A word from Bella Blu
The memorable Northern Italian Cuisine makes this Upper East Side restaurant special. The Spaghetti Lobster is the classic signature dish of this Mediterranean treasure. The Wine Spectator awarded extensive and serious wine menu is carefully selected by owner Enrico Proietti. Very often a private wine tasting is happening at the corner table
making the wine list more notable every season. The one of a kind brick oven offers a variety of dishes, exceptional pizza and foccacina rabbiola that is hard to find in this city. For something sweeter-the deserts are impressive! The atmosphere is charming in this power playing neighborhood.

I really don't get the appeal of this restaurant, but it is packed every night. It is not inexpensive, and the food is good but not great. Tables are packed on top of each other and the noise level is deafening!

This restaurant must be on everyone's "must visit list". It is very crowded and very hot on a warm summer's evening. There us an open oven in the center of the restaurant that blasts heat like a furnace, great in the winter, hot as hades in the warm months. The food is very good and the wine list is good too. I still like the place but will visit only on cool days.

We went for the first time this week. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana which she said was the best she ever had. I had the spinach ravioli which was good. Dessert was their creme brûlée which was delicious. Decor is colorful and welcoming. Wood burning stove for pizza make Bella Blu a family favorite with pizza.

I didnt have the right membership card to be eating here. the food was average to ok. Not really worth going back but the service was even worse. they paid so much attention to a couple tables my guest and I commetted to each other that we felt like we didnt pay our membership dues or something. There are too many other good spots in that area move on to another.

Chose this spot based on reviews! Fast service, tasty food, nice ambience with the wood fire oven open for viewing. Very clean and uncluttered space. Food was plated nicely, really enjoyed my meal. The dessert was awesome, some of the best I've had in the city (Tiramisu was creamy and light - delicious!)

We love to come here for an early weekend dinner (if you don't come early, the noise level is intense), and particularly like to sit at the bar with the charming bartender. The food is consistently good - we had the swordfish and veal specials this time, and a lovely bottle of super-tuscan. The bar also draws a convivial group of people.

We had a reservation at 8:30 at Bella Blu but didn't arrive in the city until almost 10:00. I called and they said to come ahead! It was a bit dark in the restaurant so it was difficult to read the extensive menu -- but the specials were so wonderful, we didn't need the menu! From antipasti to dessert, Bella Blu was delicious! This is one of the few Italian restaurants we will return to the next time we hit NYC!

My daughter had her dance show just a block away. We only had about an hour for dinner so, thought this place would be perfect. We had reservations, was seated very quickly. Waiter made his way slowly to our table with menus. We were only told there wouldn't be any pizza tonight. Weren't told of any specials or anything, so we just ordered 2appetizers... Yellow Fin Tuna Tartar, which was great!! The other was a grilled calamari...was ok, but too much pesto.

I really thiink Bellla Blu is a great NYC restaurant. Each dish is carefully and perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The staff had to remember or memorize a long list of specials. Staff are very attentive. The restaurant is always crowded, but this doesn't matter if you want a superb meal in a friendly atmosphere!

Though our mothers day brunch res was made based on restaurants brunch menu posted on open table, our waiter proceeded to get angry when we attempted to request a brunch menu. He irately related to us (myself, husband and 2 grown daughters) that he had to leave his wife and children home today so that he could come to work and we should not "play" with him. When we respectfully explained to him that our request was based on info on restaurants website, he sent the manager over who fortunately tried to be accommodating. Thank you for that at least. Bella blu should advertise correct info on their web site so that those seeking brunch do not have to eat pasta instead...and be given attitude to boot!!

I arrived with 9 people which I had confirmed by phone . It was not full on st pattricks day so they could have reseated us but we were jammed into back corner table suited for max of 6. One person who ordered sole daily special waited til most were on 2nd course and was charged $55 for 2 small pieces of fish & a small amount of Swiss chard. Each person paid for their own wine in cash and I paid food all on my credit card. They REFUSED to give me a receipt for the $97 cash I handed them. I will have problems getting reimbursed by my employer. Won't go there again.

It's a great value; that is solid food for a reasonable price. The problem is that it is mobbed. We got packed in like sardines in the back of the restaurant, which gave me a great opportunity to talk to my neighbors--since my 6'5" husband was pouting and not speaking to me because he was so irritated by the lack of space.

I haven't been to Bella Blu in years since moving away from the neighborhood. But after my experience there this past Saturday, I think it's worth a return trip. My husband and I sat at the bar, waiting for the rest of our group to arrive. The bartender was very friendly and immediately served us our favorite Italian wines. He then, without prompting, poured tastings of similar ones in case we wanted to try something new for round two. Our table waiter was equally accommodating. Food was delicious all around and arrived quickly-- swordfish, shrimp risotto, warm artichoke salad, classic meatball appetizer. The tables are tightly packed together (no quiet romantic dinners here!), but the mood is so convivial that it doesn't seem to matter.

The food is consistently good and delicious and I must say that in this restaurant world of pretentious food and environments, it is a pleasure to go somewhere which is so consistently good, comfortable and reliable. We arrived 30 minutes early for our lunch reservation but were seated right away. Water, bread and a tasty sun-dried tomato and olive oil dipping sauce arrived soon after. Our lunch order was taken promptly and arrived quickly, even thought the restaurant was fairly busy. Everything was cooked and served to perfection. My companion, who is vegan, had the homemade organic whole wheat ribbon shaped pasta with organic baby vegetables. I had the Saltimbocca alla Romana. We each had an espresso to finish; they came with a plate of little biscotti-type cookies. Amazing meal. Ten stars. We will definitely return again and will recommend this restaurant to others.
