  • "Wonderful staff, delicious food, all in all really a fun time."

  • "We had a lovely dinner here on a week night. The staff was professional and friendly. Food was very well done. Flavors subtle, not overpowering. I had the pork chop, very good. My wife had the crusted tuna, also excellent."

  • "Excellent food, interesting menu, great to share dishes around the table, and an excellent wine list. Service can be iffy, especially on busy Saturday nights. Being given four menus creates confusion and a lot to look over. A meal at the bar is always a good option."

  • "This restaurant never disappoints. Menu includes. a fixed price menu with supplemental wine pairing that is quite the deal. Restaurant is small so make reservations although drop ins can sit at the bar. Pastas are fabulous"

  • "My husband and I went here for Friday night dinner. It was good that we'd made reservations because this place was packed. We decided on the four course tasting menu($35 what a value!) and wine pairing ($15 great value!). All the food was creative and beautifully presented. Service was top notch. We'll be back for sure!"

  • "I love the malfatti- I can depend on the quality of the food - like the local farmers mkt touch service is good - in my neighbor hood -sort of"

  • "We went out with new friends and were all very pleased with the food. My husband said his duck was the best he has had in the States. My chicken was wonderful - very flavorful and perfectly done. The squash blossom appetizer was also wonderful -very different. A real find."

  • "Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night after finding myself in the area and seeing some excellent reviews of the place. Food was very good with nearly perfect portions as opposed to many italian restaurants that over or underserve. Make sure to get the selection of cicchetti, perfect for two people to get started. Don't be too scared by the italian named dishes, the waitstaff are definitely accustomed to being asked questions about what the dishes are. Entrees were perfect and desert was very good. The pre-arranged wine flights are definitely worth it and seemed to be an excellent value. Wine list seemed a little underwhelming for a restaurant also billed as a wine bar, but I'm sure they have more if you ask."

  • "The tasting menu was a good way to go. The cauliflower fritters were good. The peppered tuna was not. Dont think the tuna was fresh and i was very dissappinted with it. But the pork shoulder made everything worth it. It was fantastic"

  • "Food is reliably tasty and imaginative. Energy (as in noise) gets ramped up as evening progresses. Service is great. We have been here more times than we can count."

  • "It felt like I was back in Italy - Great food, great wine, nice ambiance. No AC so it was pretty warm - The waiter opened the door and the place cooled off pretty quickly. We will return"

  • "Service is not great some night but the food is fabulous and interesting and always well balanced. I have a particular diet which isn't extreme - no dairy, no starches, no wheat products -and they are always more than happy to accommodate me and make a fabulously delicious meal that I can really enjoy and eat everything served. That's top notch cooking!"

  • "highly reccomened. food and service excellent. Will return often because of prompt service and food was appropriate temperature when served. Our waiter, Maurice, was exceptional."

  • "The food here is art. What a gem. We're thankful that they are in our little neighborhood. We stumbled upon this place last year, and since then we've been to Bellanico a couple of times for special occasions. I had family coming in from out of town that are well traveled and not easily impressed. At least, not easily impressed by most restaurants! Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant."

  • "We had an 8:15 reservation for a party of 3 to celebrate a birthday. We arrived on time and were told the party at "our" table was lingering. We were seated about 20 minutes later at a 2 top that was made into a 3 top by positioning 2 tables together (making it pretty crowded around us). The front of the house thanked us for our patience by comping us wine--and that made us feel a whole lot more positive. Dinner was delicious and so was the wine. Nice recovery!!!"

  • "Great food and service, an excellent neighborhood restaraunt"

  • "We had a lovely dinner on Father's Day at Bellanico. It's a relatively compact restaurant, so when it's full as it was that night, it can get very loud. The 4-course tasting menu was a great way to sample many of the regular menu items in somewhat smaller portions and was a real bargain. The service was well-planned and efficient, but the server was a little too detailed (for our taste) in his description of each dish and each wine selected. We will definitely be back to this very good (and good value) Glenview gem."

  • "I made a reservation for 5 for Father's Day brunch. The food, as usual, was delicious. The problem was that we were seated in the back of the restaurant and the smell from the restrooms was horrible. It smelled like backed-up sewage and chemical cleaner. So nauseating that it gave all of us a headache. I've been to Bellanico many times and have never had a problem like this. We love our neighborhood restaurant so it saddens me to leave this review. Still, the smell was absolutely unacceptable and ruined what should have been a great Father's Day brunch."

  • "ON our initial visit to Bellanico all 4 of our party were very pleased with the quality of the food, size of proportions (not too large) and the friendliness of the staff. This is a find that is unusual in the Bay area. We plan on making additional visits."

