  • "We had a 7:15 reservation on a Saturday. We got there a little early at 7. The hostess offered we wait at the bar or on a bench nearby. We got drinks and listened to the live band. We had read that some people thought the music was too loud but we didn't have any trouble talking. At exactly 7:15 the hostess took us to our seats. We got a couple of appetizers, eggplant meatballs and bruschetta. Both good and gone quickly. Our entres were the Italian meatloaf and prime rib cannelloni. The cannelloni was terrific and the meat loaf good. We finished with chocolate chip bread pudding - spectacular! Service was good and the owner stopped at our table as well. We had never been there before but we will definitely be back. We had a great time."

  • "Had an evening out for dinner. The service was good but the food was horrible. Horrible is not a statement I make in most cases but this was not passable at all. I ordered the Osso Buco and it was the worst cut of meat I have had out bar none. The meat was mostly fat and was not passable at all. The dish should have never left the kitchen. I eat out all the time and I will not be returning. Server was nice!"

  • "We dined here on a Friday night. There were six people in our party. We had a table in the middle of the restaurant. The noise from the other diners coupled with loud music from the bad in the next room made it very difficult to have a conversation. Food was nothing but average which surprised us since so many people raved about this place. One of the six meals was delivered with the wrong food, it was promptly corrected. I surmise this to be the waitresses' error since her service suffered in other respects as well. The owner/manager did stop by early in our visit. He was very warm and charismatic. Too bad he or someone else never stopped by again to find out what our total dining experience was like."

  • "Was visiting Cincy for college visits for my daughter. Being from Chicago where there are so many incredible authentic Italian restaurants I was just hoping to find a decent to good Italian restaurant. Was not expecting anything rave-worthy. After scouring reviews on both open table and yelp selected Bella Luna. . It did not disappoint. Server was informative and conversational while not being intrusive. The restaurant and its owner have great character and a deep heritage in the industry. I was Impressed with his knowledge of Italian restaurants in Chicago. Oh and the food...melt in your mouth pasta, just the right amount of cheese and flavors. And ridiculous desserts!!! World class bread pudding and cannoli cheesecake. Rave-worthy!"

  • "My husband and I had not seen our very good college friends since their daughter's wedding in September. We decided to try a place I had heard much about, but had not tried. The minute we walked it, we knew immediately that we had chosen well. We were taken to a comfy booth in a corner, set with an vintage tablecloth, mismatched china, and pillows. Our server, Krissy, was such a delight. She was very knowledgeable about the history, the specials, the award winning dishes, and the menu in general, including ingredients. I ordered a bottle of one of my favorite wines & then a 2nd; the wine list is very good Our friends started off with cocktails. We ordered both an appetizer and dessert - a rarity, thanks to Krissy - loved both!"

  • "This was our first visit to Bella Luna's be it certainly won't be our last! We were in a party of 8 which included 2 children. The kids were treated like royalty (which was a treat for them!) However, the rest of our party was too. We weren't there for any special occasion, just the family getting together again after a few months apart. The food was excellent; our waitress was awesome! As I said, this was our first, but WILL NOT be our last!"

  • "Since we 'discovered' Bella Luna 2 or 3 years ago, it is the place that most pops into mind when thinking of someplace special to go. So different from the expensive chain restaurants that cost a fortune, and aren't as fun. This is the place to go for wonderful food (and desert!) . I like the idea also that the owner has the restaurant in an entire older building in an up and coming Cincinnati neighbourhood. Thank you."

  • "We've been here several times before. As usual the food and service was excellent. Four of us went--we brought another couple. We all had veal--three had the veal saltimbocca and one had the veal parm. All raved about the dishes. The cold antipasto was excellent. One thing that makes this place a gem besides the ambiance is that the owner Harry Stevens goes around to every table and greets the guest. Makes you feel important. Well worth the trip,"

  • "I had tried Bella Luna's prime rib cannelloni at the Taste of Cincinnati and thought it was SO yummy, so that's what prompted my visit to the restaurant. Of course, I ordered the prime rib cannelloni, and it did not disappoint. The meat was so tender, and the sauces (marinara and alfredo) were delicious. If hugs came on a plate, this would be it. The owners and staff are very welcoming and gracious. The service is great, and the atmosphere is cozy and eclectic - felt like I'd taken a trip to Little Italy. I'll definitely go back!"

