Bellanico is a continuation of Chris Shepherd & Elizabeth Frumusa’s successful restaurant in San Francisco, Aperto in Potrero Hill. Bellanico is a neighborhood restaurant located in the Glenview district of Oakland. The name Bellanico is derived from their daughters’ nicknames, Bella & Nico. The Bellanico staff take great pride in food, service and wine. We serve rustic Italian cuisine that changes seasonally. We are dedicated to serving the best seasonal, local, sustainable and organic products that they can find. Bellanico features Pitman Farms Chicken, Prather Ranch Meat, Duroc Pork and only wild caught fish and seafood. It also features a wine bar offering Old World wines with an emphasis on Italian wines. There are more than 25 wines by the glass & 6 different flights of wine.

Appetizers, sides and the tagliolini pepati were highlights. Some pastas were too salty or buttery. Friendly service but forgot to follow through on numerous details, like refilling water; also kept taking bread plates and silverware away before we finished using them.

If you want fresh, thoughtfully prepared Italian dishes, this local neighborhood restaurant with the same chef/owners consistently provides flavorful, inventive ingredients for appetizers, pastas, other entrees and desserts. We moved to Southern CA a few years ago but made a point to stop here while visiting and it hadn’t changed. We enjoyed a very delicious meal once again. The wait staff are also friendly and knowledgeable. Great Oakland mainstay.

Wide variety and selection selection of wines by the glass, more than your typical Chardonnay Cabernet or rosé. Evolving menu highlight seasonal dishes. Happy hour a big plus, with appetizers and wines at a good value, as is the tasting menu with four courses.. Service is professional and personable. Excellent suggestions from the servers for wine pairing for the menu.

The food is always good there. Now, they have a $45 prefix that is an incredible value. Only problem was that it was too loud. A lot of it had to do with the two guys that were sitting next to us that were hard of hearing.

Was delighted to get a few appetizers and drinks during happy hour in addition to a dinner appetizer and one entree. Sat outside on a lovely Thursday early evening . Excellent service and as usual, the chard malfatti was extraordinary.

Brunch was excellent -so many awesome things to choose from! Hard to decide but went for the marscapone French toast and it was a good decision! Efficient wait staff, comfortable seating. Highly recommend!

Bellanico is an outstanding restaurant - each and every dish has been beautifully prepared and presented, with excellent service. The food is delicious and unique, the wine list of superb quality and one should save room for the desserts too! Especially good value to be found with their occasional prix fixe offerings.
