Bel Air Bar + GrillFather's Day at Bel Air Bar & GrillFor Father's Day we decided on Bel Air Bar & Grill. The reservation was made online, which was very convenient, as was the valet service offered. Started off with the tuna tartare and pear salad and our server paired this with two excellent white wine choices by the glass. For our main courses we chose the branzino and the filet mignon. The branzino was drizzled with the most succulent sauce. The medium-rare 10 oz filet mignon was cooked to perfection (and tasted just as good as leftover the next day). Again the wine suggestions worked perfectly. Finished off with raspberry sorbet, brownie (my favorite), and a lemon tart for dessert. The first time was a welcome surprise. We came the second time with high expectations to celebrate my daughters birthday, and the high expectations were met. The food was outstanding; every dish, including dessert, was excellent. The menu is designed so you can have a high end, celebratory meal or eat simpler (and less expensively). My wife and I love it, and it is our go-to place for dinner before hopping over the Sepulveda Pass for a movie at the Arc Light. We've eaten there 4 times in the last 6-7 weeks and are always very happy with the food and the service. I want to make a particular point about the Soup of the Day. I have had the soup on 3 of my 4 visits and they are always outstanding. (I've given up having a conversation at a number of popular LA restaurants - they're just too loud.) I had delicious bronzino, and my husband had a pasta with lobster and shrimp - we both enjoyed our entrees. We split a tuna tartare appetizer - very generous portion, beautiful on the plate, and delicious. The food is quite good and the specials are often amazing. The service is attentive and it is a quiet spot which is conducive to intimate get-togethers.