The owners mingle with diners and are very concerned that everyone is not only satisfied with their meals, but also having a good time while dining. The 13th anniversary menu is outstanding.   • "Our daughter cannot eat Gluten, so we assumed her choices at an Italian restaurant would be limited. When our server found out about our situation, nothing could have been further from the truth. Immediately, Gluten Free bread was baking and we were told about pasta and other gluten free choices. And for those of us without dietary restrictions, save room for the bread pudding. We've been fans of Bella Luna for a long time. This last experience ensured we will be fans for a long time to come."

  • "Overbooked, the 2 of us were seated 30 mins late, in the center of a room. Too noisy to talk. No-one made excuses; staff appeared busy and stressed. The restaurant states they are sensitive to gluten; they are not really. No separate GV menu, deserts are bread pudding or ice cream. We had a good meal at the end after we were reseated."

  • "It was a Friday night, somewhat busy-as Fridays can be. Still, not an excuse for bringing out a salad with no dressing and several lags in bringing to the table some dishes to the table. I can't excuse a 5 minute wait for the tea box after the hot water has been brought to the able. I give them a Mulligan on this. By and large this is a restaurant that continues to improve its quality and one that we will continue to go to."

  • "After proposing to my fiance we went to Bella Luna for dinner. It is a great location for celebrating any special occassion. They have amazing specials, bread, wine and their entree prices are reasonable considering everything you get. On top of that the service was spectacular. The waitress asked us if we were celebrating anything, so we told them, and they brought us each a complimentary glass of champagne, which was more than we expected. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a group or for celebrating any special occassion. My future wife and I will be coming back here for many years to come."

We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and we made an excellent choice. Although, it can be a little noisy if there is a large group dining next to you as was our case. Overall a great place for a special occasion."

Another "special" table was seated next to us right after us - owner came out to tell them he was sorry they had to wait, never acknowledged that we had to wait, and our service suffered because the waitress was obviously catering to that table. While it was nice not to be rushed the wait was long to get to order and to receive anything. We would try again to see if this was unusual - the food was great."

  • "Food was definitely incredible, not to be found anywhere else for sure. Pricing is certainly quite steep, and hard to justify after having been away from the restaurant for a few hours. Above all, do not even try to process a thought that you could get in on a weekend without reservations; you could build a space station faster than you would ever be sat sans reservation. This place requires patience and green, but can pay out very well. The romantic value is also very high."

  • "I read all of the Open Table reviews about Bella Luna, and quite frankly, I have no clue how there are so many positive reviews. We had reservations during Amore Week. We waited 15-20 minutes waiting for a table. After being seated, we waited another 10-15 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us. The restaurant was very loud. Our waitress was friendly, but very disorganized. We did not receive our drinks for another 10 minutes. And, after selecting our Amore menu items, they came out in the wrong order. The food was average at best. The shrimp was overcooked and the pasta tasted as though it came out of a box. I really hate to provide such a negative review, but our experience was poor. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend."

  • "Service was the best part of this experience. We arrived early and waited at the bar and listed to the pleasant jazz band. Our table was disappointing. It was against the wall and there was a picture protruding from the wall that I hit my head on a couple of times. I wasn't thrilled with the stuffed artichoke, as it was all stuffing, but since it was the first time I had ever had it, maybe that's just the way it is. The shrimp I had was great. There were only 2 but they were very large. The lobster and crab pasta was good. Desserts looked good, but we didn't have any. The owner stopped by our table and chatted. When he found out it was our anniversary, he sent over a card with a $10 discount to be used on our next visit. Nice!"

Stringy tough artichokes stuffed with bland bread, an entree that arrived looking like an appetizer (two prawns parading as an entree, seriously?). The beet salad in bleu cheese and pistachio puree showed the restaurant's potential. But escorted to a cold, anteroom (porch?) masquerading as dining room. No thanks."

  • "We had always heard wonderful things about Bella Luna and we were eager to find out if it was all true. We are happy to report, every word of praise has been earned. My husband and I made reservations (well in advance) for Valentine's Day. We arrived and were seated right away. The decor is warm and eclectic, we were seating in what seemed like a "special" table, in the front of the restaurant windows, tucked away from other tables, it was very romantic. The quality of food was amazing (highly highly recommend the fried goat cheese appetizer, wow!), the wine list was great, I just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our special night."
