. "

  • "I was excited to visit Bello after reading positive reviews on the food however when I got there the food left much to be desired. I ordered a ceasar salad (I've made better at home) and the fettuccini Alfredo which had a loose and runny sauce. The service was good and the prices were reasonable but this is an Italian restaurant that messed up a basic dish like fettuccini Alfredo! Not good at all "

  • "The food was wonderful - Juan buys fish daily from the fish market and the black bass was amazing. Service was perfect - there when you need them, not when you don't. Juan is the perfect host. We'll be back!"

  • "Bello is consistently good, with classic Northern Italian cuisine and excellent attentive service. The food is not the most inventive and won't blow you away but they do a very nice job with classic dishes, particularly their veal. Always reliable and a great place for a special occasion. They also have a nice room fort private parties."

  • "Juan and his team are courteous, thoughtful, and patient. This was our second time here, and both times were truly exceptional. The salmon and sole dishes were perfect. We'll be back!"

  • "I haven't had one thing off the menu that I didn't absolutely love! Definitely try the mussels, clams oreganato and my absolute favorite, the stuffed veal chop with Proscuitto and mozzarella topped with a mushroom marsala sauce. Too good to be true."

  • "Took a group of seven for lunch, they made everyone very comfortable and took care of us throughout the meal. Attentive but understated."
    Dined on 3/18/2014
  • "The atmosphere is really nice, however the menu is nothing special, standard Italian fare. We ordered fried zucchini as an app, don't bother, small portion, very oily, no sauce to dip. No salad, bread was warm and good, had to ask for olive oil. Main course was tasty, dessert too. Could not get our waiter to bring our check, they were all too busy eating their dinners. Stood up and went to door finally got their attention then! Probably won't go back, to many other places to try!"

  • "Comfortable restaurant with friendly staff. My husband ordered Linguini in white clam sauce and I ordered the suffed veal chop special. The entrees were so heavliy salted that you could not taste the flavors of the food. Was it done intentionally? Do not go if you have hypertension or are just watching your sodium intake."

  • "Delicious, authentic Italian food, hearty portions, and attentive service I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return when in the neighborhood - very convenient to NY CIty Center theater and other Broadway houses."

  • "Definitely recommended as an all around good place."

  • "Let me state it was just me and just for lunch and all I had was Calamari Fra Diavolo on Linquini, so I don't have much to go by. The bread was great. The pasta was very al dente, which is nice, and the calamari was very abundant (but just a little tough), with lots of sliced garlic but an almost bland "creamy" tomato sauce. I guess it just wasn't the rich red kind of sauce I was expecting for Fra Diavolo. I asked for dried red peppers and I added that which helped the blandness. Good, just far from the best fra diavolo I've had. I'll be back. It's a nice place and the service was very good (although admittedly I was pretty early and the place was quite empty, just filling up when I left."

  • "I have been to Bello several times. It has reliably good, and moderate priced food near Carnegie Hall, City Center and Lincoln Center. The staff is very professional and will get you out on time if you have a curtain. While the ambiance is understated one can carry out a conversation during dinner easily. The menu is classic Italian with a good variey of specials."

  • "I waited for the last minute to make a reservation for Saturday night so I wasnt expecting much... But Bello was a great experience. It was a yummy, perfect place to meet friends for dinner. Great, attentive service and really delicious food. The restaurant was packed but we could easily hear each other and had a comfortable, wonderful time!"

  • "There is nothing not to enjoy about Bello. True Italian food that is as good as your Italian grandmother made. The simpler the dish the better here. Fresh ingredients jump out in every dish."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "Total lack of attention from wait staff overwhelmed the good food and pleasant atmosphere. If you go try the baked clams and any veal entree - we had four different ones and all were good."

  • "My husband and I have been here over the years a few times a year. We have always enjoyed the food."

  • "Old style Italian food with very fresh ingredients. They are not reinventing the wheel with flavors....but everything we tried was very good. The fact that there was not an empty table speaks for itself!"
