  • "This was our first experience with Bel Lago and we were very disappointed. When we were seated we mentioned that we were surprised that the view of the water was obstructed due to the size of the window panes which were right at eye level. I can't remember exactly what the greeter said but the tone was sarcastic and he said something to the effect of "I guess most people just like to complain about the view..." Pretty ironic since this place was built for diners to view the water but the view is obstructed. I ordered the Salmon BLT and the salmon was raw in the middle. My wife ordered the Scallop salad and the portion size was that of a small dinner salad with 2 medium (lukewarm) scallops. 2 thumbs down all the way around. "

  • "Black bean hummus was outstanding. Service was phenomenol! Scenery was fabulous. But dinner was far too salty and buttery. Scallops were so salty they burned my tongue; I only could eat one and part of another. The butter was overwhelming. Salmon was overly salty too. Will return only for sun, water, drinks, and hummus. Far too expensive for butter and salt. No vegan options also is unfortunate. "

  • "Ate there on Saturday night and discovered it was prom night. I guess the kitchen could not handle a full restaurant as our food took 1 hr to be served. When it arrived it was good but it was hard to overcome the long wait."

This was very fresh and delicate. My partner had salmon and she said it was one of the best she ever had. Very nice experience!"

  • "Our reservation was at 6:30 pm on Friday. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated promptly at 6:30. Our party of four split two appetizers- calamari and rozutto balls I highly recommend both. Three of the four entrées were very good; but the NY strip steak wasn't cooked to my liking, despite returning it for a second grilling. The entrées took way too long to be delivered to our table. Management intervened and made the wait worthwhile. We will definitelygive them a second chance."

  • "What a wonderful experience at Bel Lago today. The brunch was SENSATIONAL. Perfect amount of selections of absolutely delicious food. As always, the staff is just wonderful and so attentive. We were seated right away and received the table we had requested. The sun shining on the water....what a gorgeous spot.The brunch is served so well. No large tables with overwhelming amounts of food, but rather small, appetizing stations beautifully displayed. Everything was just delicious and obviously made with great care. Every table was full, conversation lively, and everyone seemed to really be enjoying themselves. The wine list is amazing. Just a great place, and at the top of our list for taking out of town guests."

  • "This is not our first time at Bel Lago, yet it felt special as all the previous visits. Our server was pleasant and informative. The food was excellent in both presentation and taste. I had the Mahi Mahi, my wife had the Cod, my Nineteen year old ordered Margarita pizza and my thirteen year old had the Steak. Everyone was pleased with their choice. Definitely exceeded expectations. When the waiter found out that we had a birthday in the family the server brought a complimentary piece of chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We had ordered the creame brûlée and both desserts were a great cap to a great meal and overall dining experience. Will definitely return and recommend this place."

  • "My husband and I had our 10 year anniversary dinner here. His potato parmesan soup and my beet salad were absolutely delicious. For the main course, he had the Grilled Mahi Mahi and I had the Bone-in Grilled Pork Chop. It was probably the finest meal I had ever eaten and it wasn't even over! For dessert, he got white chocolate almond creme brulee' and I had the triple chocolate cake and they were absolutely divine. Plus, we had an absolutely terrific server. I think it might become an anniversary ritual. I would like to come back in spring and enjoy the view."

  • "We made reservations ahead of time and got a table at the window with a great view. I really liked how there was a reasonable amount of space between tables so we could carry on a conversation without knowing the table next to us could hear everything. The service was a bit slow but we thoroughly enjoyed that we never felt rushed at all. This is a great place to spend a couple hours in reasonably quiet conversation. I do wish there were more bottles of red wine priced less than $40. The portions of fish were perfect but the sides were nearly non-existent. Without an appetizer you might go away hungry. But the Haddock special was outstanding."

Food came out and served in timely manner while not overwhelming us to eat faster and leave. Myvwife didnt like her lobster mac n cheese, however I thoroughly loved my mahi mahi. Great time and will definitely go back again. May try out their wine tasting some time as well"

  • "I dinned at their Sunday brunch this past weekend, 2 March 2014, with my wife, in-laws, and our 2 children and the food was very flavorful and fresh. There was a wide variety of both breakfast and lunch food and a great desert selection. The chef special omlet had apples rendered in bacon fat with bacon, sauteed onions, blue cheese, and chives which was amazing. I also had lobster mac-n-cheese, candied bacon ... The dark chocolate covered strawberries were large and fresh. What also made it a great experience was the service and coffee. Our waiter was attentive but not invading and the regular coffee was strong, not watered down like at most restaurants."

  • "My wife and I had reservations for her birthday dinner. We dined at Bel Lago only once before this time. We were a little late but was promptly seated by Eric the host. We looked at the menu on line so we knew what we wanted to order. Our drinks and salad came out quickly, our server Andy even separated out salad in seperate bowls for us. Our food took unusually longer than before to come out. Andy did apologize a couple of times while checking on us. Eric came over and offered his apologizes while buying our second round of alcoholic drinks. My wife I were not too upset we don't go out much because we have two young children and can't always get a sitter. We were just enjoying each other's company. Andy even compensated some off our bill."

  • "After writing a glowing review about our Thanksgiving dinner at Bel Lago, unfortunately have to say that the dinner we had on February 15th was mediocre at best. Incredibly overpriced, likely because it was "Valentine's Day weekend," which could be overlooked if the food had measured up. I had the scampi pasta dish and had to ask for lemon just to give it some flavor. My husband said his strip steak was "just ok." I can accept an off-night, but it's difficult when the special Valentine's menu was so overpriced for mediocre food."

  • "Not a bad place. Nice atmosphere, waiter was quick, courteous, totally deserved a 15% tip. Couple of things to note: 1. Food was ok ... Not bad but not excellent either, for the price. It looked and tasted a little bit as if it was made in the morning that day ... Not stale but kind of tired looking 2. For the place with valet parking there was a staggering number of people dressed down- jeans, sweatshirts, even shorts I think. There should be a dress code, those people didn't belong there 3. Dishes weren't exactly spotless but that wasn't a big turnoff for me (my wife notices these things though) All in all good place, nice scenic view (albeit of a man made Hoover reservoir), nice place for a special occasion like birthday, valentines etc."

  • "Went for Valentine's Day, they had a special menu. I got the Grouper and my boyfriend got the Chicken Marsala. His chicken was so bland and dry and simply sitting on a bed of noodles dipped in butter and oil. Very little flavor, not appetizing. My fish was much better, but not worth $30. I ordered the Flourless Cake for dessert - amazing. My boyfriend ordered the red velvet - it was 75% delicious, the back of the cake was very hard and crunchy for some reason...I am not a fan of chain restaurants, but honestly Red Lobster has significantly better food for cheaper prices. You can't beat the atmosphere and view of the reservoir though."