  • "We went to brunch for my husband's birthday and it was fair compared to two weeks ago when it was excellent. Fortunately my husband enjoyed his and that was the most important part. I had the baked eggs with polenta and tomato and my eggs were too runny. I asked them to please set eggs and they brought back the exact same thing. I did not have as much polenta or tomatoes as last time so it definitely was not as good. We both complained that our artichokes were too tough also which was not the case last time. And they forgot our ONE whole slice of bread which we had to ask for. Definitely not a good day for them."

  • "I had been several times before and like the lunches. but the gnocchi was so bad I almost sent it back, the sauce was bland and did nothing to enhance the gnocchi. the asparagus was unremarkable and the side of sauce was also bland and added nothing."

  • "We never would have come across this place if it weren't for OpenTable. We were at an event off of Lincoln Ave and were searching for a nice dinner spot close by. It was a warm evening, so the outside tables were full of people enjoying the great weather. The wine list and wine flights looked top notch, but we settled on a couple glasses of very nice Rose recommended by the waitress. Food, from appetizers (burrata, prosciutto with melon, squash flowers) to main courses (duck, chicken, beet ravioli) were absolutely fabulous."

  • "The food and service was great. If you like great food in an non pretentious setting you must try this place."

  • "Great food and friendly people. While prices are reasonable in comparison to other nice restaurants I would have appreciated a bit more "value" (e.g., a vegetable side thrown in). Good wine selection. "

  • "A friend and I had the Dinner Tasting Menu on 05/31/14 with wine pairings. Excellent service and every course was delicious! Wine pairings were right on point. Will definitely do it again. We also had lunch there a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed the sausage frittata and pastrami panini. "

  • "Fabulous food especially the duck liver cannoli appetizer & beet ravioli. "

  • "We had a great dinner with a very knowledgeable and attentive waiter. The tasting menu with wine pairings was great and thoughtfully prepared and presented. A nice array of cure meats and vegetarian options and everything was unique and delicious. Although wine was their main focus the beer menu was also thoughtfully chosen with North Coast and Allagash Brewing selection. The outdoor seating was comfortable and the Glenview neighborhood is one of the most pleasant parts of Oakland. Off the beaten path a bit, but a serious gem of a restaurant."

  • "Even it is Italian i felt like i was in a French bistro. Food was outstanding. The tasting menu is a great bargain. Definitely pick that option for at least one of your dining companions. Servers were friendly and very helpful but they seemed like they were under staffed. Highly recommend this gem!"

  • "This was my first dining experience at Bellanico and it won't be my last! The cauliflower fritters were very tasty and the duck breast was perfectly cooked. My friends had the pork chops, which were also delicious. The red wine flight was a great way to try some new (to me) Italian wines. Very cozy ambiance, but somewhat noisy."

  • "I was expecting a lot, considering the rave reviews. Service was great. The food...so disappointing. It was incredibly salty. Not just one dish. Every single dish. Even the buratta was sprinkled with salt. I told our server who offered to bring a new appetizer but I told him no worries since we still had more food coming. All of the entrees were just too heavy on the salt. Ruined the experience for me. Too bad. The menu is awesome. The taste just didn't reflect that."

  • "I go to Bellanico for wine and appetizers with friends after work sometimes. This was a special dinner and each item was really special. The chef does everything just right. The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. A lot of the menu is in Italian, so we had to have things explained. He did that well. There are many small tables close together, so on a full night, it might be loud and not private enough, but they sat us as far from others as they could without being asked. It was lovely."

  • "Well executed food and some good Italian varietals on the wine list "

  • "Delicious appetizers house-made burrata, pork belly. Duck excellent, gnocchi OK. Recommended inexpensive wine was very tasty. "

  • "Notable for their wine list, the food was absolutely outstanding. Waiter service was average, and boy, was that place loud! This is a place for wineaux and those with money to spare. :) Here's a hint: If you don't like a lot of noise, ask to sit outside."

  • " By chance, I had a lunch meeting with a colleague and went to Bellanico on a whim. The experience was so wonderful that I returned with my wife for dinner. Wine list is extraordinary, available flights of whites and reds are well orchestrated to work with the myriad of flavors and ingredients found on the menu. In addition to a tasting menu, one can be inspired by multiple courses consisting of roasted vegetables, homemade cheeses and pastas, as well as superb main courses that reflect the fresh and authentic local and regional ingredients. Recommendation - take that special someone in your life and disappear for a few hours at Bellanico. The atmosphere is energetic, noisy enough to ensure privacy, but intimate enough to feel at home. "
