  • "I have been to Bella's a few times now, and every time my experience is awesome! The food is so good, my girlfriend and I have promised to order a new dish each time we visit... we want to experience the whole menu! Great quality of food and large portions, at an unbeatable price. Cant wait to go back..."

  • "I really thought I would like this plaace more. Its all Ala Carte Salad and bread not included.By the menu on the website it looked like Veal Parm was $19 but in small print it said to add $15 for Veal Parm making it $34. Other than that it was just very average"

  • "Bella's is my favorite Italian restaurant without a doubt. Food is awesome service Was great. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Wine list is also good and Servings are large. You usually need a reservation so plan ahead."

  • "We've dined at Bella's several times since they opened and the food is consistently wonderful! The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. We really appreciate that the kitchen is open to dietary restrictions. If I had to complain about one thing it would be the noise level. There are a lot of hard surfaces, so the din of the restaurant can get quite loud."

  • "During a recent rainy weekend in Charlottesville, we found Bella's in local listings. After checking out the menu, we made a dinner reservation without hesitation. We were immediately impressed by the warm atmosphere of the restaurant. Owner Bella, Manager Doug Muir, and staffer Sara (our server) were friendly and welcoming. The food was star quality. We savored four courses: PEI mussels with herb broth and sweet onion; Gorgonzola Grilled salad; simple veggie pasta with squash, and zucchini, and olive oil; and a tomato-based seafood stew. Every course was awe-inspiring, complemented by an equally inspiring Valpolicella Ripasso. If you are ever in Charlottesville, make Bella's part of your experience. You'll be happy you did."

  • "Tried this over the weekend, great restaurant. Food was awesome and the shared portions are huge. Reasonable prices on the wine/alcohol."

  • "Bellas decor and closeness to the U had a lot of potential. We had Rigatoni with blush sauce and sausage. 2 cooked sausages lying on top of the under sauced rigatoni was below fair. BLAH. They ought to take a trip to Italy or NY to taste good Italian food, Wouldn't recommend it or revisit it. Server was very attentive. I think his name was Mike. Hostess was pretentious and snobby."

  • "We had been meaning to try out Bella's for a few months and always thought of it too last minute and were not able to get a reservation. After dining there, I can understand why. The food was wonderful and well priced for the quality. The Grilled Romaine Gorgonzola Salad is not to be missed and our entree was wonderful - with enough left overs for lunch the next day! Our server was very well informed with wonderful suggestions based on what we were hungry for. Thank you for a wonderful evening!"

  • "I've been here many times and it is always fantastic! Our favorite is the Rigatoni Al Forno and the Gorgonzola Grilled! But everything that we've had here is fantastic. And our very favorite is Andre; he is knowledgeable about the foods and wines and always gives great suggestions. He is a true professional and very interesting as well. You'll love it here!!!"

  • "This is our third time dining at Bella's. The food and service are their fine points. One of the few restaurants in Cville that act like they appreciate your business. We had Mike as waiter( 2nd time) and he anticipates your needs, is respectful and adds to the fine dining experience. Thanks again!"

  • "The food was great and the sizes are what they say '2 servings'. We ordered a salad. appetizer, and an entree could barely finish it all. But so yummy!"

  • "On March 12th we were there for a birthday celebration and we were not disappointed. The Chianti wine we ordered was excellent, very smooth and silky on the tongue. The Spiedini alla Romano appetizer with the delicious co-mingling of flavors of melted cheeses between the bread and smothered with the tangy lemon-caper sauce piqued the taste buds. Our grilled Gornzola salad with the smoky flavor of the romaine lettuce is something unforgettable. The Porchetta, a first time try was fantastic, but needed more potatoes and a larger knife to cut the roast. Never have had dessert as always too full, but the limoncello poundcake is hoped for in the future. Bella's is a diamond in the jewelbox of Charlottesville restaurants ~ so cozy, yet elegant!"

  • "The appetizers and salads are really wonderful. The bruschetta and inslata caprese are excellent. The wine list is somewhat short, but there are good wines to be had. The main courses are served family style (for either 2 or 4 people). Probably not the best place for a single diner unless you are looking to take food home with you. They are solid Italian dishes--good to very good, but not noteworthy. The service is sometimes a little slow if they are busy, but when you have the waiters attention the service and advice are excellent. Overall rating: 3.5 stars (out of six) Overall, it is a solid meal in a nice atmosphere."

  • "Celebrated three birthdays simultaneously. Four in our party were first timers. Small group of six and everyone had a wonderful time. Food excellent. Service- excellent. Ambience- excellent. Hint: Ask for the table in the far back next to the bar if you have a larger group. Bit easier to hear one another."

  • "Wow! I could have have been more impressed! Loved the serving sizes! Great for a big group! We ordered two entrees that serve 4, one that served 2, and a garlic bread for 2 for 8 people and had plenty of food for everyone's taste and leftovers! Loved the service, delicious food, and simplicity and quaint atmosphere of the restaurant! Highly recommend! Only annoyance was they charged $10 because we brought in outside dessert (a cake for my birthday). Besides this I was extremely impressed all around!"

  • "This was my second dinning experience at Bella's and it was just as wonderful as the first. Great family style Italian food - huge portions, excellent flavors, and lots of choices. I highly recommend Bella's!"

  • "Bella's had a pleasant atmosphere in spite of the noise level. The staff was friendly and attentive even when they were busy. The Arancini as an appetizer was beautifully presented and perfectly done. The Gorgonzola Grilled salad was excellent . The Alla Carbonara, however, was a great disappointment. The dish was entirely cold, the sauce was runny and there were few bits of pancetta. In fairness, the proprietor took the time to talk with us about the dish and very graciously offered a complementary tiramisu. Unfortunately the tiramisu was a disappointment as well. In all, the prices are reasonable, the wine list is good, and the place is definitely worth a visit. We do intend to try it again."

  • "This is our favorite Italian restaurant. We have been here several times. This last time we went with a couple who had never been and they really enjoyed it. Food & service have always been great! Perfect for groups. Loud, but that doesn't bother me."

  • "Family style pasta dish for two was plenty for 2 of us. Ordered meatballs and rigatoni. Meatballs were not covered in sauce so we requested additional sauce which was brought to us promptly. Very nice, although it is a little tight in the dining room and busy. I recommend it."

  • "The food was great, the service by Nikki was excellent giving great suggestions. Large portions, served hot and in a timely manner. This is the second visit with out of town friends who are quite discerning."

  • "Grilled gorgonzola salad was amazing. Carbonara was just ok. My husband can make a way better pasta dish, it was nothing special. The tiramisu was decent cake but not real tiramisu at all....not very moist, supper sweet, little coffee flavor:( Main complaint was the service was pretty pushy. We don't have a lot of money and don't go out often. Tap water/ verse bottle, why don't you order a bottle of wine instead of a glass? how bout adding an appetizer...it was just awkward. Not a horrible experience but I would definitely not get carbonara."

  • "Best food in Charlottesville so far, family style eating, serving size and price were great. The porchetta is phenomenal and the best thing on the menu. One problem I had with the service, I am not some slack jawed yokel and should not have the one "italian" server there treating me as though I am trash because I pronounced a word in Italian wrong or correct me. And when I ask for the check please just hand it to me and don't tell me that you "heard me the first time" and continue with the dessert menu when I said we are not having dessert. Other than that it is the BEST."

  • "After failing to get a reservation on two previous trips to Charlottesville, I was looking forward to finally trying Bella's. The restaurant is fairly small and very popular so a reservation is essential - especially for a large group. We had 6 in our party which was a great match for the family style menu - large platters that can be shared. The house salad was exceptional as was the lasagna. The other pasta dishes we ordered - the primavera and sausage and peppers - were generous and tasty. There were plenty of leftovers - but they were claimed by the college students in the group so there was no opportunity for a second opinion... Overall a fun evening - everyone left stuffed and satisfied. Will likely return in the future."

  • "We felt rushed out. After paying the bill out water and drink glasses were promptly taken. We felt like the real desire was to flip the table. We were very disappointed. We have been multiple times in the past and had great experiences- but on Saturday we felt rushed out."

  • "Food is excellent at Bella's. The only drawback is the noise level, but the quality of the food, wine and service overshadow the noise."

  • "First of all, Happy Hour prices only apply if you sit at the bar, in the same room! Then the tables are so close together that when young children start behaving in undisciplined manners, it really ruins the romantic atmosphere. The pork dish we ordered was too bland dry and the cost was not commensurate with the experience. But we knew the prices were not low. On the other hand, we have had exceptional meals here in the past. Very, very good ones in fact. This one hopefully was a fluke! We will go back, but it will be the deciding 3rd trip."

  • "My family went to this place for my mom's birthday. We order Cozze for appie, Gorgonzola Grilled Salad and Rigatoni al Forno. Food was all good and we enjoyed the nice ambiance as well. One thing we were uncomfortable was that waiter for our table. Although he was informative and nice, he and all the other servers kept asking us if we are finished. (even when we were holding forks) My father is slow-eater, but we still wanted to have a good time altogether. However, even while he is still eating, servers took our plates (my mom's, sister's, and mine). I wouldn't like that if I was still eating and feel like I am the only one eating and dragging others to wait for me. I am sorry, that was unpleasant."

  • "Great family dinner. We ate here on Christmas Eve. They had a wonderful selection of food for the whole family (5 adults & 4 kids). All of us (kids included) loved our meals. I especially loved the grilled salad!! Would highly recommend. The staff was excellent and our waiter explained the family style menu to us (as it was our first visit here). It was a bit loud, which is always good with kids, so we didn't feel like we were disturbing anyone else there. A new favorite for family, or date night!! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "The entrees are each meant to serve 2 or 4. Luckily, we had 4. If my husband and I had been alone, I would have been bummed. We usually do not pick similar choices. I thought the food was quite tasty, though my husband did not care for a few things. We had a few relatively minor bumps (a problematic bar drink and a cold entrée) that were handled quickly and well by the staff."
